Perhaps an alternate firing mode with an actual gun
You mean like a coaxial machinegun like the Mako had?

On the Mako I like to barrel through the enemies since it's faster XP just to try to skip all the Mako segments and complete the main storyline as quickly as possible.Notho wrote...
Because I like to hide BEFORE it takes one last shot to blow me up.
If I actually have to fight, it's the same repetitive combat as the Hammerhead - move back and forth while pressing the explode button repeatedly.

About 7 or so of my threads still need an update. Too many threads to keep track of...TelexFerra wrote...
Hey ecael, I thought you were going to incorporate this into BC2

The speed, maneuverability and firepower for the Hammerhead are sufficient IMO.
Seriously, if it were heavily armored too, it'd be overkill.
I didn't like it at first and I still prefer the Mako but once I got used to it, the Hammerhead is pretty handy. You just have to use your strengths with the vehicle and not pretend you're a Abrams tank.
How exactly would that be overkill? And what firepower are u refering to? Hold on, what difficulty are u playing on? Because in my game the HH has no firepower at all(Insanity). And the speed and maneuverability dont really help in a firefight either, because most of the time you're fighting in an area where u dont have much room to maneuver. But dont get me wrong, i love the HH and its speed and maneuverability, just not its firepower or its lack of armor.
To put in my two cents, i think it would be a good idea to utilize Mass Effects Weapon/Power wheel system for the HH, since RB and LB are not used, as are half the buttons on the controller. That way, you could have multiple weapons u could switch from, and u could give the HH some powers, if u will. Like for example, some type of bubble shield/shield boost that gives a temporary immunity to incoming fire. Or, say u were a Sentinel, u could apply your Tech Armor on the HH, and same with all the other classes(Vanguard can use Charge with the HH, Adept can throw out a Singularity to groups of enemies, Infiltrator can cloak the HH, Engineer can throw out a drone, Soldier can use Adrenaline Rush etc.). Idk, im just making this **** up as i go, but think of the possibilities if they were to use the weapon and power wheel for the HH. Now, idk if this can be implemented in ME2, but maybe ME3?

You should condense BC into a superthread

I've played the game on difficulties ranging from normal to insanity and on my insanity playthrough I definitely had to take my time and use cover.. A LOT!!!
You do bring up some interesting suggestions though. I like the idea of using certain character powers while in the HH.

This.
(is the Mako really just a two-wheel drive? Huh. Thought it'd be a 6x6)

Considering the reaction to both the Mako and the Hammerhead, I have a feeling that we won't be using either next game.LPPrince wrote...
Or let us use both in the third game.

Also some damage boost upgrades is always welcome. It is so annoying when you have to spam the fire button.
The hammerhead was rather easy for me. So much more maneuverable then that slow **** Mako.
Fighting was also a breeze; even on Insanity. Just stay behind cover (or stay in their blind spot) and let the Magic "Homing" Missiles find their target. Like everyone else said, it just needs a bit more fiyah powah.
