As long as Garrus aint wanting to Calibrate with my ManShep I will be fine with it. I seriously hope that it isn't something that is out of character of the LI. As long as it feels organic, I will be fine with it.

I may have to replay my Sentinel now. He had romanced Liara and Miranda originally, and I always intended for him to be bi, but I might have him just go solo in the first two games. Of course that means I won't have a Mirimance canon playthrough, but it will probably make for a 'cleaner' game if he doesn't have the baggage of breaking it off with Liara AND Miri. I've already replayed by Infiltrator because I didn't have a 'saved/romanced Ashley' canon game, so it shouldn't be that big a deal. Now that I know that 90% of the UNC missions don't matter, and none of the equipment carries over to ME2, replaying ME1 goes a LOT faster. ME2 still takes just as long though. Sure wish I had a 'skip combat' button...

okay, I just found out about this. ANd while I don't have a problem with the idea of this per se, if all of the male characters suddenly start flirting with me a la dragon age 2...I'm going to be pissed. Especially if it's characters like Joker, or Garrus. Who have never even shown a hint of liking the same sex through two games.

Just for the record here I guess...I'm not gay or bi or whatever. I don't mind if there are gay/lesiban/bi characters in my games. But what I *do* mind is alternate sexuality being forced on characters for the sake of the fans.

I didn't read through this monster of a thread...and I'm fairly sure my point has been brought up before...but it bares repeating.

I don't discriminate against gay, I got nothing against gay, but I also don't like to be involved in gay... "things"... I got gay pals, I respect their sexual orientation and they respect mine well enough that they don't push me or any of our straight friends into flirty stuff or anything that would make any of my step go the other way. 

At first the male/male relationship thought repulsed me because of what I imagined through it, but honestly, I have nothing against it as long as it's not forced onto my Shepard or my gameplay overall. 

Am actually quite content that everybody's getting happy. I bet they'll be a lot less whine threads, on every possible subject, from now on, on this forums. lol.

I didn't mind Anders. Anders was a needy bundle of mage rage, and he's that way for LadyHawke as much as he is for ManHawke. You have to tell him to GTFO regardless of gender if you don't want none o' that. Same with Isabela, she's a lusty wench, and she's not too picky about your naughty bits, so you have to not flirt with her if you don't want her puttin' the moves on your Hawke of either gender. How hard is it to say "how about no" anyway?

You don't have to be involved in gay unless you decide to. Just like in real life.

They're by different writers and dev teams. What about the writing of the characters and relationships so far in the ME universe makes people keep bringing up DA2?

It's like saying "Man I hope there isn't a bunch of NFL football in Goldeneye: Rogue Agent" because they're by the same company.

Some people apparently thought hitting one of the options with the little heart on it somehow wouldn't lead to a romance. That is the ONLY way to initiate a romance.

Wrong, it is very obvious in DA2 that Anders, Merril, Isabel and Fenris are bi.  Fenris - the slave master comes out and said that Fenris was "very good" for other things, Anders - whiny and likes men who are 30 yrs older than him, Isabela comes right out and hits on a female Hawke.  It was ridiculous.  DAO was so much better with only a couple of bi choices.  I don't mind them having bi sexuals in the game but if they do it to my Kaidan who is an obviously straight marine, I'll be completed pissed off.  They can let the new characters play the bi part.

I can't see any ME squadmats being as objectionable as Anders, unless there's some more facial retconning going on.  DA2 got so much better once I modded Anders' face.  That game was terrible enough without Keanu Reeves in it.

That's an excellent point.  It should be built up with a bit of background, if we're talking about previously unavailable characters.  Completely ignoring it would save deveoper time, but might come off as cheap or unrealistic.

...Did you just suggest rape is about one's sexual orientation?  Seriously? I hope that you're not raped by a woman or you'd find yourself bisexual.

Fenris isn't obviously bi unless Male Hawke flirts with him. Otherwise he hook up with Isabela. Anders hits on Male Hawke if Male Hawke is nice in a convo and tells him about Karl, Isabela is blantat because she's Isabela. 

The only ridculous I see is this post that is woefully lacking in knowledge about rape and basic characterization. 

You have no clue how old Karl is so please don't speak about thinks like they're facts. 

And yes "your" Kaidan.

I'm confused as to why they don't just write a few characters gay and a few that are straight. Hell, toss in a bisexual and an asexual too. It's strange to me that it is only acceptable to have a same sex relationship if that character is open to opposite sex relationships as well.

Seems a bit disingenuous to not write the character's sexual orientation into the biography/background of said character.
