Does anyone know if you will be able to port game saves from your "old" 360's hard drive to this one's? If not, I will be very disappointed.

the old HDDs won't be compatible with Xbox 360 Slim but you'll be able to transfer data using a USB device or Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer kit.

I dont know if that comes with it or not though.

It doesn't; it's sold separately. However, if you have bought a 120GB HDD before, you should already have the transfer kit, as it is included with the retail package of the 120GB HDD.

Are you considering upgrading to the Slim, Funkcase?

I would buy it if I didn't already have a 360 elite. I just can't justify buying another (same) console right now. My next big purchase in that department will be the Kinect and a stack of games this fall, but thats just about it.

Good point. Why not just release a 250g hard drive? Buying a new console that has nothing up on the current one except that is a little odd to me.

I dont really see the point in paying X amount of money if you already have a perfectly fine 360, i for one have my elite, i've never had any problems with it and i still have another 3 years warenty with it, so unless it breaks after that, i won't be upgrading to a slim. Alos the peoblem with slim consoles is that they are effectivly the same console but in a smaller space, so the heat build up is stupid, thus leading to high failure rates, it happened with the PS2 slim, and its happned to uite a few PS3 slims aswel, however i guess time will tell if this new machine proves reliable. So unless my xbox packs up in 4 years time i'm not gonna bother, as i have everything the new one does apart from the looks and its size, (WIFI and 250GB HDD) i really, really can't see the point in 'upgrading' unless your console breaks and you have no warenty.

I agree. I don't like to buy first generation of any kind of technology, and I would consider this a first gen 360 slim. First gen Playstations, PS2's, PS3's, 360's, Wii's all had problems, and thats just consoles. And even if it doesn't have problems, the next gen of 360 slims will come with free games and improved parts (just like the 360 has done over and over). Don't get me wrong, its a cool machine, but you'd save yourself a lot of headache if you wait awhile to see what goes wrong with them before buying it. Just my opinion.

The heat is only a problem if they don't change the hardware accordingly. The percentage reduction from a "normal" 360 to the 360 Slim is smaller than PS2 > PS2 Slim, and I'm sure MS have taken measures to reduce the chances of overheating. The fact it has in-built WiFi and a new "backplate" as it were suggest there's a new motherboard.

I'd get one if I didn't already have an xbox, but it doesn't seem like it's worth the money to upgrade.

That's what I'm concerned about Bryzon. My 360 is done, down, out for the count. I really want the new model but knowing that it's the first edition of this particular model makes me iffy. I don't want to end up in the same situation I'm in now.

Hmmmm, i'm thinking on entering the "Xbox 360 owners club", but i'll only buy a slim if they REALLY solve the overheating problem.

I think it looks really nice, aesthetically and in terms of specs, but I'm not really in the market for another 360.

And Brazil gets Xbox Live this year too, I believe. I say go for it.

I'm almost buying one, but i'm still worried about the overheat, i don't have A/C and the Xbox doesn't fare very well on tropical climates... :crying:

I'll probably get a slim when my current 360 dies. But not before I make sure this new model won't burn my house down.

Well obviously there's no need for me to get one unless my Jasper goes boom. Had it now for about 16 months and so far it's near perfect (knock on wood). By the way, it's my first 360. Assuming it dies after the warranty runs out I would consider getting one of these however I'd like to see some technical specs before I do. Unless they've done some major work on the internal components, like they did with the 65nm CPU/GPU in the Jasper, I don't see how this new "slim" is going to react better to heat damage over time than its predecessors. I have a bad feeling they've made the problems worse....

This definitely looks appealing to me, double my current space and probably a longer life than the normal 360 model

Just wonder if I can sell my crappy Wireless Adapter (it is the Pelican model)

I'll be buying one since my old Xbox360 broke and I really want to play Alan Wake.

I'll wait until the kinect Bundles come out to see if I want to "upgrade". I kind of wish they went with flat black though.

You can buy the 250gb hard drive seperately in the US and Japan.  I'm not sure about Europe.

Other than the 250gb hard drive (which new collector's edition consoles had) the "slim" has built in wireless N, 5 USB ports (2 front 3 back), and a special Kinect port that also supplys power to Kinect (older model users have to plug in a seperate power source for the Kinect).
