Whats the best armor loadout in the game?

I am a Soldier class.

The Capacitor Chestplate and Kuwashii Visor are must-haves for every class in my opinion. If you have the Equalizer Pack, adding the Capacitor Helmet with the Chestplate would be a great idea, decreasing the time your shields take to regenerate by 20%. The faster your shields recharge the longer you can stay exposed to take down enemies. I would also go with Strength Boost Pads for more melee damage, Stabilization Gauntlets for more weapon damage, and Stimulator Conduits for increased health.

Depends on what type of soldier you're playing. If you like to get right up in your enemy's face, Strength Boost Pads offer considerable increase in melee damage, Stimulator Conduits will increase your storming speed, Stabilization Gauntlets will increase your weapon power.

For raw power, the Kuwashii Visor is going to improve your headshot damage, but the Recon Hood will increase your overall weapon damage. The Recon Hood is a DLC, though. Then again there's the Stabilization Guantlets.

I prefer either increased shields or faster shield regeneration, so there's the Capacitor Chestplate or the Shield Harness and Heavy Damping Gauntlets.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page, the Mass Effect Wiki has a list of various armor components, where you can find them, and when you can find them.

as a soldier i'm all about weapons fire. So, it's recon hood and Stab gauntlets. Then everything else is the health bonuses as shields go down fast and don't regenerate while you're being shot. So, the extra 20% you can get with health is that much more fire you can take while getting to cover.

However, if you have the dragon armor, that's a good choice too, especially since power bonuses also apply to ammo powers. Makes the warp ammo a perfect all around killing ammo with only 5% less damage than AP but it affects barriers too (by definition, but it seems to have the same affect against shields... imho).

Not neccessarily.

Shield strength increase and shield regen speed up is valuable, but health boosting can be as well, and because you also want to make sure you're getting weapon damage increase, it can be better to decide that you want your armor to boost health/weapon damage as opposed to sheild str & regen/weapon damage because there is less conflict for choice when it comes to the former.

Essentially, if you only pop out of cover to shoot while in adrenaline rush, especially heightened, enemy reaction is far to slow to do any significant damage to you with 15% boosts to health and weapon damage before you can kill one or two enemies with your vindicator, assuming we are talking about the generic build commado soldier.

So far my chest/arms give shield bonus. Should I just wear the Terminus armor/Cerberus armor instead? Are those 2 armors better than anything I can make with the normal armor?

Terminus Armor
10% Storm Speed
15% Shield Strength
10% Weapons Reserve Ammunition

Armor Customization
10% Storm Speed
     - Stimulator Conduits - Available on Omega
15% Shield Strength
     - Sentry Interface - 5% Shield Strength - Available as a DLC through Dr. Pepper promotion (Can people still get that?)
     - Heavy Damping Gauntlets - 5% Shield Strength - Available on Tuchanka after Horizon
     - Shield Harness - 5% Shield Strength - Available on Tuchanka after the Collector ship mission
10% Weapons Reserve Ammunition
     - Not available
Note: Shoulder piece available for customization.

So to get the same shield strength as Terminus Armor, you need to wait after completing certain missions as well as a DLC piece. Plus you need to buy the Stimulator Conduit. And you can't get the 10% Weapons Reserve Ammunition. So if the stats on the Terminus Armor are what you want, it's available from the beginning and costs nothing.

Cerberus Armor
10% Heavy Weapon Ammo Capacity
10% Shield Strength
10% Health

Armor Customization
10% Heavy Weapon Ammo Capacity
     - Ordnace Pack - Available on Omega after the Collector ship mission
10% Shield Strength
     - Look at possible choices on armor customization shown above
10% Health
     - N7 Helmet - 5% Health - Immediately available
     - Aegis Vest - 5% Health - Available on the Citadel
     - Asymmetric Defense Layer - 5% Health - Available on Tuchanke after the Collector ship mission
     - Life Support Webbing - 10% Health - Available on the Citadel

Again, you run into the same issues with having to wait after certain missions to get all the armor pieces to match Ceberus Armor, which is available to you from the start.

The only thing Terminus or Cerberus Armor do not provide is boosts to power damage or weapons damage. Since you're a soldier, I don't think power damage is of much use to you. To get increased weapon damage, you're looking at waiting until after certain missions again.

Also, you need to figure out how to drink with the helmet on. Good luck!

Use Recon Hood if you got it.

When you play on Hardcore/Insanity, armor pieces are just cosmetics. Just pick whatever armor piece you like to wear, and have fun.

That is true on anything but hardcore/insanity. If you plan on running N7 armor the enitre playthrough, what armor pieces you wear are absolutely instrumental to your build succeeding for all classes, it just becomes much more evident with the power-oriented classes.

Actually, it isn't. Getting yourself max shields through armor doesn't even give you an extra second of survival time under heavy fire. Same with health. You'll get more mileage out of everything else. Check this out. I personally prefer damage, storm speed and shield recharge (of course it differs depending on what class I'm playing). All in all it really doesn't matter that much on Insanity.

Just wear whatever you believe looks cool. The only armor piece that does make a difference is the +25% melee damage (shoulder).

Reason why I use Blood Dragon Armor over anything for my Castors, I'd probably make use of my N7 Armor if I used a more combat oriented class.

Hmm I see your point.  How about if I slap on that N7 Vest that recharges shields faster?

I've just learned that some power damage bonuses do affect Ammo powers

That means Blood Dragon armor ( 10% shields, 15 % power ) for a soldier is an excelent choice too. 75 % for inferno ammo, instead of 60 % is hard to pass up...

Hey jwalker, you sure the BD armour's 15% power bonus is a straight addup?

I thought it's more of a percentage mulitplier: e.g Inferno 60% * 1.15 = 69%

I'm pretty sure it's just a percentage mulitplier aswell

For soldiers I would run:

N7 Armor:

Kuwashii Visor/Recon Hood

Strength Boost Pads/N7 Shoulders

Capacitor Chestpiece/N7 Chestpiece

Stabilization Gauntlets

Stimulator Conduits

DLC Armor:

Blood Dragon Armor

Terminus Armor

Collector Armor

No, per BW all percentages are added together then applied to the base. So lvl 4 warp ammo would be at 65% bonus with dragon armor vs. 50% without.

That 's for normal powers like Warp & Overload not ammo powers.

Ammo powers are not added to the base damage they make their own separate damage call (which is based of the weapons base damage) before the weapon's own damage call so i'm pretty sure it works the way SupidSeep said

I need to know where to go to get this armor. I'v eonly picked up one thing and I'm almost done with the game.

I have cerberus armor, but I don't use it cause it's ugly.
