I installed the demo, and it runs okay, but lags a litte. The only thing that doesn't meet system requirements is my video card. So is there a way to lower the textures?

Nope and the game is rather dependent on the videocard. Mine is meeting it barely, but it runs fine.

Arg that sucks. I really wish I could run it better. It loads levels faster than my Xbox, and I can actually read text. Guess I'll have to wait for an upgrade before I buy the pc version.

At least you had a demo to test it. Well, i got the game for free, so i can't complain either. EA made a grave error when they had a 10% discount on the game, just with one zero to much ;). For three hours you were able to get it for free. At least i paid full price for the DLCs.

The texture resolution is not the only way to gain more fps.

You can lower the resolution of your screen.

You can also lower the shadow, special effect and antialiasing.

Yeah, I have everything set to low. But with most game I've played on UE3 the textures are always high. And I have an integrated video card so that doesn't help much.

ARGH !
Usualy integrated video card is not apporpriate for gaming.

I think AMD make external video card but may be it would be wise to buy a brand new computer.
If the video card is integrated, it's mean all the composant aren't that good usualy, and it's better to have a computer with all part sharing the same quality than mixing high and low (in that cas, new comp is cheaper and last longer).

I can still play most of the games I own on PC. Which are pretty much just Valve games. I don't have a job, so it'll be a while before I can buy a new pc.

Or you just upgrade the graphics card and save 700 bucks.

Well, this pc isn't really worth upgrading. It was really meant as a temp, but I never got any more money. It only has one pci slot, two if I remove the built in modem. Even then the case isn't big enough to hold most cards.

You mean standard PCI and not PCI-e 16x? How old is that thing? You're lucky you can run ME2 at all. :P

You said you were a bit under the system requirements. Well, that thing is way under the system requirements. No wonder the game lags on that cripple of a videochip.

Oh, TF2 is a bad example since it relies heavily on the CPU, while Mass Effect  1&2 relies heavily on the GPU (videocard).

You CAN lower texture resolution, the best and simplest way in my opinion is via the ME2 Coalesced Compiler, when you install it in the configs folder open up the BIOEngine.ini file with notepad (dont really need notepad++ for this) and look down for TEXTUREGROUP, now for the settings you should only change the LODBias, for example

TEXTUREGROUP_World=(MinLODSize=256,MaxLODSize=512,LODBias=0)

change it to ...

TEXTUREGROUP_World=(MinLODSize=256,MaxLODSize=512,LODBias=1)

The texture groups that have a huge impact on perfomance (on a low-mid range gfx cards) are texture group world, texturegroup character and texturegroup rendertarget

The situation was clear enough.  The video chip is garbage.

Now, we have still another unnecessary message thread about the very same thing, all over again:
