Would have thought BW should have spotted this one since Legion & Tali are the ovbious choices when fighting Geth & AI.

Absolutely correct. Drain shield and keep AI hacking and you practically have most enemies fighting themselves.

In addition, game time with Legion was very limited in the regular game if you go save your crew. One reason I chose Legion was to use him more.

P.S. Added later -- That Legion doesn't work is all the more puzzling considering that the scientist on the station, if you bring Legion in the first mission, asks you: "Is your friend going to be a problem?" Shepard replies: "If there's one Geth in the galaxy that can't be hacked, it's this one." IIRC.

I'm with Thompson here. They really should have caught this one earlier.

I've updated the top post to provide the information gathered in the thread so far. Hopefully Bioware releases a fix for this.

@Marcin R: I have no idea if your issue is related or not. I would suggest posting a separate topic and seeing if anyone else has the problem. Edit: I see you did already. Good for you! All I can suggest for you is fiddling with it till you get it working (might want to try using a save editor to change loadouts and team setups, but be careful with those).

Not sure if it is the RAM that is consumed, I've got 16GB on my Win 7 x64 PC and no other programs running at the same time so if it was RAM consumption it was a hell of a lot!

Been playing through the Overlord DLC. I'm really enjoying it! However, after completing Vulcan Station, I headed to Prometheus Station and the game crashes everytime I try to move past the loadout screen. I've never had the game crash on me at that screen like this before. Wondering if anyone is having the same problem or has any fixes.

Possibly Revelant Data:
OS: Vista 64-bit

Total DLC: Everything except Collectors edition and the Dr-Pepper Night-vision goggles.

Might be a graphics issue. I'll try lowering my graphics settings.

Same here, to fix it I replaced Coalesced.ini with a backup copy I did before editing the file, everything worked fine after that.

@digby 69: If there's damaged or unfinished code running, it could attempt to run a single process in an infinite loop or an infinite number of times simultaneously, so it could viably eat up your entire CPU and RAM with a useless process, which also causes windows to receive it as not-responding.

@guacamayus: I'll need to try that myself to see if that fixes it, but for now I've added that to the top post, with a request to see if whoever is having this problem was using a modified Coalesced.ini along with their sys-info. I know I was personally.

Ok, so here's a quick thought: if the issue is a modified Coalesced.ini + Legion, then it would explain why Bioware didn't catch it. They probably test using unmodified Coalesced.ini.

Playing with modified Coalesced.ini and Legion caused no crash whatsoever on my end.

XP Pro SP3, Core2Duo 8500, HD 4870 1GB (Catalyst 10.5), 3.25 GB RAM

But something else happened:

Mysteriously the extra shotgun shells upgrade stopped working two times. Nothing a reload couldn't solve, but still...

I also desire to take Legion and Tali to Prometheus. I can take Katsumi and Tali, but it won't let me take Legion and Tali.

My computer is pretty robust. So i doubt it would be ram, unless the program had a memory leak.
Win7 64bit, 6GB ram, Intel i7 920, ATI 4870x2

This forum is for fans and owners of Mass Effect 2 on the PC to assist each other with technical questions. It seems that this problem is confined to Vista and Win 7 with an odd one out with XP.

I have been to the Prometheus Station and had zero problems.
However every time I try and go to the Vulcan Station the game crashes on me, basically locks up on the first load screen.

Windows 64bit XP  +  Steam

All drivers up to date.

Slightly annoyed as I was really looking forward to playing it this weekend, but will have to hope Bioware fix it and patch it soon ...
