Troll much?
No. actually this was my first attempt at "Trolling" as i normally cant be bothered even posting. It appears i need to work on my method.
But what the hell, as i cant enjoy the game i might aswell get involved in the pointless conversations that are taking place here.

To my knowledge, no release date has ever been set for the patch. When they say something like "more details next week" that means a status update, and so far they're on track with that.

The first 2 patches for PC iirc fixed a ton of issues still present on the consoles, The "patching code" would be placed under Q&A by Sony and MS maybe, as for the game data being replaced/unpacked by the "patcher", that souldn't have to pass Q&A from MS and Sony as it should be left up to the developers descretion to fix what they want.Frogman1975 wrote...

any ETA on this patch?
Not only is this not a game-breaker, it's already "fixed" (
although not officially "patched") via Community mods such
Surango's excellent one found here: http://social.bioware.
com/project/2335/#files
I'd prefer Bioware focus their time to fix the stuff the
community can't (e.g. CtDs, broken plot flags and event
triggers/dialogue branches.) Only after it "works" right should
they try to get *everything" working right.
So Bioware should ignore the console players just because some bugs can be fixed for PC users? I'd much rather they fixed as much as they can, since I refuse to use community fixes since console players don't have that option.
It's just the deal with PCs and the multiple configurations and hardware specs they are dealing with. It's easier to fix things on a closed platform like a console than to figure out all the hundreds (thousands) of various PC configurations you have to deal with.
My self-built, just over $300 computer runs DA:O and Awakening like a champ. I mean, there are bugs in the game that need patched still, but nothing that stops me from playing. I've never (knock wood) had it crash my PC.
Because community modders are coming out with fixes for the small issues that will work for some folks on PC? IDK for sure.
As far as official, from BioWare fixes, I don't think they are any more "ahead" (but I could be wrong, as I don't play this game on console, just PC.)

Well, I know the 360 didn't get patch 1.02 at all. That's probably what you're talking about.Franpa wrote...

The console companies have certain standards that they make sure everything adheres to. Some of them are bugs they wouldn't allow on their system (Example: If the ground suddenly stops displaying if you rotate the camera to the right in a game, patch or DLC, it would be denied.) Others are consistancies of the company (Example: A is for Accept, B is for Back. If you use B for Accept and Y for Back, your game, patch or DLC will be denied. (Incredibly annoying on a system where the B button is in the Accept finger position.))
Normally, if a game, patch or DLC fails this check, the company will send a report back saying why, usually listing lots of reasons. Then as a developer, you fix those reasons and resubmit. You expect to have to submit at least twice. Part of this is to prevent this issue to begin with, of a game being released with so many inhibiting bugs that make it more frustrating to play. Though the different companies will have different standards... I suspect MS & Sony have lower standards than Big N due to the ability to patch later (which doesn't actually warrant a change to quality control IMO). I also suspect this because I've played several games on my 360 that I know would not have passed Big N's quality checks (like this one).

Anyways yeah, I've always not been a fan of Sony or MS consoles with regards to QA as like you said, they have a hard drive and can be lazy bastards to make cash quick and slowly, if ever, fix the game up to working.
I love Nintendo for sticking to the release once, never release again strategy as it forces companies to ensure there game works well else it will be forever broken. I think some Wiiware titles got updates over time but they are incredibly infrequent.

The patch team is on a roll now. The longer we wait, the more bugs they'll include in the patch. We've waited this long, what's a few more weeks??

My impression is that we're (finally!) geting a weekly update of (likely) patch contents, but so far no word at all on the anticipated release date. Just speculation by players based on history (with BW, EA, or other publishers). Most guesses seem to revolve around the announced July 6th release for the next DLC, Leliana's Song.
Here's hoping it'll come out before then!
Victor's weekly patch updates are CONFIRMED patch contents. They are in the process of addressing a large number of bugs which include Awakening bugs (thank goodness!!!). As each bug fix passes QA, it is added to the CONFIRMED patch list. That's why Friday is indeed a GOOD FRIDAY!!!
Whether or not the patch is released prior to the new DLC will be dependant on the new DLC requiring it. My impression is that this is the case. Can you imagine playing Leliana as the main character and not being able to steal or detect traps?? These are the bugs currently in patch 1.03. So, by that simple fact, I'm expecting them to fix those bugs (among others) in patch 1.04 and release it prior to July 6th.

I wish they could fix the bug where I purchased this game thereby causing seven months of gaming frusteration and wasted money. To do the damage that BioWare has caused this game as time went by it is absolutely unbelievable that they wouldn't release smaller patches faster to fix critical bugs. This 'wait and see and wait some more' crap is ridiculous. The only reason they're even releasing a patch is because they have no choice with the upcoming DLC. The patch is required to effectively milk us of our money (those of us who bother to purchase). As is typical of BioWare, this upcoming patch may fix some of the things we've been griping about, but more sh*t will get broken and this cycle will begin anew.
I understand the frustration, but they've established in other threads that patches and DLC come from two different teams.
Just by the timing of these announcements, I'd bet a dollar that Leliana's Song, since it has an announced launch date already, is going to come out first, with 1.03 still the latest patch "needed" to run the content (I'm not saying to run it effectively with all the pick-pocketing and what not, but to run it without the bells and whistles). Then 1.04 will come out. I hope I'm wrong, and the patch comes before the 6th. But I don't see it, considering what has been announced and what still needs to be fixed. But I'll be pleasantly surprised if I'm proven wrong.

And i realize that bioware will release patches only when a new DLC is launched, in this case the Leliana's Song.
So, boys and girls more DLC( i hope) more patches from bioware, that means more fixes and game optimizations.
