I'm trying to get an NPC to say multiple lines of dialogue without converting the line into a cutscene.

Take this example:

The conversation will simply end after the NPC says Line 1. How do I get him to say Line 2 automatically after Line 1 without the player having to do anything?

Thanks

just add a blank line (within the dialogue tree this will be displayed as [CONTINUE]) after owner's line 1 and than add another line. this should be the owner's second line.

Right... I spent like 5 minutes trying to figure out how to turn a blank line from [END DIALOGUE] to [CONTINUE], except I never tried to just add another owner line after the blank line.

Damnit ><

Thanks

then you could help me with my problem :D

i want a conversation to end with a last sentence of the npc. i know that i have to add another blank line afterwards [END DIALOGUE] whichs ends the dialogue - but this wont do the trick -.-

the dialogue just stops with the last sentence of the npc and the player has to push ESC to exit the dialogue. in bioware's conversations this happens automatically.

Just don't put a player line after the last NPC line (the one you want to end the convo with). For me it ended the conversation normally and went back in gameplay. That is actually what was happening above that I wanted to get rid of :P

nope. the same thing happens. the last line is displayed and the convo freezes until ESC is pressed. do i have to use a cinematic (stage)? right now i am just using default conversations.

then i guess it has to do with the stage i am missing right now. will try that later - my workflow dictates me to flesh out the dialogue first^^

thx so far ;)

I had the same problem with NPC saying multiple lines ina row, solved it with the blank player line (thx for that btw), but now there's another problem. I still have to press ESC for the NPC to jump from one line to the other. I'm not using any stage yet, just plain conversation (no VO, FaceFX, ...). Is there any way to make the NPC jump to the second line after a set time or something? Or would the stage help? Because I wanted to finish working on a quest that uses this conversation before I start using stages and other features.

i know that your problem can be solved by generating Robo-voice and lipsynch will cause the line to proceed automatically... what i dont know is what the minimum requirement for that is... stage? the animation? not sure. If you intend to voice it though, you shouldnt have any real concerns i dont think, since that process will fix your problem.
