Bioware at E3

Now that EA has announced everything it can at the 3 conferences, is there still a chance we will hear more about Mass Effect? Are we going to hear anything new about the ME universe, future DLC, something far reaching in 2011?

Keep in mind that along with LucasArts, Bioware is very actively showing the Old Republic MMO.

There you can see the schedule for E3. The only Bioware-stuff I can see is SW: ToR, but there are some confidential so maybe they'll show something else to

Yeah I saw a similar lineup at IGN. Here's hoping that we hear some more about Mass Effect!

Heh, shame the gameplay coverage of TOR shows it to be your typical WoW clone in group combat.
so copying the best selling MMO ever is a bad thing? If this is WoW with lightsabers it will fly off the shelves

as long as it achieves the kind of polish and pure fun wow-battle provide, there's nothig wrong with this. Alas, no one has come close as of today. TOR looks badass though. Best Trailer at E3, just like last year.

Considering that I hate WoW's trinity-based combat, yes, yes it is. I don't care if they manage to make a killing on the game. I care about my own enjoyment of it, just the same as every other player out there does. WoW-style group combat isn't enjoyable anymore.
It was alright back in EQ, it wasn't bad back in '04 when WoW first came out... but to think that this is the only way they can design group content is very disappointing. It's been over 10 years of this Trinity-based combat system. It's bland, boring, and uninspired.

EA confirmed that there won't me any mass effect 3 announcements. Why do you guys insist that they're lying? It was a mistake, along with DA:2. Get over it.

I'm not sure anyone implied they were holding out hope for Mass Effect 3... anyway that would have been announced first thing monday morning! I'm just hoping to hear more about the DLC, and whatever else Bioware is willing to share at E3...

I can think of several WoW clones in the recent past that fell flat on their faces. You know, since everyone that loves WoW gameplay is already playing WoW.
Exactly.

So in the end, it's not so bad.

For the 12 million that like it and Blizzard, maybe. For LucasArts/BioWare to have taken this route is surprising and disappointing. Because as it was stated above, the people that like WoW's combat are already playing WoW. Even if the story and solo game can hook players early, the WoW-style group content will end up pushing players back to it.

I'm not sure someone keyboarding turning and backpedaling is a great indication of how the gameplay will actually feel, but if your only point of contention is group oriented "trinity" based combat has been done you're certainly correct there. I think that there is still plenty of time for BioWare to break the "WoW-clone" in how that Consular operates. There was a whole lot of downtime in that demo.
I'm with you on the point that using the trinity isn't my favorite choice, but it certainly isn't the only thing that will pull players back to, or initially pulled players towards, WoW.

I can't say for certain, but I don't think Bioware intends to pigeonhole people into healing the way WoW did in it's early days. IF you don't think they should include classes that can be healers, you're just trying to remove any motivation for people who like to heal from playing the game.

40:00 in is the TOR segment. 53:00 in is the demo of group combat. It's from the Consular's perspective even. Press your '1' key over and over and over and over and over and over.....

Just because they show a Consular healing doesn't mean every consular has to heal. And again, there are many people who find support roles to be more enjoyable. When you consider the fact we don't really know how far the characters are progressed, you're just speculating on the depth of the healer's ability.
But if you hate the "trinity" that happens to make sense for logical and solid group gameplay, it doesn't really matter what I think. You probably won't like the game.
