Of course, but that's your double standard right there.
I for one is saddened that the discordance of naming shep "Matthew Shepard" is lost on so many.
I just saw this post and I remember, when I went to name my Shepard, Matthew, stopping for a moment, and biting lip, trying to remember if that was what his name was. Google'd it and realized the guy's name was Matthew Shepard and realized I just couldn't name my Shepard, Matthew, after myself because it was just a really painful and horrific thought.
It was like ME unintentionally punched me in the gut, and when combined with the lack of m/m in ME it almost felt like a hate crime which it wasn't (the coincedence of naming and lack of m/m, what happened to Matthew Shepard, definitely was a hate crime). I won't confuse emotional response and reality, thankyou very much.

I've PMd some mods - this account has been posting in more than one thread. Horrible.
I pm'd quite a few mods to and one came and cleared about 95-99% of the posts out, but he missed one. I have reported it so hopefully it will be cleaned soon.
The guy seems to be gone tonight, and hopefully forever, but he did leave a childish manifesto in one thread about this being a war against Chris and Stanley.

But one can draw many comparisons between the two shepards. There's even a Shepard Foundation. I wonder had it occurred to the devs' at the time; kinda sad really.

considering how many threads had to be cleaned, one was bound to be missed. There may be more, but I just haven't found them yet.
He really did a <_< wonderful job messing with the forum. I hope they can IP ban, and make it stick.

The image was linked from ED, can't say its the worse they got over there.
Back on topic,
Why does BW have to put in sex scenes for all the romances these days anyway? What happened to love?
Maybe they got so hung up with the sex; they're backpedaling on the romances.

It's not as if it's just a Mass Effect thing, sex scenes seem almost obligatory in just about about every action movie with a teen/mature rating, and it's been that way for decades. Personally I don't see anything wrong with it - it's all part of the human experience. People who see wrong in it probably need to have some archaic taboos addressed.
Also - could some mod go over this thread and clean up those images, please?

I didn't find the image particularly disturbing myself, it was just kind of 'eh' moment trying to figure out whether it was a real person or a digital image. I'm not fussed either way.
They're barely sex scenes, more like a mud-wrestling match gone wrong... or right? (as far as DA is concerned)
Lots of sex seems like it's plausible in those situations though, considering most characters consider any sort of interest in their lives as a sign saying "BONE/SCISSOR ME!".
Sky in jade Empire as romance done right though, I thought they nailed Sky perfectly (and so did I at the end

I don't think that is the sex that is limiting the romances, but other resources. BG2 had romances that lasted for 20 or more conversations and included sex, because back than a romance was nothing more than a few lines of dialog. DA:O,JE and ME1 had better romances because they limited the number of LIs and because the LI were pretty static in their conversation with the PC (and the interactions were programmed to work with every possible body-type for both participants. ME2 had individual romance scenes and a ridiculous amount of possible romance partners and other NPCs, so the romance got shortened to some extra dialog lines.Poaches wrote...

And of course the romances also have been dumbed down ever since they were introduced in BG2. In BG2 it was actual possible to fail at a romance without intention, but that has become harder and harder as the years gone on, so that today they should hand out a staying single achievement instead of the paramour one, because it is definatly harder to dodge all the NPC hurling themselves at Shepard than to finish a romance with one of them.

For me at least, some of those sex scenes' are so cheesy it even places doubt if there was any romance going on in the first place. I'm no prude, but it doesn't seem they're done well enough that they add anything significant, other than *attempted titillation* for the kids and possibly self-deprecating humor.

I agree. The only significance is a symbolic one - they 'seal the deal' between two characters and imply that it's a romantic union. We don't really get to see much of the build-up to it, so BW have to ham up the scenes themselves and that's why they come across as rather cheesy.

There was nothing fun about it - looked like a picture of a taliban guy with half his head blown off. Fake or real I don't know, but completely out of place here, that's for sure.

But back on topic, I don't think the Matthew Shepard thing was intentional. I'm pretty sure Commander Shepard is an homage to Alan Shepard, Jr., the 'first American in space'.

I noticed that too - it's particularly jarring with Garrus' "romance" - all he seems to be worried about are the logistics. Even if you break up with him, he rationalizes with "probably would have torn a ligament or something" - clearly, he had one goal in mind coming up to your quarters. Which isnt necessarily a bad thing, but one would hope he was thinking a little more long-term than that.
I mean, if it weren't for his one line about "respecting Shepard" the whole conversation could be discussing an impending one-night stand and not change!

Yes. Was this a rhetorical question, or did you really not know this?

"But but but if it's a homage to a real person and that person was straight, Shepard can't be gay!"
Herp derp.
I have to wonder, in my cynicism, if Bioware's noticed that the Fight For The Love group is one of the largest (I haven't checked the numbers, myself, I just heard it in a previous post in the thread), and if we actually can grab some attention.
If all else fails, we will have to resort to requesting "real content" like a machine gun that shoots rainbows and glitters and is all fab.
Semi-off-topic, regarding those pictures, I got a formal-looking e-mail from BioWare, letting me know how grateful they are that I reported that post and it made me feel so warm inside.
Then I finally realised it's an automatic message and then I felt miserable and had loads of ice-cream in the bathroom.
Thank you, Bioware.

Worse actually - it's from EA. Enjoy your ice cream.
