Okay, so I've finally gotten my ME 1 & 2 to work. I do have a question, though. How do I delete old carriers in ME 1? I've passed through the game with characters I've no real interest in keeping. The carriers have already been deleted in the "Select Carrier"-menu, but they still show up when I browse through my old characters in the character generation. How do I get rid of them permanently?

That didn't help the first time I tried it. Eventually I just went with it. I have a feeling that the characteristics of characters who finished a run through the game are stored somewhere else. I deleted everything even vaguely resembling a ME 1 character and/or savegame the last time I tried it. But the characters were still available for import in ME 2, even though I deleted everything I could find with the name Shephard or Mass Effect Save (and lots of other search strings I could think of).

Right at this minute it's a pretty rethorical question, since my installs suddenly started acting up like Hell, so I deleted EVERYTHING on my computer having to do with Mass Effect, and started from scratch. Even all my saves and settings, the works. I was just curious how to remedy it, if I would ever run into the same problem again. Besides, it's not really a problem I can't live without solving, I was merely wondering about it.

I guess I'll try one run through the game and do a brutal search/delete on my computer. Just to figure out how to get it done.

ME2 needs copies of the saves into its own folder. That's why you have to use the config tool to get the saves into ME2, and that's why deleting them from ME1's folders doesn't change anything for ME2. Look at the Char01*.MassEffectSave files in Documents\\Bioware\\Mass Effect 2\\Save\\ME1
