I'm 17.
I've been gaming since I was 6. Initially it was RTS games like Age of Empires and such. I moved to first person games when I was about ten. I used to love Thief and Unreal Tournament, as well as Jedi: Outcast (although that can also be 3rd person), and even Fire Warrior. It wasn't until I was about 14 that I switched to console gaming. I like the feel of a controller better than a mouse and keyboard, and it certainly fits my extremely tight gaming budget a little better than PC gaming. I stuck to FPS games though (Halo is still one of the most awesome games ever in my book; it's the reason I got an Xbox 360 in the first place). Anyway, I didn't like RPGs until I discovered a little game called KotOR last year, and that's when I fell in love with BioWare. Mass Effect and Dragon Age are now two of my favorite games!
I think most RPG gamers, including Dragon Age players, tend to be a little older than myself, in the range on 25-35 and beyond. Gamers nowadays seem to have shorter attention spans than older generations, and RPGs are too long for them. They're perfect for me though; I only have to buy a game every 6 months or so.
And too bad us 360 players got the short straw when it comes to Dragon Age's graphic quality, though PS3 users aren't too far off.
