Ahh.. But level 25 CAN be reached without mods, cheats, ect.. That's what I was getting at lol.. But no, monsters don't respawn. Wicked was right with that one. Once it's dead, it's dead for good.

*Cough*Hit 25 without DLC*Cough* :)

Point out where I said you couldn't.

Cute edit by the way.....30 minutes after the fact.

Edit: Look, I can do it too!

What part of that isn't true then? According to Mavi, you can reach 24 by doing EXACTLY that. To reach 25 you need the party chests. You reached level 25 without DLC. That doesn't mean you said you reached 25 without more than just quests and monsters. In fact, we both know that's impossible since that point has already been agreed upon.

Why do I feel like I'm going in circles here?

Edit: Extra word....

No no no, you said in that post that someone can't reach it while killing monsters, doing quests and completing all DLC. That's the part I was replying to. I simply said I did it with no DLC, mods, cheats, ect..

*Sigh* This part is all that was for. The DLC. Nothing more. No need to carry this any further, since I've said it every way that it can possibly be said.

Exactly, Mavi.. That's how I hit 25 before the final battle, without using mods, DLC, or cheats on my first playthrough. At the time, I had no idea how to "cheat" in DA (nor did I know anything about mods at the time) and didn't have any DLC.. So.. Yea lol

Let's not forget the "cheat" or "glitch" or w/e that allowed trap makers to level up AND get profit off of money from the repeatable quest to turn in simple traps to Allison in Lothering. I leveled up to 13 and stopped there, so I didn't rob the whole experience of playing the game.

But I never heard of getting experience from turning in products to the emissaries at camp. That's cool.

@Bahlgan: Yea, I didn't know about that part in Lothering.. May have to try that this time around since I'm playing a Rogue on this one..

I think I know how politicians feel now. Amazing how people read the exact same sentence and derive two completely different meanings. I actually feel bad for some of them right now.

............

I think I've been trolled enough for one day.

@Wicked: Feel bad for who, exactly? You took my post way out of context. All I was talking about was the DLC. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. And for the record, I haven't trolled anyone, I'm simply clarifying my post, which you obviously either read wrong, or took the wrong way.

Politicians.

See here we go again. Same exact sentence. You derive a different meaning. My brain hurts now.

And believe it or not I wasn't refering to you with the "trolling" comment.

Ah.. Thanks for clarifying that. I've been called a troll way too many times when I'm the one usually getting trolled.. A troll actually called me a troll once.. But that's another story..

But the 'feeling sorry' part was worded a bit odd for its placement. I was just asking for clarification, not to be a smart-ass lol

I'm not wrong. You're arguing semantics and the meaning of words and I knew this discussion would end up here. This is the same thing as trying to define what a turn-based game is and what a real-time based game is. Everything THINKS one thing but the literal definition is very different.

Explanation: By "random" encounters you are implying a persistent world population of monsters that is infinite. An example of this would be an RPG like say.....Final Fantasy. Monsters constantly respawn on the "world map" and you can fight an infinite number of battles, generally never clearing out areas permanently. In these games you can always reach "maximum level", whatever that may be, because there's always something for you to fight.

DA does not employ this system. Battles in this game DO NOT follow the description of random stated above. There are no respawns in this game (though one area will become populated one additional time with different monsters but that's it). All encounters in this game take place ONE TIME and ONE TIME ONLY. Look that up in your guide. You cannot re-enter an area and fight the monsters again. Once dead, they're DEAD. The number of monsters in this game is FINITE, not infinite.

Abrasax Drake already explained this:

Abrasax Drake wrote...

Just to get thing's back on topic. I'll clarify the "RANDOM ENCOUNTERS" issue.

There are several "pre-defined encounters" that have a percentage chance of being triggered "Randomly" while traveling between areas on the world map.

There are NOT any "Randomly spawning" encounters that can be repeated to gain more exp/money.

Random Encounters are in fact RANDOM; the only thing that I was wrong on was that battle Random Encounters are not repeatable (the only repeatable Random Encounter is the Traveling Merchant one).  So in the matter of having an infinite supply of gold outside of stealing, you are correct.  You are wrong in the matter of Random Encounters not being RANDOM though.

@Arttis,
One thing that comes to mind; I was still able to steal money with 1.03 installed, just not items.  Were you not able to get money either on the console version?

I'm on ps3 at lvl 28. No cheats, glitches or anything "illegal". I imported my char from DAO and played Awakenings with him. I do all quests. Still not done, not half way done with Awakenings!

Vicious
chance to stun
radiates cold
interrupts spellcasting
Absorbs damage

None of which do anything.  They're literally not implemented.

I understand it's a lot of work to get them to work. I get that. What I don't is listing them as item properties for items, when they do nothing. Until they do something, they shouldn't appear on anything as an item property. How many people are running around thinking their items are doing something listed by the item, when they actually don't do anything. I mean, it's really cool that Asturian's Might says it "weakens nearby darkspawn" but it's kinda odd that in actuality it doesn't do jack ****, that's the bottom line.

That's aside from the ones like "+ to healing received" that are working, but the mechanics are screwed up, so they work "wrong".

It would also be nice to get a tooltip making clear what exactly they are supposed to do. I mean, for example, "Rapid Aim" is more or less self-explanatory, but not completely so. And it would be nice if such things were a bit more clear.

BTW, odd to see you for once siding with devs instead of players ... j/k. :innocent:

The other 90% i get steal success and no money or items.

I have made about 3 gold stealing from every npc i encountered from human noble origin to 3 main plots sacred ashes/mage tower/orzammar even in combat i stole from the start of ostagar.

Depends on who you steal from, Sometimes I got money but often nothing.

Trap glitch was fixed in v1.03, it's an undocumented fix.

This was fixed in one of the early patches for the game iirc.

Hmm, I wouldn't know entirely. I finished playing my good character (official char) the second time and got everything the way I wanted. This was far before said patch came out. This said, that sucks a load of horse **** that players cannot level up and get profit. In Origins, you literally CANNOT grind or nothing at all to get the good stuff or maximize your level (speaking on behalf of PS3). We got the shaft in the grinding sense of RPG. So actually, I called this "glitch" rather a FIX.

This was fixed in one of the early patches for the game iirc.

Fixed as in removed from game? Jesus Christ... Just when I thought there would be at least one way of grinding in the game for PS3, Bioware goes on ahead and cuts the balls off of THAT too =]

Ah well I suppose it doesn't bother me, for as I stated earlier, I completed my "perfect" outcome considering my character's storyline.

I was able to determine that the stealing bug has to do with items; stealing money still works. So if you steal from somebody that has a chance of money, then there's a chance you'll still get money. If stealing from an NPC would only yield items, then you'll always get squat even if you succeed.

This is enough to make me happy.  Quite so.  I can deal with bugs, since BW games supply me with the storytelling that other games, which while they may play a bit more smoothly, do not.  Still, some things are just worth appreciating.  It's nice to see these things being done.
