Hey guys,
I'm playing Overlord on insanity, and thus using the Hammer Head throughout the mission. I agree it's armor sucks, and it's attacks don't do squat, but a part of me wonders if it's like that by design. Example, a lot of people thought the Vanguard was underpowered, only to discover it was overpowered if used correctly. So anyways, how have you tried using the Hammer Head on insanity? And also, is anyone willing to make a guide on using the Hammer Head?

Since they're homing missiles, you can arc the missiles over cover. Side-stepping and Backpeddling are very prominent since you have mobility, just watch cramped spaces. The worst parts are simply the ones with two Machine gun turrets, everything else will not be so bad.

One thing I learned is that, if you drive under a turret's barrel, and fire or jump (don't know which, practicing it right now) the turret will die instantly. I've done this 5 times, but again, still trying to figure out how it works.
I've also done the ThatAverageGatsby's tip, and Mario jumped the YMIR Mechs, to kill them instantly.

I just wish I could get out and fight on foot, like I could with the Mako, I swear my Vanguard would be tougher than the Hammerhead. The armor is like paper and the missiles are spitballs, true they home in, but still spitballs.

All the videos they've released with the Hammerhead show it out in the opening, hopping around and taking out the enemies and turrets in the open. I cannot for the life of me figure out how anyone could survive trying to use the vehicle this way. It would appear an enemy's and turret's agility in keeping the Hammerhead in their sights exceeds any maneuverability with the Hammerhead.
With Firewalker, it was fairly easy to set the Hammerhead at a certain distance where you could see the enemy but where they wouldn't try to fire at you. Since its missiles autolocked, it was easy to just keep firing until they were all dead. The autolock doesn't always reach an enemy target, though.
With Overlord, you have to use cover. It was a lot of hopping out of cover, unleashing as many missiles as I could hoping it would hit the target, then back behind cover. With a couple situations, I was able to be well enough behind cover that I could arch the missiles and hit the target.
I hate how easy it is for the Hammerhead to fall apart under fire, especially compared to the Mako. I can't imagine the developers hadn't realized this when the vehicle was released, which makes me wonder just what about its design in combat that I might be missing. Aside from the hop and cover technique, no one seems to have found a very good method of using the bloody thing in combat.
And I do wish I could have hopped out of the Mako a few times to take the enemies out myself. Shooting YMIR mechs is what my Infiltrator lives for.

Yeah, I wish I could exit the Hammerhead as well, since combat wise, it sucks. A part of me thinks they designed it to be used in a certain way, but no one has figured it out yet. Either that, or they gave an incomplete vehicle to use, and still haven't polished its combat abilities. At least on insanity.

Same, I'm contemplating the next time I have to do that mission to just bypass half the crap outside like I did with the mako on my ME1 Insanity.
