David Gaider already stated 2 grey wardens cannot have children together. He used the warden romancing Alistair as an example of 2 wardens who would never be able to have children together. A warden however can have a child with someone who isn't a warden.

Here is a link to the explanations by David Gaider: http://social.biowar...504&lf=8#455902

In my DA:O, my female Warden and Leliana, with the help of a rogue blood mage convinced a child which turned out to be normal. No taint whatsoever. I will keep you guys updated as she grows older. She is just a baby as of now and Leliana is taking care of her. Wynne helped greatly through the pregnancy. Leliana carried the baby, not my female Warden as my female Warden is the "man" of the relationship. Leliana has more of a motherish touch anyways. Looking at her face, she has the female Warden's strength and Leliana's gentleness.

I also have "runscript pc_immortal" on my female Warden so she won't have to go to the deep roads after 30 years. So she will be with Leliana for the rest of her life raising their child, dying of old age as normal people would.
I will also "runscript pc_immortal" the baby so she can grow healthy and beautiful as both of her mothers.

It's simple. With double taint, the child would be an archdemon.

Didn't you ever wonder where little archdemons came from ?

pfff, please, with enough fire in their pants and some magical help even horses and donkeys can have offspring, not to mention two young healthy people who were tainted for six months at most.

Horses and donkeys are very closely related and have been crossbred to produce mules for centuries without the aid of magic, what with the fact that magic does not exist.

Or are you attributing the effects of what we call genetics to magic because it's too sufficiently advanced for you to understand?

Do you pay attention to what the people in the game say? Where did you even get that idea? Alistair mentions many times that his mother was a servant in Arl Eamon's castle.

Ouch! Somebody never looked up the meaning of the word "Joke" in wikipedia...

And here I thought we were getting along so well. I was even going to name one of my children after you... the grumpy one.
(right on the spot  )

P.S. And thank you for illuminating me, or illustrious one, without you, I would've never guessed that thing about horses and donkeys... Never, ever!

I'm not sure why you posted this in this topic. Why not try and write a fanfiction instead. Image IPB

On-topic:

Becoming a Warden makes one less fertile. The changes of a warden and a normal person conceiving a child are thus very slim, but not impossible.

The chances of two Wardens having a child is zero, without outside magical help.

I do believe Flemeth was tainted and started having daughters (without spoiling too much) then would give birth with the taint also.

May be an indication of what would happen if 2 Grey Wardens did have a child. And perhaps what your hero's child will be in a future DA when it is grown up?

Could it mean the main character in DA2 is perhaps your son? Who knows :P

Well he didn't give birth to the child did he :P Since Morrigan ran off, but to where? Nobody knows :D And it would be perfect in terms of age of DA2's main character and the Denerim battle. Kinda adds up :)

But since the peeps at Bioware have decreed it is not, im sure we will seem him at one point sometime, perhaps as an old man or King, or even more terrifying a male Flemeth  eeek

After reading the books, playing the game, and searching all over online I have come to this conclusion:

Alistair is the son of Fiona and Maric.

If you look at what little time lines we are given in the books they go like this:

Maric

Age 18 - Mother is killed (The Rebel Queen)
he spends 2 years and several months battling when he meets Katriel
he spends another 3 years fighting for his throne when he finally calls for a duel between himself and Meghren
he assumes the throne at the age of 24.
At the end of the Stolen Throne, Cailan is 12 years old.

At the start of The Calling, Cailan is 5 years old and it says that Rowen (Cailan's mother) has been dead for 3 years and that Maric killed Katriel 8 years ago.
Here he has an affair with Fiona. A pregnancy is 9 months or so long so we can assume that at the end of The Calling when Fiona presents the baby to Maric that close to a year has passed. This would make Cailan approx 6 years older than that baby.

At the beginning of the game Origins, it makes a statement that the Orlesians have not ruled Ferelden for 30 years and that Cailan has ruled for 5 years. Considering this, Maric was approx 49 when he was lost at sea as David Gaider has stated.

If you look at this time line you also see that Cailan would have been 25 when he took the throne. This puts the baby that I am going to say is Alister at age 19 when Cailan takes the throne and 24 when Cailan dies at Ostagar
The way that I get this is by looking at all the times that are given:
Maric age 18 – mother dies
Maric age 20 – meets Katriel
Maric age 21 – kills Katriel
Maric age 24 – assumes his throne / Cailan born
Maric age 26 – Rowan dies – Cailan 2 years old
Maric age 29 – The Calling takes place / Meets Fiona and baby born / Cailan starts at 5 years old is 6 years old by the end or close to it
Maric age 35 or 36 – Epilogue for the Stolen Throne takes place / Cailan 12 years old / baby 6 or 7 years old
Maric age 49 – Lost at sea / Cailan assumes the throne at age 25 / baby age 19
Cailan age 30 – Killed at Ostagar / baby age 24

All of this puts Alister at the perfect age. It is also said that Fiona asks for the baby to be raised away from court. She also makes a comment about the baby assuming her dead and him completely human. There is also a comment made about the baby believing he is the child of a washerwoman. All of this fits with what Alister believes of himself. Also Duncan offers to keep Maric up to date with news of the child. This means that Duncan would have known where the child was going and would have been able to keep an eye on him. David Gaider also makes a comment that the codex is not gospel. He states that it is information that the character believes to be true.

There is no canonical baby-granting mage in the game.

If you want to imagine a baby-granting mage, Avernus (from the "Soldier's Peak" DLC) is a pretty good choice, since his research involved the taint.

Yes.  And Fiona had something happen to her that either negates the taint's damaging effect or slows it down quit considerably.  Alistair may have recieved this from his mother.  (at least that's what I'm reading into it).

I suspect that we'll be seeing Alistair's mother in a big role coming up in DAIII.  By all rights, she should have sucumbed to the Calling already but she hasn't.

I would hope that we get some history on her post Calling at the very least. I'm also curious as to how, or even if, Alistair's recent comic plays into the new game.
