I also wish to have Borderlands yet I don't think I will till it goes down to in price to like $40 or to the bargin bin

The risk of waiting on a game like Borderlands is that the opportunity for 4 player co-op is lost as more players move on to more current games.  I have heard from one of me XBL friends that the on-line co-op is where this game shines.  Like left 4 Dead and Army of Two, It was probably designed specifically for co-op rather than single play.  It actually supports 2-player same screen co-op.  This feature had been slipping into obscurity but I think is making a resurgence since developers are finally realizing that co-op campaign mode is fun.

If you have the opportunity to rent, you may want to chose that route.  I personally use BlockBusters single game plan where I can pick up a title and hang onto it as long as I want.  It's a problem if you can't come up with the $20 or so per month, tho.

But I think I will be saving my money for DA:O.  I am getting kind of weary of Brutal Legend and think I will go swap it for Borderlands

The most recent Motherboard chipset for the 360 is devoid of all of the problems that have plagued 360s. If your console was manufactured in late 07 or later it will have the Jasper motherboard, which is the one you want.

That said, I bought my 360 on launch day and it still runs fine. I think the biggest problem with the Xbox errors is simply poor care. Treat it like a computer, clean it frequently, keep it ventilated, and youll never have a problem.

Also, Borderlands is pretty good. I recommend it for Co-op play, but if youre a solo player wait til it hits the bargain bins.

Sadly this isn't true. Even the new 3rd revision boards are prone to the RROD.  I have friends that have had Elites RROD on them, I'm on my 5th system myself, having gone through one original launch system RROD, 2 MS replacement Pro systems RROD and one Elite RROD. The issue is there's not enough cooling in even the revision builds, components eventually overheat at some point, pop off the board and esentially once that happens its inevitiable.

On topic, I too picked up Borderlands yesterday as a filler game til DA:O hits, and I'm enjoying it, It really is Diablo with guns and not at all a deep rpg, but it does what it sets out to do. Its fun, it's addictive trying to find that next awesome loot drop, and it's unique art style looks great. I did all the quests in the starter town/surrounding area side quests and hit 20th level in one solid afternoon/evening of playing solo. Its actually a really fun game and has co op for those who are into that sort of thing.

I wonder how many people's Xboxes will RROD during their Dragon Age playthroughs. And how many complaint threads there will be. ;)

My original Xbox 360 was the original production line.  The problem is that the graphics processor actually becomes so hot it warps away from the motherboard, thus resulting in the RROD.   When you ship out your 360 for warranty repair (which I have done THREE times), they send you back a different, refurbished unit that has some mods in the area of additional cooling fins and a bracket to hold the GPU to the mother board.

When sent in, the "Faclon" design gets  a mod that attempts to use a heat pipe to draw heat away from the GPU, but unfortunately it is still underneath the DVD ROM and still doesn't get adequate ventillation:

The newest "Jasper" series of the 360 has significantly redesigned both the GRP and the cooling system to add cooling fins and better heat distribution:

Well..I played NW2 all the way thru, and never attempted the multiplayer aspect of that, basically because I never got to know the people on that forum. What I am hoping for Dragon Age is that I get to know more of you, and maybe, just maybe we'll have folks making persistant worlds (servers) that we can join to have fun together. Don't get me wrong I love the rpg aspect and all, but sometimes its nice to be able to share victories and defeats with others. :)

Send it in to MicroSoft, at least they are good at providing fixes for your 360 that has experienced RROD. I had mine sent in and returned in a week free of charge, but I should have waited for microsoft to send an empty box instead, packing materials/shipping is ~$30-40 and it will take longer than for them to send you overnight box with overnight shipping.

Oh awesome, I bought mine in late 2008, no problems so far, and hoping not to have any ever.  Thanks for the info Ekardt.

The day I was about to pre-order Borderlands, a friend sent me a link to the dragon-age website for the Sacred Ashes trailer.   Up to then I was kinda non-commital and non-interested in DA:O.   I wanted Borderlands bad, but after reading all the FAQ and watching all the movies at the official site, it was hook, line, and sinker.

I still might get Borderlands, but only after 500+hours of Dragons, sex, and violence Image IPB

The main thing about Borderlands that contributed to a group of four (including me) buying the 4-pack preorder deal on Steam was the drop-in-drop-out running coop. It seemed perfect for our little gaming group.

Which is exactly why I got DA for the PC.

Yup, gotta love what Steam does with coop games. That's what they are doing with L4D and L4D2 as well.

OK, I traded in my Brutal Legend rental for Borderlands. One thing - Brutal Legend is much cleverer and amusing. I didn't care for combat because I couldn't tell the good guys from the bad guys. I also kept dying the same way - driving off of a cliff. Ozzie is great as the Keeper of Secrets and Jack Black is perfect for the role of Eddie Riggs. And, of course, all the Metal music is awesome.

As far as Borderlands is concerned, I may not be seeing what all the reviewers are seeing, but I have yet to play this game Co-Op

As far as I can see that single player is lacking. The menu interface is kind of confusing and it's kind of difficult to select the best weapon from your inventory. I am still very early into the game and have only ranked up three skill points.

I'll keep playing. My stepson coming over this weekend. Maybe we'll try the split screen co-op.
