Yes, BioWare take note. Make saves easier to navigate and store by adding more info to them that shows up when you're trying to import to ME3.

Its going to be the same thing in ME2 where in ME3 you can see what major choices you made in ME2 such as who died and what your ending was.  I still wonder though how they are able to track all of the decisions you made in ME1 and ME2 and create resolutions for them in ME3.  In my opinion ME3 is going to be put on two disks or possibly even 3 if they want to amp the graphics up.

The first question is well known and the second seems completely irrelevant. Who knows what video games will be like in ten years? You may not need to worry about it by then.

Well we know for certain the technology is going to be far superior than what we have today.  So for rpgs you can more choices that affect the plot and what ending you will have.  The decisions in ME1 didn't really affect the plot of ME2.  I was disappointed by this and hope that the decisions in ME1 and ME2 have an actual impact on endings, or the story of ME3 so everybody gets something different.

What I want to know is: Will your space hamster and dead fish transfer to me3?

That probably will depend on how the game start and how they choose to reset your stats for ME3.  I'm sure they are going to take a look at the classes and find ways to make them more rewarding and fun to play with while still being streamlined as possible.  It also depends on how they want to approach customization such as weapons mods and armors if they have any in ME3.

It should seem logical whether or not you can import partial playthroughs. You haven't made all of the decisions yet and the game would have to give you default ones. Plus, the NG+ counts as a totally separate playthrough.

It will probably say error if you import to ME3.  It could have all of the small decisions to never have occured and the big decisions to be canon.

why would you be able to import a half finished playthrough of ME1 into ME2? if you only half finished it then gave up then the galaxy would have been destroyed therefore no ME2 to import into..

Man I bet the writers for ME3 are going to have a hard time thinking up of resolutions for the choices you made in ME1 and ME2 while still creating all of those side missions in ME3 which will probably affect the endgame for ME3.  If they can pull this off then ME3 will top ME2 and become the first rpg to have choices affect your actions and endgames throughout the trilogy.

Hey just to let you know i got a larger xbox hard drive recently (20gb>250gb) and copied my entire contents over with a transfer kit, which included my profile, saves, dlc etc. Ive since been able to import my mass effect 1 and me2 new game saves over (from the original 20gb hard drive) into me2 without any problems on the new hard drive. I also remember reading the post that saves needed to be on the original device to work, and i was expecting it not to - but it's totally fine. Ive even got a different xbox at some point as well and it had no negative effect, so go get the new box! Im extemely jealous of you!

I'm glad to hear that your transfer went well. Mine didn't, although it's probably my fault.

I did the transfer, then tried deleting my profile from the original, but it deleted it from the new one instead. Including all my save games from both games (30+ from ME1 and 12 from ME2). Once I got my profile back it would let me play, but both games generated errors about DLC for my grandsons profile.

After many attempts, it turns out that I had to go to xbox.com and transfer my game licenses there. Then delete and download all the new stuff. Apparently it didn't quite match the licenses until then.

I hope this helps others that may run into this.

This is the kind of detail that should be included in a Bioware FAQ!! People should not have to search thru forum thread after forum thread hoping for the right answer!:(

Which is MUCH appreciated, but with the rather lame search engine on these forums, it can be really hard to find what you're looking for. I just think that Bioware has a responsiblility to provide the info in an organized and easily accessed manner!!
