C'mon, now, Joey!  We've been over this ground before.  Reporting a problem on a PC is different from the uniformness possible on a console.  You didn't have any usable video card before; has that changed yet or not?

You needed a different computer than the laptop with only an Intel graphics chip in it.

Reporting a Problem with Mass Effect 1 PC Version:

P. S.  Until you sort out the GPF for ME-1, since both games use the same UT3 engine, there was no need for any duplicate question to have been posted in the ME-2 forum.

That seems to be a common error when you are trying to run the game with:
A. Insufficient graphic card. (Insufficient system requirements)
B. Old and outdated drivers.
C. Both A & B.

Can't say as to any other issues or if this is the issue, until you read the link posted by Gorath and follow the instructions there in. But just for troubleshooting purpose disable UAC if you have it enabled, then run the game if it works reenable UAC afterwards. (UAC blocking drm from installing properly or activating the game, when game is run?)
