NO! it's YOUR. you're means You Are.

Wicked 702 wrote...

We're apparently agreeing here yet you seem to think you're presenting different information. Perhaps you're wording it differently, but it's the same information. (Save for the level 23 vs. 24 issue.) I really wasn't trying to get into an argument with you but when a person says "2+2=4" and somebody else comes in and says, "no it's not....it's really 2+2=4" then it's really hard not to point out that there's either a grammatical issue or a comprehension issue or a little of both.

Could say the same to you Wicked. You used 8(in YOUR original post) lines to say what i did in only 3.

Wicked 702 wrote...

Explanation: By "random" encounters you are implying a persistent world
population of monsters that is infinite. An example of this would be an
RPG like say.....Final Fantasy. Monsters constantly respawn on the
"world map" and you can fight an infinite number of battles, generally
never clearing out areas permanently. In these games you can always
reach "maximum level", whatever that may be, because there's always
something for you to fight.

DA does not employ this system.
Battles in this game DO NOT follow the description of random stated
above. There are no respawns in this game (though one area will become
populated one additional time with different monsters but that's it).
All encounters in this game take place ONE TIME and ONE TIME ONLY. Look
that up in your guide. You cannot re-enter an area and fight the
monsters again. Once dead, they're DEAD. The number of monsters in this
game is FINITE, not infinite.

Abrasax Drake wrote...

I'll clarify the "RANDOM ENCOUNTERS" issue.

There are several "pre-defined encounters" that have a percentage chance of being
triggered "Randomly" while traveling between areas on the world map.

There are NOT any "Randomly spawning" encounters that can be repeated to gain
more exp/money.

Do you 'Love the sound of YOUR own voice' as much as you 'Love the sight of YOUR own text'?? [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/devil.png[/smilie]

@wondergamer. Thanks for the mention :)

This is enough to make me happy.  Quite so.  I can deal with bugs, since BW games supply me with the storytelling that other games, which while they may play a bit more smoothly, do not.  Still, some things are just worth appreciating.  It's nice to see these things being done.

Toss in the fixing of awakening companion aproval & sidequests and i 100% agree with yah

Like others have said, the mention of Wardens Keep designs have been imprinting themselves over items in awakening like the Sentinal armor and the Vigilance sword. Seems like they want to sort the "Priority" which seems to be DAO not anything else.

Believe me, i haven't rlly noticed the dex bug as i either do Archer, mage or a 2h warrior.

I see that they see the "big" bug when other minor ones are more important

It could also be all the stuff being mentioned here is the EASY stuff and not the HARD stuff to fix, which is why the easy stuff was announced. Meaning, they fix it, and then tell us it'll be in the patch as opposed to saying "we're gonna try to fix this" and then have the patch come out and it not be fixed.

Not only is this not a game-breaker, it's already "fixed" (
although not officially "patched") via Community mods such
Surango's excellent one found here:  http://social.bioware.
com/project/2335/#files

I'd prefer Bioware focus their time to fix the stuff the
community can't (e.g. CtDs, broken plot flags and event
triggers/dialogue branches.)  Only after it "works" right should
they try to get *everything" working right.

So Bioware should ignore the console players just because some bugs can be fixed for PC users? I'd much rather they fixed as much as they can, since I refuse to use community fixes since console players don't have that option.

There not just some bugs we are talking about crashing my 2000.00 dollar PC anytime I try to run the game. Do not try and make this PC vs Console. This is about a Major error that can cost up to 3 grand for some people. I have not been able to play at all in 4 months.

It's just the deal with PCs and the multiple configurations and hardware specs they are dealing with. It's easier to fix things on a closed platform like a console than to figure out all the hundreds (thousands) of various PC configurations you have to deal with.

My self-built, just over $300 computer runs DA:O and Awakening like a champ. I mean, there are bugs in the game that need patched still, but nothing that stops me from playing. I've never (knock wood) had it crash my PC.

Why should Bioware not fix the things that can be fixed via community patches? Thats nobrainer. Because NOT EVERYONE plays on pc. Im lucky to play it on the pc so I can use mods and stuff, but not everyone does.

But yeah, they should focus on gamebreaking bugs first.

True enough but it's my point that some people depend on there PC and that the Patch 1.03 did more harm to some than others and lot more pertenshal harm to PC owner than Console owners. That this was not just about a game but about damaging are systems with a untested patch. It was irresponsible. I want it clear this new patch fixes the OS Freeze issue and that this time it's tested on ever ones systems of all types with equal care.

And these points are all about this thread and is not bashing.

PC user wear at greater risk and damaged in real ways to are livelyhoods and yet wear console was tested very carefully and 64 bit ignored and not tested Bioware Admitted that in sevral email to sevral people not just me. So lets see they test this thing this time around on all systems and fix the OS freezes on 64 bit.

Not a Bash Just being clear. You sell a product that defective and hurt some one you owe them a tested safe patch.:innocent:

I Again I say it!!!!! TEST IT IN BETA !!!

1.04 is coming. If you work with PCs, you know that the hardware, software, and OSes vary from machine to machine. It's IMPOSSIBLE to come up with every possible configuration to test against.

Just breathe. Don't play the game for a couple of weeks and wait for the patch.

And seriously, if it's your livelihood, invest in another cheap PC (not another $3k one though, you don't need a beast to store word docs and jpegs of your dog). I keep two PCs (one for random business and personal stuff, one mainly for games and web streaming, both of which I built really cheap) and back up stuff I want to use on both to an external hard drive, just because I do realize how easy it is for stuff to become corrupted and because, yes, I also use my computers for work.

No argument there; it seems that some people have an odd idea of what constitutes gamebreaking though. Weapons and Armor not transferring is not game breaking when they can load up a save and change equipment. A major quest not triggering, or not allowing you to proceed beyond a certain point is.

Trap glitch was fixed in v1.03, it's an undocumented fix.

Hmm, I wouldn't know entirely. I finished playing my good character (official char) the second time and got everything the way I wanted. This was far before said patch came out. This said, that sucks a load of horse **** that players cannot level up and get profit. In Origins, you literally CANNOT grind or nothing at all to get the good stuff or maximize your level (speaking on behalf of PS3). We got the shaft in the grinding sense of RPG. So actually, I called this "glitch" rather a FIX.

This was fixed in one of the early patches for the game iirc.

Fixed as in removed from game? Jesus Christ... Just when I thought there would be at least one way of grinding in the game for PS3, Bioware goes on ahead and cuts the balls off of THAT too =]

Ah well I suppose it doesn't bother me, for as I stated earlier, I completed my "perfect" outcome considering my character's storyline.

I'm not sure if either bug was fixed for a console as I have the PC version.

Zy-El - agreed, it would be nice if it worked, however as I posted, I understand that it doesn't... and that's fine... if the non-working gear is automatically swapped out with generic stuff.

ladydesire - I disagree. I distinctly remember reading a Bioware forum post that the intent was to automatically swap out the gear, but it wasn't working as intended. But I can't prove that as I can't find the post without extensive looking. With that said, for people that don't frequent the forums and they import their origins character in to awakening, what would you say to them?
Putting the equipment swapping responsibility on to the player is a lazy workaround at best... and is something that Bioware should be able to do better.  Would all players be able to remember where they picked up every piece of gear, so they would know what to swap?  Would all players be carrying "substitute" gear that they even *could* swap out?   The logic in the workaround is flawed.

Well, it's not the best solution (as you stated, that would be an auto-swap), but they DID do their best to make the info public. I remember they had this explanation pegged to the front page of the Dragon Age help site when Awakenings came out.

Console fixes are slow because they have to go through Microsoft and Sony's QA process. They won't just let any patching code onto their platforms.

A person doing quests, killing

sentence)...

What part of that isn't true then? According to Mavi, you can reach 24 by doing EXACTLY that. To reach 25 you need the party chests. You reached level 25 without DLC. That doesn't mean you said you reached 25 without more than just quests and monsters. In fact, we both know that's impossible since that point has already been agreed upon.

Why do I feel like I'm going in circles here?

Edit: Extra word....

ZOMG. I thought this all started about gold and the ability of enemies and darkspawn to respawn so a player could get more gold killing them? (Or for the random encounters to randomly spawn more than once as you are travelling; which the guide does apparently say that if you spend enough time on the road you might see the same random twice. The insinuation there is that the random encounters could trigger at any time while travelling from a pool of presets, so not technically a respawn. Guides can be wrong or as semantically confusing as the average forum post I suppose.)

But in any case, I'm still confused.

First it was respawns, then the definition of randoms.

Now y'all are debating the ability to hit the level cap? I think some folks just likes to argue semantics!

Actually in this case, the item he was correcting should have been "you're" or "you are".

To wit; "Ok, Looking at some of your other posts, I'm assuming your (Frogman's emphasis) not English, unlike myself. So actually, English would be 'your' second language, and not mine."

So, in the case you are quoting. He was correct. It should be "you are" or the contraction form, "you're".

Because community modders are coming out with fixes for the small issues that will work for some folks on PC? IDK for sure.

As far as official, from BioWare fixes, I don't think they are any more "ahead" (but I could be wrong, as I don't play this game on console, just PC.)

Yup. The wonders of the internet. People want to write in a very conversational tone, instead of a proper written tone, and then wonder why a conversational tone, devoid of those visual and auditory cues we take for granted in spoken communication (like the lilt of a voice that conveys sarcasm), ends up being misunderstood. If I had a dollar for every time I saw two folks yelling at each other but basically saying the same thing, well... I'd have a lot of money. :bandit:

IDK. It looks vaguely familiar to me. Like something I remember from a bad late 80s / early 90s movie. But I never watched Andromeda.
