I guess the main disappointing element to me in this is that you actually play "as" Leliana (and your other companions, in the event that this idea is carried further). To me, the companions in Dragon Age were interesting since they gave the impression of being real people with their own hidden past, problems etc

I agree completely. Playing as companions completely undercuts the idea of their being real people in the game world. On top of that playing as anyone other than my characters is really jarring for me.

I suppose this is one way to resolve the problem of DLC having to work with both Origins and an Awakening. I take it we shouldn't look forward to any more DLC that we can play as our character? Tastes vary of course, but anything other than that falls into the "no buy, possibly check out the vids on youtube" category for me.

Yay! This sounds really promising, I like Leliana, and I really like the idea of exploring the companion's background a bit, so let's hope this doesn't disappoint! finger's crossed, eh? If it does deliver, maybe they could do this for the other companions, like zevran and the crows, sten in par vollen etc, could be interesting.

Darkspawn was OK, I mean hackin' n' slashin' IS fun, I'll admit. But Bioware is renowned for their ability to paint a story and develop interesting characters, so why not work more with that?

Hands up if you want more story/character driven DLCs and expansions!

I want a Sten DLC. A STEN DLC. Please and thank you.

Huh? Why would you want that? There would be next to nothing other than combat.......Sten isn't exactly the talkative type and there isn't much in his recent past other than combat......and the one time he panicked out of fear that he killed a whole bunch of paesants.....because he lost his sword....rofl. But yeah.....just pretend you're controlling Sten in Darkspawn Chronicles or get a modder to replace the Hurlock you control with Sten and there you have it.....a Sten DLC.

If this was Wynne or Sten, I would be interested; since it's Lelianna, not so much. Don't get me wrong, I like her; it's just that I like her with an air of mystery to her.

Mystery?? What mystery? In her side quest you find out pretty much everything that happens in this DLC.....the full scope of the circumstances that drove her to Ferelden and her past with Marjolaine. Now we just get to play it....but nothing in this DLC should hit anyone as a surprise.

I don't need the little details; what she says and how Marjolaine acts are enough for me. :P

Enchantment?

No, I'm not interested. I got my hopes up when I saw this thread, but they have now been shot down. This would have been better tailored as another companion quest from Leliana that could have fleshed out her back story (though as another poster before me has said, we already know a good bit of it). I just can't get behind stand alone DLCs that last 3 hours tops.

"Assume the role of Leliana, a young bard involved in a criminal ring that deals in political secrets. Accompanying her mentor Marjolaine on a high-risk mission, Leliana soon finds herself entangled in a game of intrigue that she cannot escape with just her beauty, charm, or stealth. The only way out of this game is to kill or be killed."
mhhh... the plot already thickens... Image IPB

Entirely patch dependent. No plans to get this until the real results are in.
Very VERY annoyed at yet another DLC announcement....

Haven't encountered any real lasting or game-breaking problems in the 360 version and I played through over more than 5 times.....closer to 10 I think. The 360 only has a ton of little annoyances that would be nice to have fixed but nothing to justify BioWare stopping the production of DLC.....they are working on a patch right now and they are updating the lit of things that will be fixed constantly so I'm not too stressed out over a patch right now......we'll get it when we get it but untill then DLC is indeed still very nice and the game runs just fine for the most part.

And here we go again with another person that just can't wait to exclaim that time-tried fallacy "I don't have any problems with it so they must not exist." Spectacular reasoning again!

Bugs list here, started approx. one month after game launch. None fixed to this day. But I suppose corrupted saves and the ogre not spawning on a certain bridge, permanently preventing you from continuing the game are not considered game breaking bugs. Oh wait that's right, you don't have them so they must not exist. Silly me....

All I made was a comment about what parameters I personally needed fulfilled in order to buy this item. Thanks for derailing it with your narrow-minded understanding of what IS and IS NOT.

This is good-bad news.  Leliana's voice and mannerisms are like nails on a chalkboard, so I definitely won't be playing it.  But I hope it does signal more character- and story-oriented content in the future.

Since the DLCs have been so disappointing in terms of story and consistency, I'm almost glad that they haven't tackled a character I actually like.  Maybe if the Leliana fans like it, it will restore some confidence in DA storytelling for me, however.

Well, I was actually expecting some DLC for the expansion, which would involve Leliana showing up in some sort of side quest. Making her role a little bigger and more significant then just a little mentioning in the epilogue.

While it does seems like more actual fun then DC I would just really prefer something that adds things to do in the existing gameplay continuum like new areas to explore like an extension of the Brecilian Forest to learn more of the Dalish or more parts of the Deep Roads to reclaim a lost Thaig.

This is fine too but it is also not what I was hoping for.

Skeptical cat is skeptical....

BUT this sounds great as long as it comes with a nice patch.

Although if Ostagar and Chronicles are sold at $5 and this is advertised at $7 I'm gonna expect about 28% moar!

Good luck.

Not to sound disappointed but really, a background quest?

Another download that adds nothing to the current game at all, is not what I would like to have seen. I would rather see some download/expansion that actually adds to the current game itself not some back story. Or worse yet one that messes up continuality like Awakenings did. Lets get something that opens up some new areas to do quests in with my group. But no, we get another stand alone episode that doesn’t even include the Warden and the rest of the group.

Kind of funny how the first 3 downloads (Stone Prisoner, Wardens Keep and Return to Ostagar) added to the game as you played it. With Darkspawn Chronicles and Leliana’s Song its just content that has no real affect on the main game at all and really has limited replay value.

Will I get this Leliana’s Song? Maybe. It does sound interesting but I just wish it was something that added to the actual game.

If you (BioWare) want to do background quests, then do it right and just make it a collection to put on a disk. You could then do the backgrounds of all the companions.

Just some quickly thought out ideas:
-Alistair and his joining including meeting the other Wardens he mentions,
-Sten and his exploration with his group up to the night they got attacked.
-Wynne you could go with either before Ostagar or right after the battle leading up to the battle in the Circle Tower.
-Morrigan a visit to the Chasind Wilders and maybe a trip into Lothering.
-Oghren, well anything set in the deep roads and Orzammar could be good.
-Zevran, so many options including his life with the Crows in Antiva.
-Dog, yes even the Ostagar dog could have his own leading up to the battle in which he was hurt.
-With this Leliana one, it would be something that I would consider getting.

First dlc I have zero interest in. I hate Leliana. I hope they don't do an Alistair one too because I also hate Alistair. The only 2 party members I cannot stand. Also can we start adding stuff the main game instead of doing more side stories please? The only side story I would buy is one for Loghain.

After all the discussions we had during the builder event regarding this DLC, it's great to see it has finally come forward.

though if you play as a human noble then dog is already in your party and the quest to heal it is a just a random micro mini quest with no importance what so ever

Oh man. I was really hoping she'd be recruitable for Awakening in this DLC. It would make the expansion worth playing for me.

But hey, I'm still gonna buy this!
