If you can't install any of the DLC's from the desktop, then go into safe mode and install from there.
With all drivers and startup programs disabled, it won't be stopped by some program, usually your security ones, and will install very quickly, usually around three minutes.
To get into safe mode, on restart, press whatever function key is set to get up the "options" screen, usually F8, sometimes F3, just before the XP loading screen appears, (Just keep tapping the key after the Bios has loaded) and select "safe mode with networking".
Log-on as administrator, (hope you remembered your password) and install the DLC.
Good Luck.

I've spent the last couple days trying to get my DLC to install. I tried this, and it worked instantly. Thanks!

I have the same problem, I tried contacting the Tech support, and they didn't solve my problem, it's a pitty. First, the installer gives me the NSIS error, I use the /NCRC command in the console of windows to skip the protection check that windows does, and... nothing, the installerruns up to 60% aproximately and the message "Installation Failed" and the installation is interrupted, I tried cleaning the temp folder, I tried closing innecessary processes in Windows tasks, I used different Navigators such as Chrome and Firefox DownitAll to download it, I downloaded it from different computers, I deactivated the firewall, the antivirus, I change the downloads folder, As you can see I tried a lot of things... More things than the tech support suggested me... Did I waste my money?? No tech support people from Bioware have solved my problem... If anyone knows something, I'd be very grateful... I'm getting tired of this...

These errors are to do with the quality of connection between you and the EA/Bioware servers, not to do with the product itself. All I can suggest are the following things, and apologies if you have already been through them.
- Do NOT use any form of wireless networking, either local or internet. Packet loss over wireless is far too great. Use a decent quality wired connection, go to an Internet Cafe if you have to.
- Do NOT use any form of download accelerator. Like using wireless, they can cause packet drops as they shift lines trying to find a quicker download route.
- Opera and Chrome have thus far been the most reliable browsers to use for people who are having these sorts of problems. Make sure you purge the internet cache first, as well as purging your Windows temp folder
- Make sure you run the install app as administrator, and/or, disable UAC entirely.

I've been having a different issue ; every time I've tried to install one of the free DLCs, I get a popup message stating that 'Mass Effect 2 does not appear to be installed, install the game and try again later' after the installer finishes 'verifying'. I have the game on Steam, and have run it several times (well over 90 hours in it by now), so the Steam directory has formed (manually checked this one). Any ideas?

Thanks for the quick reply, but I found a different fix that has worked so far. I had to run Steam, ME2, and then the DLC installers as Administrator to let the registry fix itself.
Besides, the post your link leads to appears to be aimed at EA Download Manager users, whereas I use Steam. Anyway, thanks again for the help.

I have a very reliable internet connection, not wireless, the problem seems to be different. I´m trying now a combination of all the methods I used before to see if I´m lucky this time...

If you havent tried the Opera browser, I would suggest giving that a shot. There have ben a few peolpe who have had no luck with Chrome, but Opera did it perfectly.

Well, finally after a week of trying repeatedly, I could install it, I used diffferent procedure combinations. I download it in a Laptop at work, using Firefox extension DownitAll, then I transferred the file to an external drive source. Atfter that, I connected this external drive to the PC where the game is installed, I previously cleaned all the files from the Temp folder and I ended unnecessary processes from the task manager. Something important and key is that the system should be in Safe Mode at that moment (Someone explained this before in this thread) So,I ran the file using the console of windows adding /NCRC to avoid the installer corruption message and of course, I ran it from the external source, not from the hard disc. And this is how I did it. I hope this could be useful to anyone who has this same issue. See you!
