Though it also had a thinner atmosphere, so less air friction and higher terminal velocity...
Back to guessing.

Jack cutting through three YMIR mechs is also in the game. You have to allow for dramatic effect in cinematics.Foolsfolly wrote...
I know that, Pacifien, but it's in the game. He's going through reentry as the title cuts in. There's also the fact that Legion seemingly found the N7 armor on that planet which suggests that the Blue Suns cut Shepard out of the armor.*snip*

People tend to associate reentry with burning up because they think of Space Shuttle or Apollo, but those reenter at very high speeds due to the nature of the orbits they're coming in from. We don't really know whether Normandy had any sort of orbital velocity relative to the planet. In fact it most likely did not, or it wouldn't actually crash planetside. It also wouldn't pick up thousands of kph just by falling from a few hundred kilometers height.
There's also such thing as a "terminal velocity". At a certain velocity, air drag becomes stronger than gravity, slowing you down - so it's kinda hard to fall faster than that (unless, again, you come in at several kps and burn up before you slow down). Granted, terminal velocity is still enough to get you killed, but it is "slow" enough that the body wouldn't completely disintegrate on impact. Kinetic barriers could theoretically soften the impact somewhat.
Ok here are some numbers for Low Earth Orbit. circular orbit: 6.9 to 7.8 km/s, elliptic orbit: 6.5 to 8.2 km/s. If you consider that the Normandy might have been moving a little slower say, 4 km/s, still have Shepard with a velocity of over 14000 kph. Also terminal velocity is not really going to be an issue. The lower velocities that you're talking about will only be applicable, if Shep's body reachs the lower atmosphere.
So I'm still on the side of if there was reentry, the blue suns only recovered ash.

I'm suggesting that upon exiting FTL mode Normandy was right above planet's atmosphere, with 0m/s velocity relative to the planet, and just fell down like a brick once shot down by the Collectors. The Grey Ranger wrote...

Of course there wouldn't be any reentry flames around Shepard in that case, and Normandy looks like it's much farther from the planet, but you gotta realize that the game is done by a large group of people. Someone writes a script that says "shot one: Normandy arrives at the planet ... final shot - Shepard falls down into planetary atmosphere". Then someone else draws sketches of how he imagines that happening. Then some yet another person approves the variant that looks most dramatic, and passes it to the team that makes cutscenes. Then the guy who wrote the script looks at the result and goes "wtf, that's not what I wrote at all", to which he is told that doing it differently will cost $X,000, Y days of animation team's time (who are busy doing other cutscenes), and the script makes so little sense overall that it's a moot point arguing about details. So yea...
Well I'm on the side that they recovered a body in good enough condition to reanimate it, because the plot says so. Granted, it's one the lamest plot turns I've ever encountered in a story that tries to take itself more or less seriously, but it's there and we have to deal with it.So I'm still on the side of if there was reentry, the blue suns only recovered ash.

Sheppard is full of tech and nanites, just watch the opening, it's not hard to beleive that these could send signals through his nerves. He's basically a cyborg.
This ^^
You are repaired by machines, not only that READ some of those beautiful upgrades you can get, like the skin-weaves. If you had not noticed, your pretty much part man, part machine and I would imagine that your not the only one (of any species). So, how did you get "hacked"? simple, he accessed you via all your tech componants, it would not be hard to imagine that there is some tech in your eyes as well so I think you can see how one could be hacked.
Its much like how a car now adays could, in theory, get a computer virus, they are just mechanical anymore.
Edit:
Of the theory that they only recovered ash, then why would you have such a large container constantly refering to "Shepards remains" in the comic? Admit it, you wouldn't, unless you are an fool and the type to put Ashes in a coffin.

I do? WIthout that moment there's really no proof that Jack's a powerful biotic outside of the game constantly insisting that she is. That's our only visual proof that she's a strong biotic.
