Cool downs were in ME1. What I would like to see is a return to cool downs similar to ME1. I like the timing cool down for powers just not universal cool down.

cool down still do not make any sense in a game where Biotics are suppose to be all powerful anyway.

Also, I really like the fact that cooldown is visible on your reticle. Again, nice streamlining. If being able to combo/spam powers is such a big deal, I could see shifting to a system in which each power takes away a certain percentage of a constantly-refilling cooldown meter, appearing over the reticle as a kind of pie chart – Pull depletes 1/4, Throw depletes 1/4, Reave depletes 3/4, so you could do a Pull/Throw combo but not fit a Reave until you wait a second for it to replenish a bit – but I'd be sad to see it go any more complex than that. ME2 was such a nice improvement in visual interface for such things.

I love you Ecael
This is why the community is such a valuable resource for developers and they are (and should) paying more and more attention to us.

I have no idea --- ME1 was strange to me that you had weapon with unlimited ammo but then as I excepted this as an ME rule... I got used to the idea and liked it in the end.
Then came ME2... in which realistically, you had Ammo depletion... in which case it was more realistic. Made you act more conservative with the trigger and had you almost scavenging for the other guy's gear.
Looting/Inventory. I do believe this was a change by individuals who didn't like the menu/items/upgrade system of ME1 with its knack for filling your inventory with junk while on a mission. That was a BW decision based on player consensus so... either the consensus must change or the fix is not what the complainers in the peanut gallery wanted.
Your substitution for it was buying augmented upgrades and a " Make-your-own" personal armor option which...had a great positive yet at what cost?
So you know the changes have pos - neg results.

Hmm, old-school system "coold down + 'mana'" could be more realistic for biotics, but how it will work in shooter?
Escael, you do not mind that we discuss gameplay in this thread?

Anyways. A few things I wish to criticize.
1. The thermal clips it's an okay idea. Bioware could post your idea as an upgrade to ME2's "upgrade" from ME1. However, I was under the impression that the thermal clips gathered the heat and had no way to cool down during combat because the thermal clip is contained in the gun, there's no way to dissipate the heat by design. Thus by "reloading" the spent material is ejected and now you can fire again.
The thermal clip changes would have to have the ergonomics of the guns updated. Which they technically did in Me2, but rather used the same models then reskinned and renamed them. Which they'd probably do again for ME3, I dunno it just doesn't sit right with me. If anything it seems more complex then necessary.
2. Auto reloading. I can understand why someone would want this feature. But I don't understand why someone would think it's a good idea. I've run into situations in ME2 (or any first person shooter multiplayer on the market right now) where my current weapon has no ammo and for tactical reasons I decide that the enemy in front of me who has a loaded gun and has probably saw me needs a knife to the face. I'd get killed if I was in an auto reload situation. I've had situations where I ran out of ammo and Harbinger or a few husks snuck up on me and I had to melee quickly. I guess in a cover based 3rd person shooter, and with such short reload animations, it's relatively harmless but I think it hinders your flexibility in combat if you're scripted to reload. Especially if thermal clips are universal. For example if you used your last sniper clip but want to immediately save it for an assault rifle or shotgun you spend it on the sniper rifle. And you could be fighting husks in close quarters the rest of the mission.
3. I noticed one thing on your items picture under the Consumables heading. You had schematics for weapons or upgrades. And for what I have to say is no, no no no no no no no. Item crafting has no business here. In Dragon Age it worked because it fits the atmosphere and whatever you want to roleplay. And the crafting items were proliferous (sp?) enough so that you didn't need to scrounge for it. In Fallout 3, it worked because you literally only have the clothes on your back and you need to survive on what you can scavenge. Here it doesn't work. For in-story reasons, Shepard should not be in want of items even if he manages to ****** off the entire galaxy and any omni-tool with an extranet connection should have all of these and I believe able to make it with omni-gel, why does Shepard have to BUY any of these? Gameplay reasons, well you don't really need a crafting skill in your stats but schematics imply a mess of crafting only items. Where would the player get these, how will they be organized, how easy are they to obtain, how and where do you craft items? Or we could simplify it by paying X resources for Y amount of Z consumable item/upgrade but by that logic we can already "craft" Grunt a shotgun.

The idea of mana makes biotics too much like the force; I think countdowns are fine.

It's a shame that Christina Norman said they weren't planning on changing most of the things in the game, but I will be SEVERELY disappointed in Bioware if they don't at least make squadmate armor more in-depth and customizable.

Force and biotics are magic in sci-fi regardless of gameplay. Using of biotic abilities is big stress for nervous system, that's why both biotic-storm-combos from ME1 and singularity (which supposed to be most horrible biotic thing in ME universe) spam looked strange to me. Still it's not a gameplay weakness, I just want to see it more connected with books and Codex.

A universal pool of clips is easier to read and understand and it will also allow you to carry a full loadout for the WEAPONS YOU ACTUALLY USE. I despise dragging around a shotgun and SMG and AR when I'm playing an infiltrator sniper who uses exclusively SR and Pistol. I find it even more annoying that because they give you so little ammo for the SR and Pistol I will often run out, and be forced to use weapons that I would prefer not even to be carrying in the first place.
On that note, I would really like to see inventory/weapon slots have the option to be set to EMPTY. Just a little game change that would take no real effort on the devs part. I won't even complain if you stick a stock AR in the hands of my chars durning cinematics, even though they don't carry an AR. You do this with the squaddies anyway - its FINE. Just please let us have an EMPTY option for weapons we don't want.
And if you do, and if you go with universal thermal clips, maybe the EMPTY slots could also have an option for... extra ammo?
Epic potential.

That is why I'd prefer only two outfits for each squadmate:
Combat Armor - includes customizable masks/helmets and the ability to change the palette/color scheme like Shepard's armor
Casual Appearance - the outfit they wear on the Normandy when not in combat[/list]
Of course, DLC can add more options for either of the two. This makes it
easier for the art team to work on adding more detail to the outfits
that are already there, without sacrificing customization (consider all
the mods I suggested throughout the thread).

No more skin-tight armor!
Criticisms? Suggestions? Comments?
VERY GOOD IDEAS.
I love your ideas! Especially the one above on squadmate armour. The only thing I'm not entirely sold on is the way ammo works. I guess I prefer really simplified ammo system like what we have in ME2 now.
