The DVD player is working (testing another DVD) and there is nothing wrong with the DVDs since I just tested and installed the game on another computer. Whats wrong ??

I am using Windows vista 64 bit.
Just downloaded newest graphic driver and it didnt help .
Also downlaoded a newer directx and it didnt help,
Also downloaded the patch but it didnt help.

That's strange. You mean you cannot even browse the DVD through windows? Yet you can use a different DVD in the drive fine? And also the DAO DVDs work on a different computer.... Hmm, don't know what to say except that you can use the EADM to download a digital copy using the key from your DVD manual and play without the DVD.

Try making an .iso from the DVD using Magiciso or a similar program

mount it on a virtual drive with daemon tools or alcohol and see what happens

I have the same problem. The game installed fine, played for 2 days and on the 3rd day it just says "please insert dvd to play." My dvd-drive works fine as I tested it with other dvd's and those work. I still need to test the DA-dvd with another computer. Anyways I'll try to download the game with EA download manager and hope it works that way.

Edit: Tested the DA-dvd on my friends computer and it works. What the heck is going on here?

Edit2: I noticed that my dvd-drive reads ONLY cd:s but not dvd:s. Odd.

You are running into a conflict that may involve the firmware on your DVD drive.  Two out of three DVD drives that were available here when DA:O was released wouldn't work with the disk.  Installs would be 98% done, when a Data Error would cause an abort.  I installed across my LAN from the one DVD I had that did work to perform the complete install.

I had tried copying from the DVD to a folder on my Hdd, and that hadn't worked.  It has reportedly worked for quite a few with this problem, however.  As a last resport, check with family and friends for someone from whom to borrow an external DVD drive.

My 'DVD-reader' has a hard time recognizing the disc.. it revs up but then nothing. I have to eject the disc once or twice for it to get accepted and autostart or even be seen as a mounted disc in windows.

I know it's not my hardware that's on the fritz.. works fine with all other DVD's.
(I'm talking about 'Disc 1'.) (Or is it 'Disk'? I dunno.. I'm swedish)

I have the same problem. The dao-drm refuses to play nice with my drive (an older nec), or so I presume. The drive will read other dvds and ocassionally the DAO-dvd, but every time I restart the computer it'll refuse for a while. I thought using another dvd prior to using the dao-dvd solved the problem - it has in the past (by luck or by something else) - but not today. Today it's all work and no play and that makes me a dull boy.

No gigantic problem. There are ways to continue playing (wildcard, ****ez). But still, silly me, I'd like to be able to start the game as intended. And, of course, I won't be buying any further DLC out of fear that it will interfere with alternative fixes.

If anyone here ever saw an EA employee posting, I think a riot might start.  You have to go to their site to contact them.  They are the only official tech support this game has.  You are in a user to user place here.  I had your problem
with the Sony DRM on Fallout 3's disk.  I had to jump through too many hoops with that crap.
