It IS christmas! Have I been sleep for so long? It only felt like a normal night's sleep!

That makes me a happy panda.

You know I wish it actually was Christmas...wouldn't be long then for ME3 to come out plus no finals to worry about...

Why does everyone assume it will be Garrus?

I think it's because Garrus says something like: "You know I don't find you sexually attractive in the slightest?" Correct me if I am wrong. I stayed loyal to Liara.

I hope they have a similar feature to the icons in the DA2 dialogue wheel, since that seems like the best solution to prevent ninjamance for everyone. Would hate to see a backlash from the shooter crowd discourage Bioware from including S/S content in the future.

I have a feeling they will do this..honestly, it will benefit more than just those who wish to avoid s/s content....like me, who will wish to avoid romancing characters who aren't named 'Liara'.

I hope they do this as well. I wish to avoid romancing all character who aren't named Tali (MaleShep) and Garrus (FemaleShep)

Very happy to hear that Bioware has taken this step.

I really only have one concern, and I'm sure it's one that many share.
I'm straight. My Shepard reflects myself and is therefore straight. I do hope this decision to allow same sex romances will not conflict with my desire to have strong friendships with male characters. For example, Garrus. I love talking and learning more about him-but I don't want to sleep with him.
If Bioware can implement this gameplay and characterization decision in a form that doesn't mean I have to stop talking with Garrus at a certain point (or any male characters for that matter) to keep them from hitting on me.

Regardless, good news!

Why does everyone assume that because someone may be a gay option that they're going to immediately want to jump down your Shep's pants?

Psst, dear straight people. We have platonic friendships too. :?

Agreed. We should be able to talk to people without sleeping with them!

Obviously, seeing my sig, any kind of Joker LI in the game would be huge.  I was at first heartbrocken and thoughts I would never haz Joker love.
New hope!!  Image IPB

Also, I've always had a soft spot for Tali.
Never done a f/f charrie in any game, but I prolly would for her.  Haha.

Seriously, though, cool on Bioware for opening this up, hoping it works out well!

I don't mind the same sex romances as long as they fit with the story and their character.

To me:

Tali will always be hetrosexual and look up to Female Shepard as an inspiration for her, but nothing more and she'll see Male Shepard as her Knight in shining armour.

Ashley is a bit harder to work out so I'll get back to you on that one.

Jack? Yeah she's one. I mean she even says so herself during a conversation with her. I can't remember which one but it's their!

Miranda? Again not sure.

Thane? Not sure either, but I could see it working. JUST! :P

Kaidan? Yeah I could most definitely see that. He even makes me feel uncomfortable enough to make me think he's bent during ME1 and even more during ME2. So yeah I'll give this one my stamp of "I Called it!"

Garrus?
Nah. I can't see him doing that. Mostly the same as Tali he looks up to
Male Shepard as an inspiration of what he could be, and Female Shepard as someone who knows him best that he can open up to.

Jacob? It'll make his character a little bit interesting at least [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie]

Samara, Kelly, Morinth and Liara. Yeah I don't really need to mention them ;)

BUT THIS IS JUST MY OPINION :) I don't want to get flamed or anything but this is how I see it. What are your thoughts everyone on who's romanceable or who's not? Or do you believe everyone is?

You should play LotSB if you think that about Tali, it might just change your mind.

Read the first section and keep in mind this shows up with both the male and female Shepards.

Because the straight relationships in ME have trouble in this regard, sadly. I just want my Femshep to be bros(er...well, you get what I mean) with Jacob. Bioware, Is that so hard?

I want a couple of my FemSheps to have platonic friendships with Jacob too, and boy is it tough to pull off. I reeeeally wish they would patch the game so Hale's "I'm more interested in just talking for a bit" line didn't come off so hussy-fied. :D

My FemShep was bros with Jacob.  I knew that because they did this awkward chest-bump thing that made me laugh absolutely out loud.
Serious lol.  But it was an endearing lol!
I had to avoid all romance dialogue like I was dancing around the plague...but yeah.  Which is prolly your point, which I totally agree with and understand.
But yeah.

If ME3 doesn't feature the same convo-icons that made DA2 so much more enjoyable than ME1 or DA:O, then I will be a happier woman, yes I will.

I'm so glad to hear this. I play Femshep exclusively, and have always had a thing for both Tali and Ashley, and now, they will be mine!

so just a question for you guys, when you replay ME1 and ME2 to import into ME3 knowing you'll have s/s romance options, are you going to pursue any ME1/2 romances? or are you going to be "sexually frustrated" shepard?

That's based on information we don't have. The question remains if we can have a romance in 1 and 2 and then pursue a new one in 3 or if we can only have a romance in 1 or 2 or none at all.

I'll probably go with a Liara/Femshep import, a single femshep, and possibly a frustrated manshep with Kaidan as the VS, myself.

I will replay my Sentinel as "sexually frustrated" probably. He's my Shepard that's been earmarked for s/s from the beginning. My female s/s character (my Adept) is with Liara, so I've got that covered, but depending on who the female s/s character(s) is(are), I may create a new Shepard to romance her. Same goes if there are multiple m/m options.

I'll be abusing the Gibbed save editor quite a bit. Heck yes, PC users. B)

I agree with this hopefully bioware keeps this mind or at the very least implements some kind of setting at the begining of the game that allows players to specifiy their characters orientation.

You already have a way to "specify your orientation". Don't sleep with dudes if it's not your thing.

A toggle isn't necessary if ME would just drop the ninjamancing for everyone, whether gay, bi, or straight.

I support <3 and otherwise labelled dialogue since the ME team has trouble making intent clear with those two or three words on the dialogue wheel. It sucks when I pick a dialogue option seriously and Shepard starts being sarcastic.

"So that's a rejection of the article that suggested no new romances? You seemed fairly sure in the interview. Change of mind?"

Casey:
"Sometimes you can't accurately condense a complex work into an attention-grabbing headline. And some of our plans are spoilers.."

Make of that what you will.

That was actually my tweet :D

Given the context - he'd just answered someone else's question about the 'no new love interests' article - I'd say it's a pretty clear rejection of that line. Remember that the interview was done a month ago. Since then, they've made the decision tpo delay the game, and presumably rethought other stuff.
