it's said before, but if you are going to play KotOR 2 you can use the 'Restored Content' mod to fill some gaps in the game, you can get it here:

http://knightsoftheo...11657x#Download

(and apparantly a little fix here http://knightsoftheo...M_Fix_15;111911 for when it doesn't install properly)

I started playing it again a few days ago, still love it after all this time :)

In some ways, I'm not too keen with where BW is going atm. With an MMO and a big emphasis on DLC (for DA and ME), i'm glad i've discovered Kotor. Its restored my faith in BW (which is weird cos Kotor is an old game).

Its obvious that DA took a lot of inspiration from Kotor, and in the future I really hope BW don't lose their way by, producing gimmicky little DLCs. I'd rather they just got on with sequals, rather than 'supporting' released games. I'd rather have DA2 over an expansion any day.

You misunderstand. I dont think it looks like a bad MMO. Rather, its MMO's in general that are bad: Monthly Fees, 'collect ten bear asses' quests, grinding and the general communities associated with them.

Ok, TOR will (supposedly) have a good story... So what?

  • I'll still have to pay every month.
  • I'll still have to listen to people asking for 'phr33 st00f pl0x'.
  • I'll still have to do quests that involve killing things and collecting their spleens.
And at the end of all that, it doesn't even matter. It's set a long while after KOTOR 1&2, so I doubt I'll get any closure on what happened to Revan, the Exile and their companions. I expect the most I'll find out is filler in the background revolving around the goddamn canon lightside Revan and the Exile.

But what really pisses me off, is the fact that TOR is what we get instead of KOTOR 3.

well, you don't have to pay every month. I won't. I'm gonna play the game for the story and then I'm done. Not a fan of MMO's. Luckily, TOR is more of a massive singleplayer game with MMO contents.

The game can be completely without playing with anyone else.

Revan's story will have a closure. Bioware states that TOR is like Kotor 3,4,5...,11,12 combined. This is a sequel to Kotor 2 and more. Revan is such a central character to their franchise I doubt Bioware will neglect his story with filler. (As for the Exile, I couldn't really care.)

You don't need to grind. The game emphasizes on quests more than killing creatures for levels. You get much more exp. for doing quests and less for grinding than all the other MMO's out there.

All these things are confirmed on the swtor website. look it up if you want.

Odd; I wasn't particularly impressed by either KotOR or Neverwinter Nights, as far as the stories went. It took Mass Effect to get me to like a Bioware game. :P

I purchased NWN2 on release and have yet to finish the offical campaign.  I like the story but the User Interface, particularly the Camera and Party movement options was total garbage.

I remember playing KOTOR & not even knowing that BioWare made it. That was the 1st BioWare game ever played & loved, then a friend of mine introduced me to Mass Effect & the rest is well history lol.

I'm off MMOs for good for after WoW, no point to my post really, I just cannot help myself after seeing that ha.

**** that was awesome awesome Jedi chick!

I actually started KOTOR as well as Jade Empire (don't know anything about either of them), Dragon Age was my first Bioware game and now I think I am slowly converting into a Bioware fangirl.

Yeaha, she was kickass :) loved the slo-mo part where she sank her saber into a droid's face while simultaneously kicking some fool's face, hawt. Then she swoops low dodging some sabers and starts with the boss, ahhhh so awesome ... wooooeeeing wooieng wwwwwoooooing!!

I just finished replaying KotOR after many years and enjoyed it.  The few annoyances I had were with the Star Wars universe, not Bioware's development.

I got the biggest laugh playing the "wookie liberation" mission after watching Avatar.  I had completely forgotten about that.  Seriously, it's the same themes and story, but with fewer anvil-to-the-head "have you got the point?  really? are you absolutely sure? cause we can always thunk it in harder"  moments.

Same here, almost. I didn't play the game until a while after it came out. I am a big star wars fan and read all the great reviews, but I was too busy at the time to play. When I did start playing... I made time for it.

I think those games (KotOR) should be must experiences (whether gamer or not) for every Star Wars fan. Just so much about the Star Wars Jedi and Sith are opened up with them.

It was KOTOR that got me into Star Wars. After finishing the game, I went out and bought the movies on dvd, later the original trilogy, and then saw Revenge of the Sith at the theater. I did find Taris boring, mainly because you spend hours running around talking to npcs before you finally get into combat, but the rest of the game was a blast.

I read somewhere that the reason that there will never be a KOTOR 3 is because George Lucas doesn't want another Star Wars game where the main character can't talk. I may not be 100% correct, but that's the main issue. Mass Effect was supposed to basically be Bioware creating their own "Star Wars", and they chose to put the emphasis on ranged weapons. They have some interesting and informative videos on the version of Mass Effect that came with the bonus disk. Those same videos can be downloaded on xbox live, and I'm sure they're available on the internet somewhere.

Don't give up on Kotor 3. If TOR does well, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets developed. 300 years is a lot of filler....

What are the chances of Baldur's Gate working in Vista? I might give it a go after i'm done with Kotor.

Oh and HK-47 - what a hilarious character! Far better than Alistair's feeble attempts at humour in DA.

I also started with Kotor then DAO and finally ME1&2. I'm actually replaying Kotor for kicks and nostalgia (it's been 6 years) and I'm starting to remember why I hated Taris (pacing) and virtually the first 1/3 of the game. Maybe I've gotten more ADHD with age, but it's a challenge for me to maintain rhythm and flow for the opening acts like I used to.

>> I've since went on to buy just about every game Bioware has made, barring Jade empire<<

You should give Jade Empire a chance, it is a very good game with a fun story and KotoR style gameplay.  And if you find yourself falling in love with the setting it is placed in, I encourage you (and anyone else who enjoyed the game) to read "Bridge of Birds" by Barry Hughart; the Bioware team liked the novel enough that they adopted one of the characters from it for their game.  (Hen Pecked Ho)
