I went to start Dragon Age today (steam version) and it failed to start saying it received (error code 54), is this something that requires me to download the game from steam again or can it be fixed without uninstalling and reinstalling?  I'm running Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit, Radeon HD4890, e8400, 4gb ram... not sure what else I should list?

I apologize, this error is happening with all my steam games so clearly not a dragon age issue.

Just found the fix over on steam forums.

"Fixed by closing Steam, going to Steam Folder and DELETING ClientRegistry.blob. Then reopen steam and let it patch!" - mimimi_manoel

Thanks, I just had this issue, and a search on steam yielded nothing. You would think if most 64 bit Win 7 users were having this problem as it seems that they would make it easier to search for a solution.

I fixed it with a quick exit of all Steam processed, and relaunched

This fix also worked for me, but, I had to stop the steam.exe process before renaming the .blob files. I am using a 64 bit version of Windows 7. Simply exiting from the steam app and renaming the files had no effect.

I just love how Steam's fix to everything seems to be "Delete this file, and let Steam recreate it, because it's far easier to have the user do that than fix the problem ourselves."
