Motion Plus is a big point in why the Wii is a failure. Obviously many consoles recently throw out a better remote but selling you a part of the remote that should have come out (or worked like that) in the first place? Heck Sonic games are still hard with the Motion Plus ... you know what sorta impossible without the classic Control.Onyx Jaguar wrote...
Motion Plus does a good job, besides many games I have played (that are good) do not rely on the motion controls but use them in a clever way, like No More Heroes and Super Mario Galaxy. In fact I know NMH was ported to the 360 but I feel like it would lose something without those controls.
What is the worst "successful" console ever made?

Onechanbara is the worst I have played in the waggle regard. Take that as many ways as you like but playing that game is a painful experience. You pretty much have to play for only one level at a time or suffer an arm injury.
Mad World is also filled with Waggle but I didn't feel like it was a problem. Twilight Princess on the other hand? To me it just didn't feel that good and seemed obviously tacked on.
Then you have games without (or severely limited) motion controls like Klonoa and Wario Land.
Yeah, I actually ended up getting the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess for this precise reason. Motion control seems really hit or miss, it seems to either work really well or work really poorly.
A lot of times I prefer just using the classic controller like in Monster Hunter Tri.

At least they don't force you to buy a whole new remote. Look at the Playstation, in order to use the Dual Shock games you had to buy a whole new controller.

The N64 had a ridiculous controller, was crippled by hanging onto a dying format (cartridges) and you were forced to buy a hardware upgrade in the later stages of its life time if you wanted to play some of the top titles (Expansion Pak; needed for Majora's Mask and a few others). I did like the N64 and many of its games, don't get me wrong, but I don't like the controller.
The Wii, to me, is a bit of a failure despite its success. I know I've mentioned it a few times and people are free to disagree with me, but I believe the motion control is its weakness along with its strength. I think the near-compulsory use of the WiiMote is a real shame because I would suspect it puts developers off making other games for it - I would probably get a Wii if they brought out some more mature titles on it without the need for waving my arms around like a loony (note, I know you don't have to). I had a brief play on one a few times, and I just wasn't overwhelmed. The graphics did look a little bad on the screen I was playing on (huge screen) and in my mind it just furthers my opinion that the hardware just could be so much better.

Yeah, not only did they do that but they released the "dual shock" right after they released the regular dual analog playstation controller.
I actually preferred the regular dual analog and still use it today since it's grips are bigger and fit into my hands better.
@Only shallow:Oh man, I can't believe I forgot to mention the ram expansion pack requirement in my rant against the n64.

I think what angered me the most about it was that it STILL did not have a back lit screen. I remember before the game boy color there was an iteration of the gameboy released only in Japan called the Game boy Light. It was going to be released stateside but they decided against it on the basis that "American gamers want color, not light."
Speak for yourselves, what good is color if I can't friggin see?! I still get back cramps thinking of the days as a kid when I would struggle to hold my fat original Game Boy to the light while playing Zelda:Link's Awakening. The fact that they still hadn't addressed this problem by 2001 really turned me away from Nintendo for a while.
I also hated how they just ported over a bunch of Super NES games.

You seem to be implying that PS was not three dimensional or had no 3D games. When, in fact, the vast majority of its many thousands of games were 3D.

Speaking of the Game Boy Advance, I think that one kinda sucked too as far as successful consoles go.

Those SNES ports were in addition to the mountains of great GBA titles that were developed for the platform, not instead. Also GBA SP, Micro, etc. had light.

that time I prefer to play the old SNES, Sega mega drive or even Amiga 500 rather than those junky first (or second) generation 3d games of Play Station.Astranagant wrote...

I just loved 3d games when I play at my PC at 1999.

If I had to pick? I'd say the original Xbox, if only because it's games library wasn't all that good until pretty late in the system's lifespan. And it was ginourmous.

N64: Controller was god awful, and using cartridges in the CD era!? What were they thinking? Goldeneye, Orge Battle and Ocarina of Time the only pluses in the N64's credit.
Game Cube: Liked it better than the N64 and Wii, again wierd controller, very few great games and little support.
Wii: Lack of processing power and weaker graphics capability to the PS3 and Xbox360. I really dislike motion controls, and don't see what the fad is about. Very few games not targeted towards casual gamers and a younger audience. Perfect if you got a family, not so good if your a lazy college student like myself

Plus, compared the PS1, PS2, and PS3 controllers I really REALLY hate the Xbox's design. And the controllers are crap quality too. Pretty much all of them end up pulling to either the left or right even just after being brand new. Bad quality = long-term negative view of the thing, even if the games are amazing...

The "move" is a silly rip off of a silly gimmick. (motion control). However, the Wii looks like it is trying to make some changes for the better.

That said, I don't believe in 'worst successful consoles'. If a console was bad, it wouldn't be successful, would it? No matter how much 360/PS3/Wii fanboys like the spew their hatred of the other platforms their mothers wouldn't buy for them. That said, I'll have to go with the Atari 2600. A successful console to be sure, as it served as one of the initial platforms of the concept of video-gaming and what essentially rocketed Atari up to success. But playing it now... uh, yeah. Pass.
