Bioware at E3

I was dead wrong.
Everything I've seen looks like trash. Like the same old junk that gets pumped out in every generic MMORPG to date. I am on the verge of vowing to never ever again play a Star Wars games that does not have Lightsabers. Is it too much to ask that a Star Wars game has Lightsabers in it? Please? If I wanted to beat people with a glowing baton I'd get a wooden pole and paint it with glow-in-the-dark neon.
How many months did people bug the devs on the SWTOR forums to make the lightsabers actually cut things? How many hundreds and hundreds of people offered mechanic ideas, suggestions, down-on-my-knees begging pleads?
And while I realize that footage was still beta, the animation was atrocious. I thought they were playing a KOTOR mod, it looked so similar. Have you all made no advances since that game? None? I saw visuals and model animations in other new games that made my eyes bleed from the sheer glory of it. And this is the best you can offer after how many years of development?
Seriously BioWare, you dropped the ball. I am so so very disappointed.

Same reason the Wii is so popular and why MicroSoft is pushing that Kinect system so hard. They all want the cash-cow that is the casual gamer.

Well graphically you have to realize that they're following WoW's lead. They're keeping it low-end of computer specs so that more people can play. Unfortunately for us, the gaming market is mostly the casual players, the people that can only play like 4-10 hours a week. These people don't upgrade their systems often. This demographic is why WoW is so successful, it's accessible to these players due to soloable content.
This is also a good thing for me, who for the forseeable future will be playing on a laptop with a low-end processor and video card. I can imagine that other PC gamers on a budget will appreciate the graphics being kept low-end.

I think the only mention of Mass Effect so far was the interview Joystiq conducted with Casey Hudson, but that was done before E3 and just uploaded now (coinciding with the Overlord DLC). www.joystiq.com/2010/06/15/interview-bioware-casey-hudson-on-the-making-of-mass-effect-2/

Are there no signs of Mass Effect at E3? Not even a mention by the Bioware guys pimping The Old Republic there?

Yeah that is a really good interview. There is a good one on x360a.org also. http://www.xbox360ac...g-Minerals.html
Supposedly ME is on the show floor, but I don't know for sure. Other than that there is no word of Mass Effect at E3...

However, Bioware's biggest thing at the moment is SW: TOR, so naturally they will try to show as much of it as they can to increase hype/exitement for the game.

Pity, too -at least for me, because TOR doesn't interesst me *at all* (MMO set in a pseudo-family friendly setting...urghh). *Sigh*StowyMcStowstow wrote...

Hopefully we will at least get some news on the upcoming DA/ME DLCs. It seems pretty unlikely atm, though

Definitely not. This will run on a Pentium.Ingrimm22 wrote...
Don't get your hopes up guys, when it launches TOR will still need system specs today considered high-end to be playable.
If Mass Effect 2 can run on entry level PCs, then so can The Old Republic.

Yeah, that was a great interview with a ton of news and teases at the time, but it's over a month old now.Gumbeaux Jr wrote...

I'm holding out hope for anything Mass Effect related. It was awesome to have Overlord (fantastic stuff) released during E3, but I wanted something to be announced too. I'd take a tease for some new DLC. I just want my favorite franchise to have some sort of presence at the gaming event of the year. Fingers crossed!

Well it certainly can run on entry level systems but it looks and performs like crap. And Biowar have no experience with massive outdoor enviroments on a client/server Basis. Expect poor performance on all but high end machines come launch. mark my words.
