Okay, so far, this is the ONLY problem I have. Everything else seems to be working fine, DLCs, ect., but I cannot enter battle on any of my characters. What should I do to fix this? And if I reinstall, does that mean I have to download the entire thing again from steam?

What do you mean you cannot enter battle?

My characters move around fine. The enemies will engage my party and start attacking the people on my team but they will stand there like nothing is happening and get attacked. Plus, they will heal as if they aren't in battle. I can right click to attack, but only the character selected attacks and only hits once before continuing to stand there. Plus, if I execute a skill, once it is over, the character again does nothing while he is attacked. This is not just happening with one character, which I am assuming means it is a problem with a game.

you have a option ingame which tells your characters not to move when in combat and will only self defend or else depending on the tactics selected for him.



Its toggled with the letter "H"



you can see it under your party portraits which should look like a runing person when you want them to move and a hand when you want them to stay still....



also like the images at a street crossing... as in hand dont cross and person moving.



Hope this is your problem.

Oh, and I have Windows 7 if that helps.

I looked at what you guys said, and toggled it either way and they still do nothing. With the hand, they do not follow me around, but they still get attacked and do nothing either way.

sounds like a carbon based input device error.


BTW, if you have tactics disabled, at the bottom left of the tactics page...would cause this also.

Nope, just tried the tacticts thing, and again, either way, my characters just sit there while being killed. Even if a character dies (which is pretty hard because he auto-heals like hes not in combat) he just gets right back up again and starts being attacked

Besides the hilarity of his comment, I am really confused as to what could be causing this error. Is there a way to reinstall without having to download the whole thing again?

Did you make sure Tacticts is on? Bottome Left corner of TACTICS window?

For each Character?

Make sure little circle under Character portraits on main screen are- Left one set to Full-party selection (one Diamond) and right is Move Freely(Running figure)

ODD ITEM- It seems icons are backwards, iwhat ever is showing is opposite of what is active, at least seems that way to me, ie. When Icon for Full-part selection is showing, you are actually in more of a follow mod, and when the other ICON is showing you are in Full party selectio(All Portraits are highlighted)

Im not sure the first on matters, but the second circle Icon does,

Play around with them.



ALSO:

Have you recently added any non-official addons (ie, gamer made ones), like to boost stats or such?

I made a couple and they F'd up leveling, no attributes pts wouuld be given for leveling.

Just a warning, Toolset may be broken!

I have installed the toolset but have not begun playing with it. That could be the issue. How do I fix it though? Or do I have to start new characters. Am going through and trying everything you said again just to make sure

Edit: Tried everything. Still no luck. I guess it must be the toolset. So how do I fix that? Uninstall the toolset?

I installed the game and downloaded SHALE and the game patch. Now I can not start the play. operatins system is XP SP3. Can anyone out there help me

I really wish they would activate Search again....

There are a lot of post about how to work around your issue Gerry1958, youll have to look thru forums(TECH ones). But I believe it has to do with missing C++ runtime exe or such.



bbcourt, have you tried another Character yet? may just be that save/game bugged. or tried going to other saved files?

Wow, this is weird. So I just loaded up DA:O again, and it seems offset from the screen, as if it was shifted down a few pixels. Also, when I try to create a new character, it says Unable to load module. The other characters are still having the same issue.

Edit: All it was with the screen is that it was not in fullscreen mode. The same issues still apply with me unable to create a new character. Also, other saves have the same issue so it is not the save file, but the game itself that seems buggy for me.

Is there a way to reinstall without re-downloading?

I am trying to uninstall the toolset but I am not sure how. I know there is an issue with this ad there is a work around but I cant seem to find it.

Ok, so I have done everything I have been told, and everything else I can think of and still no fix. Characters still wont engage in battle, and i get the message "unable to load module" when trying to start a new game. The only thing left I am assuming is to reinstall the game. If i am running my game through steam, does this mean I have to download the entire thing agian?

yes, you do, and if it is the toolset is causing the problem. i would suggest not re-installing that.
