Is there a purpose to the 6 Cerberus data packets beyond the extra achievement? I don't see any added entries in the codex or other information that arise when you piece the 6 packets together.

I haven't figured out a purpose for them other than providing good opportunities to blow up the Hammerhead and the achievement. And if they really wanted to add some additional achievement besides the simple completion of the mission, why couldn't I get an achievement for blowing out all the cameras? 'Cause that's way more of an achievement than finding some data packets.

I thought it was data from the experiment on controlling the Geth. Now I will have to go back and look, but I thought I saw somewhere in game that you were picking up disbursed info on what happened to salvage it for future use against the Geth.

It was just to give us a reason to explore the world.

Because people complained that they missed driving around looking for things.

Likely Mcguffins, like the prothean data in ME1 (which you would think would have been relevant somehow, given the effort needed to recover it all).

The Prothean data disks were a PLOT item in ME1 along with Turian Emblems, Keeper data etc ... there were NO plot items (shown, displayed) in ME2. So what carries forward to ME3, your guess is as good as mine until ME3 comes out. Maybe it will all tie together somehow? Maybe the devs just "forgot" that we were "collecting things" for further the plot OR maybe the plot just got side tracked in ME2 with the change in writers?Moiaussi wrote...

Four-month old thread, but I'll throw this anyway:
It's most likely something to make you explore a little. As in, a purpose for scouring the place, rather than just making your way straight to the stations. The achievement is beside the point.

So Cerberus can replicate the experiment they were conducting and end up in exactly the same situation come Mass Effect 3.
Coz, you know, they learned from their mistakes the first time around <_<

Chaota Vos, that is the funniest thread I've read today.
Maybe the data packages were part of the VI tourist package?
"There is an aesthetically pleasing view. Organics may wish to take notice."
