Just out of curiosity, how is the French translation of Mass Effect? It's my second language and I've been toying with playing a runthrough in it.

I'm sure it's as close as it gets to perfectly translated, you might as well see how it turns out since ya have to do the prologue first anyhow. I imagine that'd be enough for a good sample.

They change some alien names in the French translation. Like salarians and batarians changing to galarien and butarians.

Wrex sounds like he could replace Gunther in the 'Tra la la' music video.

Can't be as bad as the Polish dub...

Interestingly, they didn't hire Yvonne Strahovski for the Polish voiceovers.

Mass Effect French translation?

Geth show up on Eden Prime.

Shepard surrenders.

Game Over.

$60 well spent!

I'm French and in my opinion the translation is very good. The voice acting is great for npcs, party members and for both male and female shepard (male shep is so so in english). Voices suit very well to the characters' personalites. It wasn't the case for dragon age which I play only in english.

It's not perfect though (but close to anyhow). Voice and subtitles sometimes dont' match. I also noticed a missing aria voice over in the samara loyalty quest : the answer she tells is nonsense but with subtitles it's ok. Archangel (no spoil) has sometimes a sarren look alike voice. And I think that's it.
These are minor issues and the overall quality is excellent.

Thank you. It's nice to have a native speaker's opinion.

Do you know what they call a Krogan in France? Le Hump Royal.

I second my compatriot. The translation is pretty good and voice acting of quality. Just some very minor glitches and some modifications of alien race names for obscure reasons.

Some examples of translations

Illusive Man - L'Homme Trouble

Warp - Deshire

Overload - Surcharge

Earth - La Terre

Pascale Chemin does a great performance of Comander Shepard.
