Boo Cel. Go work harder! :P

CJ: Yes you is lucky! Anyway the point is I don't think we need Bio to be the guinea pig for this as they have plenty of good stuff coming as is now and still have issues to iron out to deliver better.

Yes that would be a better approach. Some developers are dedicating to it exclusively and that should act as a platform for other developers to get some ideas and knowledge. It will probably be best to let those titles be the trial and error and leave the "heavy" developers like Bioware to pick up the leasons learnt log some years later and make something that is worth it.

Sadly, those money grubbers at MS will probably try to slap a "Kinect" badge on every thing from Halo to Mortal Kombat as soon as it hits the market.

On a side note the Kinect may well work with PC's as well just like the 360 controller.

@GL: Don't remind me. Some people were saying how cool it would be to take cover behind your sofa to throw grenades.... *cries*

Also Sony with this 3d thing... sigh...

If you have a 3D television, and the ability to support it why not? I remember Nintendo fanboys on the Nintendo forum defending the 480p output. It is pretty much the same thing.

3D could work *runs behind cover to avoid thrown objects*. If they have things like 3D cinematic cut scenes I would be lying if I said it wouldn't be impressive. But again, there's a fine line between a gimmick and a novelty.

Oh 3D is great.

However the eye strain and headaches are not.
http://www1.voanews....s-84909757.html

I usually play games for many hours in a row. I can play watching a monitor/tv and I realize that isn't great for my eyes either, however I can do this for hours on end without much trouble. I tried playing some 3d titles and my eyes starting hurting at 15 minutes and after an hour it was almost unbearable

@Celrath: OH RIP EGM! *seems EGM zombie* AHHHGGG!

Yes motion control has been around for a while. It's just taking a long time to get the precision/applicability to be relevant it seems.

Exactly. That's why I think it should only be for cinematics in games. In gameplay it would seem cheap and gimmicky, and kill your eyes.

Well you have the option of not playing them if you don't have a 3D system. Remember Sony is a hardware developer first and foremost. They will operate in ways to advance technology. 3D is one of those ways. ALso given the fact that now you have screens that can output in 3D without glasses it really shouldn't be much of an issue since you don't need the eye adjustment.

@GL: Yes cutscenes and thee like look good, especially in open environments. But then this is just an improvement and not an innovation as it wouldn't radically change the way we game but rather add something to it.

@Onyx: I am confident that Sony will support their 3d push without taking away from non 3d gamers so I am relieved. I have tried the screens without glasses, it hurts nonetheless :(

Hmm, maybe I've played too much Virtual Boy for my own good.

I tried one without the glasses and the back of my eyes started to hurt after like 5 minute.

The Kinect should be able to give you pseudo 3d without a new TV

@Cel: I don't see how that is the same as the Kinect? The Wii and the Sensor are two separate devices and he is inverting it to create this. Kinect is only one device that is tracking you and cannot be inverted. I'm confused.

The way the Kinect works it is has two cameras in it one normal and one infrared which gives you a the console a 3D image of the room so it can tell the difference between you and the background and track your movements more easily. Since the Kinect has the infrared cammera just like the Wii controller the head tracking goggles, which are extremely cheap to make would work just as well if not better with the Kinect, if there even needed at all to track you head.

But wat is the receiver? What he did with the Wii was use the wiimote to counter track the camera. How would you counter track Kinect to reflect that added depth on the output.

Are you reading this by any chance? Because it seems contradictory

The Ir camera in the Kinect is the receiver. It replace the wiimote

The Ir Goggles can still be used as the point being tracked(Cost like five dollars to make at home)

The  second camera on  the kinect can be used to track secondary movement .

it is really simple

it seems over complicated the TV use camera the track two viewers eye movements then used lenses and led to send a different image to each person.

But then that still needs the googles, and is not about the Kinect but rather motion tracking, which is more expansive.

The sans-lens idea is more interesting, although then you need the 3d tv.

I'm not sure if you would need the goggles or not I don't know how good the kinect is at head tracking by it self. If it as great as the say :?the goggles wouldn't be needed, but looking at the specs of the kinect I do think they had this 3D in mind when they made it.  The goggles in question wouldn't need to even have lenses, their just to hold the IR LEDs in place.

I see what you mean. We'll have to wait and see, but it would seem that they either haven't invested into it or are trying to keep a simple message by not bringing 3d into the equation.
