*a nice review*

Agreed for the most part. :D

The opinions on the Hammerhead are pretty much unanimous, so I'll not go into detail other that to say, yep, it really needs to improve! But we've been saying that since Firewalker...

I enjoyed Overlord a lot, definitely well worth the 4,88 Euros. B)

You gotta suck pretty bad to think that Hammerhead sections are so difficult that only the most skilled will be able to complete them. May I suggest toning down to Casual?

You are correct sir, I do suck at Arcade style games such as Frogger. That is the reason I play RPGs. The HH portions are nothing but glorified Arcade games and to me detract from the RPG. and from reading other posts it appears that I am not the only 1 who is dissatisfied with the Hammerhead and its use in the 2 DLCs.

Instead of reviewing i am just going to list the tweaks needed for the HH.

1. We Need to be able to save while in HH mode.

2. It NEEDS shields and a health meter.

3. Less platforming.

4. The ability to enter/exit the HH at will. Maybe i got spoiled by ME 1, but i like taking a few

turrtets/enemys out with the vehicle, then getting out and finishing the rest off on foot

with my team. I really miss that freedom.

Otherwise everthing else is spot on, and Overlord left me wanting more.

So far I've only done the satellite station and am midway through Vulcan station. I did notice one annoying bug- when you're trying to blow up the satellite dish, Shepard gets stuck turned around and your camera angle won't change Shepard's direction. Very annoying and caused a single game over for me, but when I reloaded it didn't rear its ugly head again.

So far the story is decent, though I had hoped that bringing Tali and Legion along would cause more interaction than a guy asking if Legion was going to be a problem. This is probably because BioWare couldn't get the voice actors back for the DLC.

Squadmates need to talk, some people would give interesting dialouge, legion, miranda, jacob, mordin, jack and tali. No one says anything = dissapointing.

I don't think its a spoiler to say that Shepard himself has some pretty good lines in this one. The "got to be kidding" one in particular was a hoot.

i really liked the DLC. the story really surprised me, as well as the cool new puzzles and places to explore. looks like Bioware was serious when they said they have a separate division working DLC for this game.

Kasumi's DLC looked fantastic and her mission was awesome, so was this. Plus the final scene was one of the best in ME2, even though it was a stand alone mission.

This gives me really high hopes for possible bridge DLC that it will be meaningful and really well done.

I actually thought the Hammerhead VI had the funniest lines this time.

Agreed.

Am I the only one who doesn't have trouble with dying in the Hammerhead?  Hide behind cover, pop out, shoot, hide.  I play on Insanity, fwiw, and I'm hardly some super leet twitch gamer.  It's a flying hovercraft, not a tank like the Mako.  But I do agree that we should get some sort of visual HUD that would show us damage.

3. Less platforming.

To put this another way, more exploring.  I really liked that part of Overlord; the environment modelers outdid themselves there.  Yay for shifty cows!

My only real dislikes about the Hammerhead now is a certain "bounciness"--  I wish it felt like it had more weight.  But then many might complain it's hard to control if it had inertia.  And I wish it looked a bit dirtier and beat up.  To my eyes, it still has the look of a plastic model.

Yeah, the complete absence of a HUD is a bigger problem than its lack of defenses. The weak little alarm noise when it's in danger of blowing up is always drowned out by the shooting, and before you know it, you go kerplooie. It's annoying.

I like the platforming, though, it's surprisingly well done and puts a bit of challenge into getting around - in a much more fun way than... you know... realizing yet again that this particular slope is 0.5 degrees too steep and you have to start over from the bottom. *cough*

BTW, does someone recognize Archer's voice? I'm 99% sure it's the same voice actor as one of the Quarians in Tali's loyalty mission...

Wah wah wah. I'm a spoiled baby who can't handle some small and simple vehicles sections. I suck at video games. WAAAH

Fixed.

Ok Fanboi, whatever you say. I can handle the vehicle fine moron, it just sucks. You can keep sucking on BioWare's teet, but I won't. I don't have to justify my opinions to brainless retards like you. You're the middle link in a BioWare human centipede, eating whatever **** they shove down your throat without complaint. How's it feel to be a mindless drone?

Again, the main game was great, brilliant even; but all of the DLC so far has been subpar. Both from an integration standpoint and from an execution standpoint. Again, I refer you to what Bethesda did with Fallout 3 to see how to do proper DLC.

Try not to cry the next time someone disagrees with you, it makes you look like more of a child than you clearly already are.

Has anyone tried to play overlord in a playthrough were they have not found the Hammerhead yet?

Does Overlord only unlock once you have the HH?

Im off to see!

I accidentally played it with a shepard that hadn't picked up the hammerhead yet but the vehicle was still there.

you and me both! I'm pretty sure it'll happen, the DLC strategies for both games are very similar.

for me this is the best dlc up to now, and a very good ending it made me fell guilty, even with my renegade shepard I free him.

For starters, I'd like things to start getting away from Cerberus now if possible. The dilemma and story most definitely suited their style, don't get me wrong... I don't think it would have worked quite as well otherwise. But the fact is, we already got a lot of Cerberus stuff in ME2 as it was, with pretty much everything linked to them in some way...

Nice review, I agree with you about the areas, it's nice to see a world with fauna and their own proper feeling.
Remembers me some of the UCN missions, some worlds were very well designed, like the "Colony of the Dead" in ME1 (ok, the mission itself is rather dull, but the planet was very good).

Also, I endorsed your view, we need more content like this, balanced between a good story, atmosphere and fighting.

The point I desagree with you is that Overlord don't seems like a mission post-finishing the game, is more likely to be played in some point in the middle or beginning.
Kasumi is another one.

The DLC that don't apply to this is Zaeed, IMO.

I will replay Overlord in a new playtrough, I bet the value to this will be great and I'm with the impression that the missions will be much more harder, even if the game ajust the enemies to your level.

BTW, anyone experienced some problems with the DLC? I installed Overlord and then applied the 1.02 patch.
It seems that my Coalesced was reseted (my bindings for taking screeenshots, disabling the HUD and free camera were gone) and I lost some weapon upgrades (my Locust "lost" the ammo capacity, now it only carries 240 shots, instead of 360).
I'm on a PC.

First I'll say that I thought it was fun, for the most part. And I have to agree with most of the deficiencies that were pointed out about the Hammerhead. But for me the feeling I most came away with was a little disappointment that the story wasn't better intergraded into the main story. The dialog would work fine if this mission was played before the jump through the omega four relay, but not so much after.

Not to mention that there are plenty of loose plot threads from both ME1 and ME2 that could have been made into DLC that makes me question why this story. Sure it was fun, but did it really add anything to the overall narrative? Something like, remember in ME1 when you had a chance to give some Cerberus information to the Shadow Broker? Maybe a DLC about the ramifications from that decision? I think that there are already so many branching plot threads that Bioware could put out dozens of DLCs about them with out adding any more new stories.

I'm pretty damn sure it's him, Simon Templeman, who not only did Admiral Han'Gerrel but also Teyrn Loghain in Dragon Age.

No, I agree with everyone who says that the HH needs stronger armor. I just don't think these sections are that difficult. Did you try reducing the difficulty level? I would hope that helps, but I haven't played below Hardcore in the HH so I don't know...

It is indeed Simon, as he is listed in the end game credits for the Overlord DLC.
