Soooooooo...

Not hugely relevant to the whole plot of things, but in The Calling, Duncan goes on a little adventure in the Circle Tower and gets lucky with a mousy-brown haired mage.

Anders' parents? Hmmm? Did Duncan's actions bring bigger consequences than we're led to believe?

If you look at him, Anders DOES have a certain similarity with the former Warden Commander. The hair not being the only one.

Duncan's black.

EDIT:
Anders is white.

Also, I think Anders would be a lot younger if that's the case. I can't remember how many years the Calling was set before DA, but I don't think it was that many. Anders seems well into his twenties.

Duncan's mixed-race, actually.  His mother was from Rivain but his father was from Ferelden.

I think the calling is about 11 years after the first book, so 19 before the game.  I have to agree about the age, I get the feeling Anders is older.  I pegged him as late 20s at least.  Figuring they can't make him tranquil after his harrowing, so he's had enough time since then to escape seven times and spend a year in solirary confinement since his harrowing.  (not that we know the average age for that, but most apprentices you encounter in the mage origin seem to be in their late teens and early 20s)

Considering Maric got with Fiona in The Calling and made a baby named Alistair, Ander's age certainly isn't that far off.

Possible, but I doubt it. If Anders was born to the mage he'd be given to the Chantry and they'd send him right back as soon as he showed magical aptitude. However he was put in the Tower at 14 which makes me think he was born to a couple outside the Tower.

I always just keep hoping that Anders is Wynne's son that she spoke of to Alistair... :D

Anders is a little too old to be Duncan's son.

As for Wynne's son, you may one day hear more about him. We'll see.

Yeah, now it is the holy gospel of truth, People are going to assume he is a companion in DA 2 and the demands are going to start rolling in.

Curse you Gaider.. that is like saying that The Arch Demon is the great grandmother of Godzilla... downright mean I say. Now as for theories, I am thinking Allistair is the son from Maric's and the Fiona's little snogging session in the deep roads.

Speaking of such things, will we ever get to see any of the characters from The Calling or The Stolen Throne, other than Logaine or Duncan in the future?? Are there anymore books coming out anytime soon?? I have an e-reader now, and would love to start collecting them in the digital format.

EDIT: Had to change Katriel to Fiona.

Oh, now you've made me all excited.

I always pegged Anders as four or five years older than the PC in Origins - he's... *ahem* experienced enough..

ooooh.... How can I make this worse... lol

There are a few theroies about Stolen Throne Maric and Flemeth = Morrigan... What if it = Anders instead. No denying the resemblance to Alistair.

And for Wynne's son.... what the heck, Maric seemed to be single-handedly trying to repopulate Ferelden after the occupation. Maric visits the mages tower... a little cheap wine...

The fact of the matter, though, is that Fiona was a Warden mage. By all technicality, she falls outside of their juristiction. That said, Anders was NOT a Grey Warden (yet), so it wouldn't surprise me if he got scooped up by Templars later, especially if his mother died in some manner and was no longer around to shelter him.

I don't see Anders as being THAT much older than the PC - he'd be what... ten years older if Flemeth was his Mum?

So, he's also too old to be Fiona's son.
Interesting, how old is he? Older than Alistair but younger than Teagan?

Mr. Gaider, you probably were a pharmacist in your previous life - dosing information like that is a talent.  :)

I thought we were talking about "Vivian" the mage that Duncan has "relations" with. Not Fiona...

Yes! Finally someone else has noticed that! I don't understand why people keep saying that Anders looks like Alistair. The only thing they have in common is the colour of their eyes. And Anders really looks like Daveth with different hairstyle. I think they are cousins ;)

Ah, Anders and Alistair have the same nose. And if you put the barbarian helmet on Anders it's very difficult to tell the difference between the two of them :).

I think the point about him being too old to be Fiona's is that Fiona gets pregnant only a short time after Duncan and Vivian have their little "interlude" at the circle Tower, so Fiona's child and any child that Duncan might have conceived would be roughly the same age - ie too young to be Anders.

I always thought Duncan swung the other way, to be honest. He certainly doesn't leap at the chance to be with the mage in The Calling, although he allows himself to be persuaded...

I know, huh! Daveth looks like he has a different texture applied to his face, but other than that and the hairstyle, I swear they're identical. Nose, jaw, eye shape, brow... hell, they even have the same beard!
(Also, Alistair has a wider nose than Daveth and Anders)
