Im just starting to look at mods for this game, and have one question, im looking at a hair mod (Rens Beautiful People) but i want to use this on my current character, so does this mod overwrite the standard hair or will i have to mod my current char?
If i do need to mod my char...how do i do this?
quick question

i dont believe that particular mod overwrites any hair (which is good). it does however mean you will need to modify your save to point to a new head morph.
to extract your character's head so you can make only the hair modification (face shape modifications not easy):
http://www.dragonage...file.php?id=428
to make a new head from scratch and replace your characters head without that tool:
http://social.biowar..._morph_tutorial
(can i just say your sig is extremely distracting! in a good way

lol err well im not best placed to answer questions on using that tool since ive never used it myself but lets see...
did you actually try running the script? it has a pretty straightforward user interface...? for your source, select your save game, choose the face and then pick a destination file. From there, do your modification by dropping the file into the toolset and changing the line saying which hair model it uses, save it, then use the tool to put it back into your save.
If youre still struggling i suppose i can write it out in laymans terms, but really the author of the tool should have already done this... :|

You can create a new character using the hair mod, and then copy the data from the new char to the old char by using the toolset to modify your save game files.
Have a look at this thread
The node you want is SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR -> SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHAR_CHAR -> SAVEGAME_PLAYER_MORPH
P.S. If you get "Out of memory" error while trying to edit your save file, check this thread for a workaround.
