Now as you will all remember there was a flyer released with Awakening that hinted at a new Dragon Age product comming February 2010 (that many of us thought would be Dragon Age 2)

http://au.gamespot.c...ws/6253427.html

Naturally this news made me go

"Of course if they plan to release this new Dragon Age product February next year they would have to give us some juicy details about it at this years E3" I thought to myself, of course I was exited we were going to see Dragon Age 2 at E3, or so I thought.

Patiently I watched through EA's press conference, waiting for Bioware to show up and give us the juicy details and finally near the end of the show Greg Zeschuk walks on stage with <insert name here> and starts talking about TOR. "Ok they are just getting the TOR news out of the way and then it is time for Dragon Age 2" I think to myself. Then all of a sudden the show draws to a close with no Dragon Age news at all and I am all like

So I guess what I am asking is what the hell was the flyer for? Do you still plan to release this product February? Did somebody jump the gun and get a bit too ambitious with the release date when you really need time to work on the product? or did you just release the flyer to build us up only to knock us down and drink our tears?

Is there a requirement that something get announced at E3 that we're not aware of?

This is why I don't pay attention to this E3 stuff. It's also why I never let myself get excited about upcoming games or their expansions it only leads to disappointment.

Maybe the 2/2010 date was never meant to signify a release date (after all release dates are rarely as concise as Month/Year format when they pertain to a product that has not even been announced yet)

Perhaps it will be Feb 2010 when they officially announce DA2 instead...

That's a typo. It's 2011 ;)

I think many people are just wondering what the heck that mysterious blood dragon card with 2/1/2011 from Awakening is all about. You put the pieces together from EA's announcement of a "Dragon Age Title TBA" coming in fiscal Q4 2011 combined with other interviews and tidbits of info and it seemed like maybe we'd hear something at E3.

After all, its been about 3 months or so since Awakening and there has been nothing since then to shed more light on what that 2/1/2011 card means. Obviously we'll likely learn about it whenever its planned to be revealed, but from my POV it just seems kind of odd to tease something DA related and then totally stay quiet about it for months on end, while other games scheduled for similar release dates are having trailers and info and such revealed. E3 just seemed as good a time as any to make some surprise announcement considering E3 is usually all about the surprises.

Yep. It's there in a subclause of the Canadian constitution, plus the UN included it in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We thought you knew.

Not really, but it is large advertising opportunity so it seems odd to choose Do Not Pass Go, Don't Collect $200 instead when something is scheduled in just 8 months away. If the original DA also wasn't advertised during previous E3 it'd be at least consistent i suppose, but since this is not the case it's not surprising people would scratch their heads over decision like this and wonder what it could mean.

Especially if that announcement would have overshadowed or rivalled the KoToR presentation, right?  Kids these days!  You have to forgive them.  They haven't been battered by marketing for 20 years like the rest of us.

I suspect when it's time to announce DA2 and ME3 that each one will get it's own cycle.  There's no way anyone will want the two products in competiton for space in gamer's already brief atten

Apparently, The Old Republic will be getting a spring release. I don't think it would be an especially smart move from EA's part to push other BioWare games out at that same release window.

Exactly. Sure EA has seemingly sunk boat loads of money into TOR, but that doesn't even have a release date yet, other than sometime after March 31, 2011. Meanwhile, we seemingly know that some DA related game is coming out 2/1/2011 or at least between January 1- March 31, 2011. Yet we haven't heard anything about this game.

Hopefully at Gamescom in August we know more- otherwise it might be delayed or something, who knows?

You mean like in 2009 when they advertised KotOR, Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 during the same E3? Yeah, that totally backfired on them and no one bothered to buy these titles...

None of those were announcements, we knew all three titles would be coming out relatively soon and pretty knew quite a bit about DA:O and ME2. All it was was some new footage and quick Q&A's if I remember correctly which is fine for an event like E3. Typically though you want to announce titles separately in their own sphere, especially for already soldified franchises.

The Old Republic trailer and "we have player ships huzzah!" wasn't an announcement either and we also know that things are coming out relatively soon so that's isn't much of an argument?

edit: As for E3 not being good place to announce new titles for established franchises.. sh!t, someone better tell Nintendo and a number of others, they haven't caught up on that yet. Posted Image

it's just a small flyer with a date... and on top this flyer was not within my package of awakening. there was only a manual included. but to get back on track there's not a single hint that this date was meant for being a release date at all. perhaps in february they will announce a sequel, or another big expension - or this expansion will be shipped in february.

anyway personally i would not want a sequel until 2012. my guess is that a sequel wont work with the current toolset and therefore the modding community will be crushed if they release dragon age 2 so soon. but perhaps this is the last thing a publisher cares about. you have to expand a brand as long as the community hungers for additional content... in the end money rules the world :B

Since my hopes of hearing something at E3 were dashed, my money is on hearing something on its own prior to Gamescom, maybe with DA2 on the cover of the August Game Informer followed up by DA2 making its public reveal August 18-22nd at Gamescom.

Who the hell knows if thats what will happen, but in the absence of anything concrete from BioWare, thats what I'm looking forward to for now.

Actually I think that mysterious blood dragon card with 2/1/2011 date from Awakening is the doomsday date. Guys, get ready, it's coming before 2012...

I was also disappointed no DA2 info was at E3, but not too upset. This years E3 was amazing, between the new Donkey Kong, Zelda, Sonic 4, Nintendo 3DS, Fable III and many other titles, there is so much more to look forward to.

any disappointment is your own fault tbh... the immaturity of some of the posters here never ceases to amaze me.

they havent even finished milking DAO yet, I think its to early for a DA2, I'd doubt they'd make as much off the dlc for DA1 if DA2 was out
