This is the Diary of the Dalish Grey Warden Kathallen Mahariel.
(It is formatted similar to LadyAly's Nachaya's Journey)

Part 1: The Beginning (12MB)
Part 2: Welcome to Ostagar, on the edge of the Kocari Wilds (8MB)

Depending on how well these work, I'll see about uploading more.  They were made in Microsoft Word and I'm hosting them right now through Windows Live.  From what I can tell, you get to preview them through a webpage viewer (SkyDive I think Microsft calls it).  The file sizes are rather large, so I listed approximately what size they are.  Let me know if they work or not.  Hopefully they do.  I'm having a lot of fun putting these together while playing through the game.  Hopefully other people can enjoy it as well.

As a Dalish lover, I am eager to read these! Unfortunately, I'm right at the end of putting together my graduate thesis, so it's a bad time to be reading stuff....however, I did want to pop my head in and make a suggestion on hosting. Have you thought about putting things up on fanfiction.net? That's where a good majority of us keep our stories (mine included) and might make access easier for people.

Let me know if I can help a fellow Dalishophile in any way, I will read when I get the chance!

ETA:  Ah...thought.  You have pictures, embedded, yes?  Hence the file format?  Maybe add links to a ff.net story, or just post them in their entirety here?

I just know people aren't as likely to click on a link and have to download, etc. files as they are to just read or click and read...

Yeah, I was skeptical about posting these things this way as well.  I don't like oddball link clicking as well considering it is the internet :? .

I have a FF.net account, so I can try that, there's lots of images though (hence the large file sizes...ugh).  Either of those options, I'll have to host all the images somewhere, its doable.

I'll try a test here, see how it works do a little preview I suppose.  (TEST RUN AHEAD) (edit: first try fail)

OK... now that I nearly broke the internet... I got something to work.  Do a couple more to be sure.

Part 1: The Begining

Posted Image

Out frolicking, err, hunting in the forest with Tamlen.  Found three shems claiming to have found a cave with elven ruins.  Whatever shems.  Elves living in caves, ha! That would be the day.  We didn’t kill them because they were rather pathetic.  Surprised Tamlen felt differently.  I’ll just have to have a chat with him when we get back to camp, and maybe some private time alone too.

Found the Cave and ruins.   We decided to explore it a bit, see if any more elven artifacts were inside.

(edit: Copy and pasting what I wrote in MS Word was doing very naughty things to the board... Oh well, they're short so I can just re-type them)

There were big ugly spiders inside.  Yucky.  Tamlen got covered in bug juice.  I laughed at him and then he smeared some on me in retalliation.  I'll have to plan some payback when we get back to camp.  Perhaps get one of the Halla to wake Tamlen up in the morning with some slobbering licks to the face.

Posted Image
Found an Elven statue of one of the Creators; Falon'Din, the Friend of the Dead.  Pretty beat up and weathered though.  There is lots of rubble lying on the ground in this ruin.

Posted Image
I thought the spiders were ugly.  There were walking corpses down there that attacked us.  Those shems were pathetic though, if they got scared off by these things.  Tamlen and I were able to kill these monsters... again.

Posted Image
I've hunted bears in the wilds before, but this beast was ugly and much more dangerous than those.  Good thing Tamlen and I are the best hunters in the clan (regardless of what Paviel says; he'd try talking the thing to death anyways).

Posted Image
The bear was guarding a strange mirror though.  It had strange markings; we though the Keeper might want to see it later.  I joked that it could say "DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS."  Tamlen chuckled a bit.

Posted Image
Then Tamlen thought he saw something in the mirror...

Posted Image
I didn't see anything though.

(Added a bit more from the first part.  hopefully I can get more uploaded and posted for people to see.  Yay!)

Then Tamlen touched the mirror

My memory was foggy at best after that.  I was somehow back at camp in an Aravel, I felt groggy and tired, like I had been sick with a bad fever.  Tamlen wasn't there either and I began to worry about him.

Posted Image

Feneral told me I had been severly sick for two days.  TWO DAYS!  He told me a shem brought me back, who was a Grey Warden.  Why didn't he find Tamlen and bring him back too?!  If I find this shemlen, I don't know what I'll do.  I'm sure the Keeper will not approve of it.

Keeper Marethari didn't know much about what happend to me.  She had to use the old magic to help me recover.  I'm really worried about Tamlen now.  She is sending me with Merrill to try and find Tamlen.  I hope he is okay.  I also found out the shem who found me is named Duncan.  (bleh, I never really liked Merrill, kept batting her pretty little eyelashes at Tamlen all the time).

( I changed how I'm uploading this a little.  Seems less time consuming this way.  Let me know if it looks OK, otherwise I can go back to the slow way <_<)
