Of course they were blind - just
metaphorically. They focused on the parts of the asari that were similar
to themselves (the Turian focused on the head fringe, the Salarian on
her flexibility, and the human on her... well, you know) and dismissed
everything else. Just as a human who likes asari wouldn't care that they
have tentacles on their heads, a turian who likes asari wouldn't care
that they have breasts.

This is not to say that asari can't use
psychic or neurochemical suggestion to enhance their appeal - the
Consort and Morinth probably go that route.

Morinth certainly displays limited mind control, wether that's due to her condition, or if her condition simply makes natural ability more pronounced and powerful however I have no idea.

Mind control eh?

That would explain a lot of things...

even a fugly, detestable asari can force people to like her. And thus, everyone loves the asari, for all the wrong reasons.

Did you know they put that mind control stuff in your drinks at the bar? Go to Ilium and get the mystery drink. Look at the bartender before and after, and say mind control substances weren't involved

No gay romances, This is shepards story and shepard wasn't gay for the first 2 thirds of it
And if there is it should be restricted to obviously gay squaddies like zevran in Dragon age Being gay is a character trait, and Would change my thoughts on My bro thane or garrus if i found out
There should only be specifically gay squaddies not everyone should be romancable by both sexes

Gay squaddies
Jack
Ashley
That is all

Jack states that she isn't into the whole "girls club" thing if you try to romance her as a female.
And Shepard could be gay/bisexual, maybe he just didn't find any of the squad-mates suitable.

I agree on one point though. None of the male squad-mates were gay. That's why Male Shepard can't romance Thane or Garrus. They aren't gay.

Of course they could have been Gay/Bi-sexual but that would mean none of the men found Shepard suitable for romance and Bioware could always just change that around to make them interested in Shepard for ME3. Thus, you have your Gay romance and everyone is happy. They gave in to the hordes of Tali fans begging for a romance, after all.

Lastly, prepare to get flamed and called an immature child and possibly banned for not supporting this thread, Shadow Broker.

All I want is the opposite of this. A non-sterotypical character to be romanced by both sexes. As a bisexual I found Zevran to be a HIGHLY sterotypical representative of male bisexuals. Can we have Kaiden or perhaps someone else who doesn't scream trope at the top of his lungs? You know? One that doesnt scream sociopathic rogue/depraved anything that moves bisexual?

I have to voice my opinion here, What will happen if i start a thread called I don't want gays in Mass effect 3
I don't think i'll be banned as long as i stay somewhat civil

Civil to you, maybe. To alot of supporters (Not all) anything that disagrees with homosexuality is trolling. Trolling = ban according to one of the Mods.

Me? I don't care either way. As long as the Gay squaddies don't start hitting on me.

When you walked up to talk to kadian in ME1 it screamed gay to me, (muscular kadian wipes his forehead as blue eyed beared buff dude walks up then they talk about feelings in very odd lighting)
If they do make a gay character he needs to be new or you can have jacob
and from my expiernce alot of gay dudes really do act like zevran in a very steortypical gay matter

Mordin is about the only character i wouldn't come screaming to the forums if i found out he was gay

I hope they see i'm not doing this to make them angry, But due to the overwhelming numbers on this thread i feel i should voice my opinion

If Kadian turns out to be gay in ME3 i'll go replay ME1 and leave him on virimire

they can Call me homophobic if they wish but not everyone can be as open to these things as others and the more it is pushed on me the more i feel the need to resist

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that when you walked up to Kaiden some action was about to start happening. And I'm not sure if you know, but they probably had planned of kaiden and ashley to be romanceable for both sexes in ME1. There's hidden dialogue available you can see on the PC.

For Ash:

For Kaiden:

As long as you stay civil, and dont troll there is no problem whith voicing a different opinion. Actually it is welcomed otherwise the thread would grow stale rather fast.
I cannot even say that I am too upset about you killing Kaidan if he turns out to be bisexual, because my main Shepard, who is gay, killed Ashley on Virmire because for some reason she believed they had a thing going and would not take no for an answer.
To answer a question from another post of yours. There once was a "No (male) homosexuality in ME" tread (Why do any opposesers to this topic miss the whole race of bisexual space babes and Kelly). It got trolled and flamed very fast, even though the more active members of the "Fight for the Love thread" several times tried to stop the trolling and remainded people to stay civil, even if you dont agree with them. We are really not the PC-fashists trolls make us out to be.

Im all of the Gays. Let the Gays be free and frolick around merrily in a field of roses and all that.

But I just cant see Shepard being gay. FemShep for sure since you can romance [spoiler]. But not MaleShep. It just seems..I dunno. It doesn't fit.

I'm bi and I agree with you. Its really up to the player though. Thats one of the things that makes mass effect so great though, everybody has a different experience and has varying opinions on the characters and moral choices. That being said, I know that this will really had some depth of the characters to a lot of people if they allow this.

You know I kinda got the same feeling...maybe it was just the lighting or the way Kaiden turns and looks at you, or Shep's slight slo-mo kinda walk in...After he told the story of his time at BAaT I figured he liked women but since he gave me that vibe i just considered him Bi from there on.

That is pretty offensive man, saying you would go back to play a 22 hour game just to kill off a character because of their sexual preference. But then who am I to judge? I left Ash because I considered her a highly unlikeable narrow-minded xenophobe...

I really wish people would stop veiling their bias with this sham consistency argument. The game is about narrative CHOICE. YOU choose what you want your Shephard to be. Male shep shouldn't be cast in stone as a hetero just as femshep isn't, if the player doesn't want them to be. If you didn't want your Shephard to be gay/bi then you wouldn't choose those options, in exactly the same way that you don't choose the renegade options if you don't want your Shephard to be something of a heartless jerk. It really is as simple as that.

Spoken so truly. Its like how in ME1 I was almost fully a Paragon and was pretty much nearly a saint but during the starting part when Wrex killed Fist I still always chose the "he deserved it, many innocent people died because of him" line rather than scolding Wrex. Sure the game decided it was the "renegade" choice, but hell, it fit me and the way I saw my Shep.

QFT.

If gayness offends you, don't participate. Jacob and femShep's dialogue options offend me, so my femSheps don't talk to Jacob beyond getting the Normandy upgrade and getting his loyalty mission (this would be solved by not making sexytalk mandatory in the game - poor show, Bioware, poor show indeed). None of my Sheps, male or female, are attracted to Tali - she's their kid sister - so I never pursue that line of dialogue. It's exactly the same: don't want to take that path = don't pick that option.

If there are reasons for your opinion it´s not trolling. But most who are opposed are like "No gay romances cos gay sucks!" followed by 10 times the same stupid rant (Flea, looking at you:innocent:)

And THAT is definitely trolling.

That's not mind control - just plain old beer goggles.
I feel like I should start issuing tinfoil hats to anyone dealing with asari. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/wink.png[/smilie]

Smacks of a last-minute change to me, similar to removing Thane as being bi as well. Jack was definitely a member of the "girls club" earlier in her life.

Pheremones ! = mind control. I've never denied that they might be subtly increasing their appeal with pheremones. But every species in the galaxy has those, so it's not enough on its own to explain the universal appeal of asari.

Jack never states that she was a lesbian/Bi-sexual earlier in her life. She hints that she experimented with women and apparently thinks the "girls club" wasnt for her. I didn't know experimenting automatically makes you a bi-sexual. Last-minute change, past experimentation or not, Jack clearly states she isn't into women.

Yes it is because they do it with much stronger stuff than other species.

In any case, it´s by far a better explanation than to say Salarians (who don´t have sex drives at all) find blue humans with tentalce hair attractive when they don´t find human women attractive.....
