People need to stop using the words gay and bisexual interchangeably.

THEY DO NOT MEAN THE SAME THING.

This has been driving me batspit crazy for several hundred pages now.

Gay=boy likes boy only, girl likes girl only
Bisexual=boy likes boy and girl, girl likes boy and girl
Straight=boy likes girl only, girl like boy only

Now, does everbody understand?;)

i dunno, i find it really strange that i want actual reasons behind them being suddenly bi and none of you seem to care about that fact.

every justification ive seen for them suddenly being bi is "well they never said they werent!" which is probably the dumbest and weakest reason for anything ive ever heard.

ALso people should know the diffrence between bisexual and pansexual :?

True. I've been calling Anders' bi when in truth he's pansexual.

Fenris though...I actually think Fenris is straight but with a bit of gay for you for dude Shepard. (and Merrill just has single target sexuality). Yes she finds the Qunari men attrractive. Plenty of people (straight or otherwise) find those of the same or opposite gender attractive without wanting to sleep with them.

I think the me1 characters who were also in me2 are the least likely to be bi in me3. I mean, that much time together and nothing romantic happend yet? Not saying it couldn't, but I think Ash/kaiden and whoever from me2 would be perfect.

I would also like to mention that Garrus can die, thus, may never appear in a players game. If Bioware is smart, they will give ALL players an opportunity to pursue a same-sex romance regardless of the events of ME2. Hey, Kaidan and Ashley were kept alive in ME3 for a reason. =p

Of course this assumes that the ME3 characters don't all end up bi/pansexual like the DA2 cast.

Only two DA2 Lis are bi, the other two are pan.

Better?

And what's your justification for them not being interested in s/s Shepard?

Oh wait...they never said they were.

Funny how the same excuse is okay when you use it but not when we do.

i just hope they go the DA:O style of things where the bi characters actually made sense, rather than the DA2 way where everyone is bi regardless of story or backround.

especially since this is all established characters we're dealing with.

Isabela would sleep with anything, if a frying pan so much as glittered with the reflection from her jewellry she'd take it to bed. Not sure if that makes her pan or a nympho... or maybe a bit of both?

Good job Bioware! I'm quite proud of you guys. I really think this is a step in the right direction. I think what Bioware should strive for is to make more people feel included in gaming. I am very glad to see this news.<3

See, your problem is that you think this is a sudden change.

Your opposition is saying that they were always bi; they merely didn't express that in the previous games.  You're looking for a reason why their orientation would change as opposed to trying to accept the idea that your assumption of their orientation may have been wrong, since it was only that: an assumption.

Not everyone is bi, look up pansexual, you will see that Merrill and Fen are in fact pansexual.

That might necessitate a discussion about gender's false binary and other such esoteric concepts—I don't have the energy for that. Feel free to lead the charge though. Just make sure you throw in game references, we wanna stay on-topic. :D

Not really...we have faith that the writers will pull it off believablly and will give reasons.

What we are doing is refuting the idea that Tali or Garrus could not possibly be written as bisexual in ME3 b/c they are absolutely straight...our counter to that is, "they never said that".  This is different from saying just make them bisexual LIs without doing some nice writing to explain it...I don't think anyone has said that.

Hm, it's actually the contrary, but leading to the same result. You see, EVERYONE would sleep with Isabela. That does not make *her* a nympho... That only states that she is incredibly yummy.

I don't know. Its harder to tell with Merrill to me because she has no other relationship but Hawke. She's too focused on that mirror for anything else. ANd Fenris is just a giant enigma. (And sleeps with Isabela if left to his own devices). His dialogue with Dude Hawke...I don't think he slept with dude Hawke because he was open for anything. It took an actual friendship (or rivalry) for him to do so. Heck he even mentions that it mght be different with Hawke. Which squiked me because it made me think his other encounters with males wasn't consensual or pleasant.

Izzy strikes me as more pan. (if we're going by the definition that pansexuals are people who are open to many different sexual activities without a care for gender or the likes.)

Unless I'm using the wrong definition?

Funny how the same excuse is okay when you use it but not when we do.

they never said the sky wasnt purple either.
my justification for them not being interested in s/s with shepard is that theres absolutely no sexual tension, no indication of any attraction, no evidence to support any sort of romantic attraction. thats pretty good justification if you ask me.

if theres any sort of interest i'd expect there to be some indication, because without that its impossible to know, and therefore BAD WRITING.

do you really not understand my point? im not against S/S......seriously for the last time, im not against it.
im against bad writing.

people suddenly changing sexual orientation when there was NOTHING to suggest they might be even REMOTELY interested in the same sex is simply bad writing.

if a new james bond movie came out and he was suddenly sleeping with men, and when asked he said "well i never said i WASNT interested in men!" it'd be the same thing.

stop assuming im against you, i find it insulting. im not fighting you, i just want things to be well written and make sense in context with the other games. how is that even remotely unreasonable? because im not blindly supporting s/s relationships with every character?

The quality of the DA2 LI where not hurt and they where all bi, so I don't see any issues.

Playing as a male Hawke, it is possible for both potential male love interests to come onto you, without having led them on. It wasn't an issue in Dragon Age really, but if Garrus is going to be as heavy handed as Fenris and Anders, it's going to be a real problem for me.

No doubt the writers are talented enough to make this work, but i hope they'll bear those of us mind that don't wish to pursue same sex romances as Shepard.

Being straight/gay/bi is independent of history/background.

Also, Leliana made no sense as a bisexual in a Female Warden pt and I RP it as he being a lesbian.  So, she's a crappy bi character I suppose

Guess that 'if you were straight' thing just didn't matter.

It's just super to know that you're bi though. Useful information.
