Um...that is part of what we'd like.

Seriously, though, this is some lame-ass trolling.  Like, at least include a subject and a verb in your one-line drive-by threadcrapping.

At least he didn't waste his breath with an entire sentence. Or our time with a several paragraph rant.

Same sex doesn't  include only male/male. nor does anyone suggest getting rid of hetero LI's.

Thanks for dropping by, though.

Again, the trolls are dropping by. Remember the first page, folks. All of you.

Now, back to discussion:

If you could fantasise for a moment and conjure up a way for the character(s) you've mentioned during your answers to my previous question (if you haven't already answered, scroll back two pages ago, or so and do it!) to actually turn out to be s/s romances, how would things go?

Would you like the romances to be different, overall? Would you like this particular kind of romance to be handled differently?

The anti-homosexual content people are of course free to comment and criticise, and we could argue our points in return. Try to make it sensible for both "factions". ^^

Good question. Here's how I think the conversation would play out (my first attempt at bad fanfictioney dialogue):

Shepard: You mentioned earlier that you wanted to talk about something important? I’ve got some time if you’d like to talk.

S/S LI: Yeah...Shepard, there’s really no easy way to ask you this. Look, I know you were interested is [ Previous LI name] and that seems to have run its course. I’m having a hard time with this...

Shepard: I think I know what you’re going to ask me. You want to know if I’m interested in you. I am.

S/S LI: Oh, well, you took the words out of my mouth Shepard. I didn’t know for sure you’d be into it, to be honest I didn’t know for sure I’d be into it. But after all we’ve been through, I guess I just started to see you differently. I thought I was just going through a phase at first, but..this is real, Shepard. I’ve given this a lot of thought.

Shepard: So have I, and if we can ever get to a place where we can catch our breath, we’ll have to see how creative we were in our thinking.

S/S LI:
*chuckles* Sounds good Shepard.

This is pretty basic, a good writer could do MUCH better, but you get the broad strokes.

I actually don't think s/s romances should be handled markedly different from existing romances, other than they should should ALL be written to a better quality standard than in ME2. ME1 had good dialogue, all romances going forward should try to recapture that standard.

Here's a boon for the Liara fans out there: Lair of the Shadow Broker will likely have romantic content. If we're lucky, that means Shep (specifically, FemShep) can pick up where she left off, right here in ME2.

@ Siansonea: That was a heartwarming read :)

I like the idea you're getting at with it. I think a scene like that where one of the current characters who've only been available for heterosexual romance realises they have feelings for ss shep could be really moving.

Asari are mono-gendered, and yet

1) They sound like women
2) They have the shape of women
3) Liara can be romanced by a FemShep

Even Kaidan addresses the issue, if you string him and Liara along at the same time. He tells FemShep, "I didn't realize you were a le--...well, that you liked women."
Liara: "My species only has one gender." (Something like that)
Kaidan: "Yeah, but you look--"

Bioware could make a mono-gendered race that sounded and look like men...who could be romanced by an MShep.

I wouldn't wish Jacob on a romance with anybody....sorry to any Jacob fans, and to the people supporting an S/S LI, but I won't be rooting for you there.

Kaidan is awesome. Nuff said. BW might be able to turn him for ME3.

I actually want to see Joker as an LI, and I think he would be a good LI for either gender.

Well so far Krogans, Turians, Salarians, Batarians... in games are mono-gendered men although they talk about the females who are hidden somewhere. They might not look exactly like human men but I'd imagine it would be quite hard to do a man who isn't a man and doesn't look like just an alternative version of Asari. A red man with tentacles instead of hair?

I don't know if you realize this, but every non-human race in mass effect has had only one gender knowingly shown. Asari, all female-ish. Krogan, only males. Turians, only males. Salarians, only males. Volus, only male. Elcor, god knows if we've met a female one... Hanar I won't include because they might be mono-gendered too. And I don't want to know what a female Vorcha looks like. So yeah, except for humans, always only one sex in the mass effect universe

And do you really want SethGreen seducing Shepard?

We did see a female Krogan briefly in ME2 - she had a somewhat lighter voice than the others, but it was easy to miss. The general lack of other genders is interesting though - but we have seen male and female quarians, surely?

As for a Joker romance, I'm not a fan, really. He was always meant to be comic relief, and even femShep treats him as a platonic friend rather than a possible love interest. If we're going for ideal love interests, I'd rather re-introduce the original ME ones (Kaidan/Ashley) or one of the new squadmembers that is presumably appearing in ME3 (I say presumably, but I'm 100% certain, for reasons that are too long to go into again).

I thought that krogan was just an ambassador for the female clan? And I'm retarded and missed quarians. And just wondering about this, but the closest thing to a female salarian I've seen is the one that stands next to Ish. That one's features are ligher so it could be a silent female on. Or I could just be retarded as stated earlier

Since the female clan is literally all female, any ambassador would also have to be female (from what I remember from the game). I never checked that salarian, but since we've never been told what a female salarian looks like there's really no way of knowing...

What about Hanar? They all sound alike, in a somewhat masculine (but monotinous) tone. And there isn't much in the codex about them...
