17- i have been gaming since I was 8 years old when i got my first crappy PC which had 5 games- prince of persia, pac man, tubes and some other crap. then after 5 years I got my first modern PC and since then I have played basically racing games and some shooters. BUT then I discovered Bioware 2 years ago, and since then my everyday gaming has had something made by bioware. Now im playing dragon age origins. The first RPG I have really played and enjoyed. The game is fantastic. I have been playing for a month and I will probably get bored with in about a half a year, It has no quests or assigments which I dislike, unlike in Mass effect. BUT, I like mass effect 2 more, since my chracter there has a voice and there is actual real time combat with guns and the graphics and art style are better than DA:O. But I think DA:O is starting to become my favorite, since I have gotten totally bored with ME2. I have bought Overlord, but still havent played it, because it will have the same gameplay- talk a bit, shoot something, talk a bit, shoot something big and then talk a bit again. nothing that fresh to make me play Me2 again. Probably im gonna play it in a month or so.

My age is 13:2 Dragon. I can safely say I'm the oldest Old Fogey on this forum. Put it this way, I've known what it's like to feel hungry and knew a time when there was no need to lock your front doors. To this very day I'm content with one meal a day. I'm out of the rat race and feel sorry for you young 'uns who have to suffer the current recession, which will be around for probably your whole lifetimes. I'm glad I'm at the age I am now, especially with the recession and crime level the way it is. A murder made huge headlines when I were a wee lad, nowadays it's commonplace. Drugs are responsible for most crime.
My first PC was a humble Atari with awful graphics. Phwoar! Half a meg of memory! Platform games were the only games available then. I've played online only games but got fed up of the cheats, especially invisibility cheats and shooting through walls. Good games ruined by cheaters, hence my hard line opinions on cheating. I eventually stumbled on Baldurs Gate by accident, and have never played another game genre since. It's only RPG now. I also stumbled on DAO by accident, not bothering with gaming for many years.
I'd like to be 18 again, but not in this day and age. After Maggie Thatcher 'Great' Britain lost it's lustre for me. Now I'm an Old Fogey living on borrowed time and enjoying Dragon Age in the meantime. Much better than 9 till 5. Or should I say 2 till 10.

A quick calculation shows I am actually four hundred twenty-seven in dog years...(divide by 7 for people years)
First computer was a commodore 64 - first games were text based like Zork, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and the ever popular Leather Goddess of Phobos (in lewd mode)...

I'll be 30 in a few weeks.
My parents had an Atari, and I later got a NES, then moved on SNES, Playstation 1,2 and 3, as well as Xbox and Xbox 360.
I played videogames often when I was younger, as most kids that I went to school did, but it was when Final Fantasy 7 came out on Playstation 1 that I really became hooked on rpgs. The majority of the games I play these days are rpgs. I just like the adventure aspect, as well as being able to play as a knight or mage. Other genres just don't pull me in and make me feel like I'm in the game like a good rpg does, and Bioware are pretty good at making rpgs. Sometimes at work, people will ask me what videogame I'm playing or if I got any new games, and when I tell them I'm still playing Mass Effect or Dragon Age, they laugh, because when I finish one, I'll either start a new game or play the other, rather than go out and buy a new one every month or so. There's just so much to do, so many ways to experience the game, and so many achievements to unlock.

I'm 17, but as someone above already said, RPG games tend to appeal to people in their 20's and 30's. I've always hated games that don't have character specialization and in-depth dialouge, though, and I love Dragon Age!

So you were born in at least the early 70's. I'm assuming it was your first computer and not your familys.

The homicide rate today isn't that much higher than it was in the 50's, which were an all-time low for murder in America. This has always been a violent society.
