Well, I would speculate that how they set up the dialogue input system might have created some pause as you do not know for certain what you are going to say, only what is implied. They may have hit a roadblock in regards to that.

Okay, I believe we should start the formal discussion before this veers out of control.

Allow me;

Discuss: BioWare has seldom shied away from QGBLT subject matter in the past. What, do you think, was the cause behind it's near-complete exclusion in Mass Effect?

Want it to be more of a shooter.....which means more typical male video game players.

That does seem likely. A pity their response on this matter has been so... garbled.

Hmm.  I am not trying to bash EA, or cause one of those bashing sessions, or anything.  But I was talking with a co-worker, who used to play BW games up until ME, and he wonders if it had anything to do with EA taking over.  He sees the differences that happened, as I do, right when that shift took place.  Something to think about.

But DAO had S/S.

Well, I wouldn't speculate that it was on EA, as Dragon Age was released when Bioware was under full EA control (also look at the old development of Dragon Age compared to what was released, I would speculate that what we have now in Dragon Age was mostly developed after Bioware was purchased by EA).

They wanted Mass Effect to be their mainstream game that brings in new customers.  No gays allowed in the mainstream!

Didn't EA take over in the middle of DAO development, though?  They may have already had the s/s romances implemented, and weren't about to remove them.

EA took over in 2007, early Dragon Age development looked more like NWN than what it does now. Expect the VA being recorded after EA took over.

Yeah I don't think it is EA at all. Or maybe not most of it.

Question: since when does this type of topic actually want to hear from the other side of the fence? People from the other side of the fence are considered instant trolls or homophobes. That's not freedom of speech.

True...The one time I played the Sims, I had a hard time not having lesbian characters...all the women in the neighborhood were always hitting on my two female Sims, and the men just wanted to be friends.

I'm sure if it wasn't an instant bash....It would be welcomed. Unless people think this thread is made specifically for support which is fine.

The point of this topic is also to hear from the other side of the fence.  Speak your mind if you oppose.

It rather depends on how the other side of the fence conducts themselves and the language and tone they adopt, don't you think?

And they already gave their excuses for the differences between DAO and ME. I think Uncannny or Liquidgrape mentioned the Shooter aspect, and the crowd it would attract? That was probably the beginning. We'll just have to see what they do with future games.
