I'm getting random graphics corruption after a few hours of play, graphics card temps are fine 67 degrees avg.

Using the latest nvidia beta drivers on my 8800gt. Also some screenshots taken by the game didn't finish, thus a broken jpg file.

Anyone having the same problem?

*puts up hand* If you play with anti-aliasing you can fix it temporarily but sometimes it messes up again after just a few seconds, sometimes you get a few minutes.

runabout - what made you use beta drivers?

rawrrrrr: What version are the drivers you're using for your laptop?

In the meantime, both of you try this for me: Lower your game resolution to the lowest setting. Let me know if still happens.

btw, neither of you are crashing just getting the artifacting, yes?

im using a 8600 gt with latest drivers and that happened to me once.

also, the entire screen will flicker occasionally after a loading screen. alt tabbing will get rid of the flickering but the game will sometimes crash.

and lowering the res and all the other settings made no difference for me.

Bah, resolution! The only thing i didnt think to change! This has worked for me, for the time being at least. The GUI doesnt look as slick but at least i can see what im fighting now

Thanks Chandler.

edit: well i spoke too soon, but its still not as bad or as frequent as it was before, so im still grateful.

Roll back your drivers. That version is known to have problems running Dragon Age on certain 8xxx and 9xxx cards. I was having the same problem with my 9800 GTX. I rolled back to 180.48 (the version I was using before upgrading for this game) and was fine. I've heard that the version immediately prior to 191.07 works fine also, but I haven't verified this.

Awesome, I was leery to upgrade to 191 as I heard some things about it, but sadly I needed it for another game. :(

Still I'd rather play DA:O, was afraid my card was overheating or something. :)

Do we have a thread talking about this? Tried searching nothing came up directly pointing to DA: O.

I'm getting nice framerate with the current WHQL/Beta drivers... and also to other games atm.

OTOH, currently testing with vsync on (feels a bit laggy) and ticking "disable multiple render targets" in the vid options.

well the current beta's are in rev 195 and supposed to be a large step different from 191 ( over 200 bug fixes, further SLI supports, etc ) and I'm not having any problems running them ( 8800gtx win 7 64bit )

Aw poo. I was afraid that that was going to help. Other posters let us know if lowering resolution "solves the issue."

If it does guys, it may be a problem with your VRAM (video ram). You could have bad memory towards the top of your memory stack. Lowering the resolution lowers the footprint the game makes in your VRAM. The game doesn't no longer reads/writes that section of bad memory so the problem goes away.

...hope that's not it... :(

I had that happen to my card before, but that is because the card overheated. Try opening the case and clear the dust from the heatsinks if you can. It might or might not fix it.

I have the same issues with my 8600M GT....I have been monitoring the temps of my card and cpu while playing and they never get above 80 for my CPU's and 60 for my GPU. I have updated to the beta version (195) yet still have this problem.

My fans are running as they should, spitting out hot air when on, so no clogs there. It gets to the point where it is almost game breaking as I can not see enemies nor where I am going.

I also do not experience this in other games, Americas Army 3 and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. Any ideas what the issue might be yet or are we still in the dark on a fix?

P.S.

I tried playing with Disable Multiple Render Targets on as well to no affect.

Not trying to spread panic but this is usually what my screen looks like before my graphic card goes to graphic card heaven...

My old graphics card did the same thing...but it was for all games, not just 1 in particular.

I did find a temporary fix for my problem, however. This may not work for everyone but what I did is set the resolution to the lowest possible (800x600 4:3) and worked my way up to a resolution that did not cause the artifact. I also turned my texture detail all the way down and, again, worked my way up until the artifact happened again and used the highest I could.

Again, this may not help anyone as it has already been mentioned (of course I overlooked it) but doesnt hurt to try, right?

Could be drivers/windows issue or maybe a bad vid card (but a bad vid card usually has problems in general, not just one game).  It was strange but I had a similar problem with DOW II and only DOW II. Thought my vid card was bad as I had just upgraded it. I exchanged it for another one and still had the same problem.

I used all the best practices for trying different drivers using safe mode & driver sweeper & so forth and the problem remained. Wasn't until I did a complete system recovery (erased & re-installed Windows) and the problem went away. I was totally surprised that kind of problem could be a software issue.

I'm currently using the new beta drivers also and so far so good.

Ive noticed tabbing out and in again resets it to look normal again. Until the next time it corrupts, but its a fairly quick temporary fix for those who cant find a permanent one for now.

I'm having this same issue on a GeForce 8800 GTS 512 card, it happens every few minutes. This is the only game it's happening in and I have other games that have graphics just as demanding, so I doubt it's a hardware issue.
