Nope, which makes building the vigils defences kind of silly.

Hmm, my game must have bugged then. I got the achievement for building all the keep defences, but it still fell.

If you upgraded all of the keep's defenses, the epilogue states that it will stand for a week before the walls collapse. Is this what you got, Rhys? If yes, I read that this is supposed to happen. Upgrading will make the keep more durable, but it is not exempt from destruction.

I got something about the outer walls falling but the inner defense holding, and all my companions holding out so valiantly the darkspawn gave up.

Me too. I upgraded the Vigil and my companions survived

There are certain companions that "disappear" even if you fully upgrade the keep if you left them to defend while saving Amaranthine. I left Velanna, got the achievement but her body was never found. FYI I wasn't able to trigger her personal quest, so that might have affected my ending. The same goes with Sigrun.

I did Velanna's personal quest and still got the "body never found" ending
