It does seem like it would be great for a Starfox game

I'm glad they're actually making some exclusive titles for the 3DS.
The DSi's hardware is apparently more powerful than the regular DS and DS Lite's, but where are the DSi exclusive games? I've never seen one.

Anything that uses the camera. Really the Dsi wasn't around long enough (or different enough) to build up a library of it's own, why alienate an established user base? There are some games that run like crap on a regular ds though so that kinda counts.

...I'm probably the only one interested in how much better it would work as a web browser, right?

So I guess that was the DSi's big feature...a camera. The last thing I want to see is portable consoles turn into cell phones. I hope the 3DS keeps it simple and doesn't try to be more than a gaming machine.

DSi-exclusive games also really just count anything off the DSiWare store. These didn't have to use the DSi's assets; as it was basically Xbox Marketplace/Steam/PSN Store for the DSi.

Cameras, a little more power, different styling, and downloadable games and such, I think I mainly bought it because the shoulder buttons on my lite were shot. The 3ds is all new hardware.

There is a way to run Skype or some similar prog on a ds using wifi but it's a hack.

Edit: ninja'd

I still have the original DS and it works fine, screens are still in great shape also.

I keep mine in my pocket at work and I have a fairly physical job. If you leave the thing at home it'll be fine. There's an original ds floating around here as well. The 3Ds doesn't look more rugged so I think I'll have to find another way to carry it.

3Ds obviously has to be quite a bit more powerful than regular DS. Stereo 3D literally double to load on GPU anyway since it has to render the picture twice on two slightly different angles.

But what worries me is batterylife.

Yeah, battery life wasn't something I considered, that could be a problem.

Also 3D pictures? Hmm, I sense a new Warioware game, as these days they seem to be Nintendo's go to demo of concept set.

I thought of it, I'm willing to carry a battery pack around but I don't know if everybody would as I also dress up in cardboard costumes.

The 3D doesn't consume any power, at least, it's negligible. It uses something called Parallax Barrier technology, which are essentially two screens overlaid with another, with precisely angled slits that sends picture to one eye and the second to the other. Thus, stereoscopic 3D that works incredibly well. And it really does, I got my greasy paws on one on the showfloor yesterday, and I really couldn't believe it.

I am now more hyped for this console than any console ever, with the exception of maybe the Sega Saturn which oddly enough I never got. But whatever, this thing looks awesome and even if it falls flat on its face I'm still gonna get it just for the experience :P

Already its kind of messed up for how jazzed I am for old games being ported to it just because its 3D! LOL

Yeah, something about seeing games in 3D without glasses is just too amazing to pass up.

The only thing I going to say about the 3Ds is this. Zelda: Ocarina of Time! Remake. Heres the proof!

It's not a remake. It's just a port.

That said, Nintendo did confirm their working on making equipping items a lot easier, so the entire ordeal of equipping and reequipping Iron Boots in the Water Temple should supposedly be done away with.

IGN: I think one of the big surprises at the show was the 3DS. We
knew the new Wii Zelda was happening -- you showed some artwork for it
last year. But the 3DS showing Ocarina of Time 3D, that was a big
surprise. I think it excited people. I was wondering if you could talk
about some of the ideas you have. Not just adding depth, but some of the
gameplay elements we might see. Will it be a direct port, or an
enhanced game?

Aonuma:
We've talked about remixing Ocarina of Time for a long time,
saying "should we remake Ocarina of Time for Wii?" And, to be honest, I
said no. I didn't want to just re-release it on a different platform --
I wanted to have a specific reason to remake Ocarina of Time. I didn't
want to just make a port
. And so I was waiting for something to come
along that would not only help us to retell the story, but improve upon
it. Making it different, more unique in its own way. Now, with 3D, we're
able to take the environments of Hyrule and add depth -- giving them a
more expansive feeling, a more immersive feeling. In addition to that,
now that we have the 3D we can looking forward to new ways to implement
3D into the gameplay and make it fresh and new. And we also have the
motion sensors that are built-in to the Nintendo 3DS. So we're looking
at quite a few ways to make the gameplay more immersive, more natural,
more accessible. So again, not just a port -- but a retelling of the
tale using new technologies to reinvent it.
