1:Why do people constantly say they want stuff for free? I am sorry, but I get sick of customers asking me if I can give them a free battery, or a discount. I have to eat, sleep and be clothed to come to work just like everyone else.
2: Now, as was stated above, I like the idea of asking a character about their past, and then the DLC if downloaded starts. That is a fantastic idea which I hope BioWare considers.
3: I am pretty much content to purchase DLC from BW for several reasons. General quality is good, the franchise is becoming established, and the devs are getting better with the mechanics of the software (see Overlord with ME2 for example). The story is generally mid to high quality, and finally, even though the world is not entirely open like Oblivion, it still allows for adventuring in parts.
4: Please BW, give us Mage Wilhelms recovery of Shale as a DLC / or at least Shale's story as a DLC. That would be fantastic.
5: I hope that we get DLC like this month and next month more often. Even if it's just a cheap 200point weapons / armour pack, or a 500 - 800 point bit of DLC.
Ok, let the trashing begin.

You think the quality of their DLC is good, considering they released DA:O with a massive list of game-crashing, save-corrupting bugs? Combined with the exhaustive list of bugs in Awakenings and the other DLC? All of which we had to pay for?
Wow.
The thing is, I have not experienced half of the bugs that most people have experienced. Yes I have stated that I have had bugs, but not as many bugs as everyone else. Sorry, but that is just the way it is...

I had to purchase Windows 7 because for some unknown reason I woke up to a blue screen of death and my illegitimate copy of XP Pro would not reinstsall. But' I am glad that I got Windows 7. DirectX 11 has improved my graphics immensely. Now I am thinking of buying a CL Soundblaster card. Obviously I am eager to install the new patch as well.

Having Windows 7, is like having a Mac, that has pc compatability. At long last we have stability.. now I just need to get my desktop built and all will be blissful in gaming land... and much prettier in DA.

The new DLC may come out and not have any bugs whatsoever. Don't prejudge a product.
And Fareale makes perfect sense to me. I believe many of the DLCs have been made ahead of time (not necessarily upon release date but they certainly haven't taken a month to produce). As Faraele says, each DLC needs certifying as well. They don't just release these to take our minds off the lack of a patch.
Besides, a Patch seems imminent. This being a stand-alone DLC may also mean there is a likelihood of less bugs too. They don't have to factor in elements from the original game as much.
I am looking forward to this DLC. I am of course waiting for further news first though. I am also a slow player, so I am in no rush to play it just yet. Indeed, I have had the day since the day of release and I have yet to complete it due to time constraints and having a life too.
I'd say it's very safe to pre-judge Bioware on this. Considering Stone Prisoner came with bugs (gemstones don't give full/proper approval from Shale, among other little sniggles), Soldier's Peak came with bugs (granted, bugs already present with the game), Awakenings came with MANY, MANY bugs ... and I believe Darkspawn Chronicles came with bugs as well (I wouldn't know as I'm not spending another dime on Bioware's "products" until I see some respectable fixes) ...
Given their track record on Dragon Age so far? Expect Leliana's Song to come with a host of bugs and probably introduce a new game-crashing bug.
Just need to ask this question..well after I state this. Of all the 79 to 88 games I have played since about 1988 ..not one has ever released with no bugs at all.
Don't computer programs rely on humans putting the right code in the right place? Humans are not perfect, they make mistakes. Especially if they are pressed for time. ...Publisher states ..this game MUST be released on this date, no ifs, ands or buts. (example only)
Every game that ever has patched, that I've seen..."hotfixes etc". Introduces new bugs. Its par for the course. When you are dealing with all platforms at once, that seems to me...to be even MORE complicated.
So my question is Drew, whats your past experience with buggy games, and if you have experienced what I have over the years, why would you expect things to be different for Bioware? ^^
Bugs in games, are par for the course. They don't upset me, I report them. And then I keep my fingers crossed that others...like me, have reported the same sequence of events, in order to get that bug fixed. And then it depends how it ranks priority-wise. And if the "bug-fixing team" can reproduce that bug..in order to fix it.

Oh don't get me wrong, very few games (if any) are released with NO bugs. Bugs sneak past scrutiny on a fairly routine basis. But there are some bugs that are big enough that they shouldn't "avoid" that scrutiny - and if they do, they shouldn't be ignored for over seven months.
Just so you know my "cred", so to speak - I've been an avid gamer since the Atari 2600. My first "favorite" game was Space Invaders, and I've owned (and still do) at least one of every system of every "generation" - from 8bit NES to SNES/Genesis, even including a Panasonic 3DO (a rare 32-bit system).
I can understand the DEX bug going unfixed for so long - it'd be easy enough to miss if you aren't paying 100% attention. I didn't even know it was a bug until visiting these boards, quite honestly. But then there's "save enough and the game corrupts EVERY save file you have" and "sell too many items to one guy and it corrupts your save file". *THOSE*, in my opinion, shouldn't have made it past beta testing. And even though they did, they shouldn't have gone ignored, unmentioned, and untouched for over seven months. We even told them how to replicate it, and a PC user even went as far as to write a custom mod that fixes the bug in its entirety - you can't tell me that Bioware can't look at the mod, figure out the bug in their code that it fixes, and fix it.
This is where Stanley Woo comes in to explain how they have deadlines and schedules and meetings and this and that, that make it take so long to fix bugs that are well-detailed and in the PC case, fixed already by a gamer.
Compare Bioware's history with bug fixes in this game, as well as some of the release bugs in KotOR 2 (most notably, at least three instances that I can think of that the game flat-out crashed with no warning or provocation - all three of which had to be fixed well after release) ... compare them with some of their competitors. I can't remember the last time a Final Fantasy on any platform had save corruption bugs. Rockstar recently patched a number of bugs and glitches in Red Dead Redemption (across multiple platforms) - and even went as far as to say "Some of these glitches shouldn't have been in the release version of the game, so in an upcoming patch we will release a few extra knickknacks for you guys, the consumers, to have fun with".
And athough it's a bit of a ways off, compare Bioware with its soon-to-be competitor - Blizzard. Blizzard releases bug patches on a *very* consistant basis, well detailed, with a very vocal support staff on their forums explaining how, why, and when patches will take place. You could say it's because they have a very buggy game (and what game wouldn't be after over five years, millions of lines of code, two expansions, and dozens of "big" patches) - but I say the fact that they are so open about their bugs, and so responsive on their fixes, that it's more a "good" thing than bad.
So, TL:DR version? I accept that games will be released with bugs. Some of the bugs in DA:O and its expansions, though, shouldn't have made it out of beta testing, and the fact that they did and have had ZERO response in over half a year is appauling to me.

It's sunday, June 20 right now, so 17 more days untill it's released. I only hope that it falls in lne with DLC, that give us a moral choice effect on what to do. I love the DLC don't get me wrong, sometimes I just want more and more of a good thing.
I recall when I first picked up dragon age orgins at walmart, I didn't know any hype or buzz. Then I played it, here I am hooked with all the DLC's bought

Leli isn't my one of my favourite characters of dragon age, nor is Oghren.
But I've come to appreciate Oghren, so who knows.
I'd love a DLC about Anders' escapes or Zevran as a crow.
Shale fighting in the Rebel War sounds lovely too.
I'm quite excited (L)

This has more views than any other thread i think. And why not. Leliana is a much loved character and i knew if a DLC involving her was made it would create much interest. and excitement.
And she is much. much prettier than any darkspawn.

If these stand alone downloads are what we can expect for the rest of the Origins dlc, then I'd suggest something where I could play as a younger Duncan, and perhaps go through his joining up to the events where he discovers that another blight is on the way. If not that, then perhaps something with Maric. Origins only speaks of him here and there. I'd like to actually see what he looks like, and either get to play as him or see him in npc form. Perhaps a dlc where you play as Maric and take back Ferelden from Orlais along with Loghain and co.
