I surrendered to Cauthrine and my PC was taken to Fort Drakon. (Note here: It would be very helpful if I could save before picking what team because as-is, I have to go through two loading screens before I can make a choice)

I get to pick two followers to save me, and am interested in what combinations are good ones. I just picked Leliana/Sten, and when I talked to the Sister, she yelled and said they were under attack by giants. I'd like to avoid bloodshed in this area and see if I can trick my way through the prision, but I don't know if that's possible.

That's exactly what I did, faked sick and got the Guard in the cell, stole the key and then made my way out dressed as a soldier, it was very fun to see that as an option.

It's much, much more fun if you allow your non-captured companions to break you out. I would advise everyone to pick the option that allows you to cool your heels in the prison.

I find taking Morrigan to talk to the Sister absolutely hilarious.

Leliana and Dog are a good pair. And effective.



Morrigan and Wynne are pretty funny too.



Oghren and Zevran are funny, but not very successful.



Mary might have other suggestions. They're all good, in my opinion, and if you have a save near Cauthrien it's fun to try different ones out just to see what bizarre interactions you get.

Your mage and Alistair aren't a companion combination.

I'm not asking how to do it. I'm asking what companions are amusing/interesting in this area.

I just broke out on my own officially, but I reloaded to see how it plays out.

I love Leliana's dialogue there, especially with Morrigan. I tend to have stealthed Leliana open the door to enemy places, then have Morrigan cast Blizzard through the wall. Wonderfully effective tactic, that.


EDIT: I will also add that I absolutely despised the fact that nobody even mentioned my accomplishment of breaking out on my own. I break out of prison, make my way all the back to Eamon's estate on my own, and nobody says a damned thing about it... What's the deal?
It just made me feel like I was supposed to let others free me just for recognition of the fact that I was imprisoned

The tricky thing about recommending anything here is that success depends very much on what you do with the group.   For instance, Sten and Leliana can sneak in successfully, just don't go near the priest in the chapel.  Also, Alistair?  Not good at being crafty.

My favorite combinations:

Sten and Dog
Leliana and Dog (This is possibly one of the most successful combos.  Zevran and Leliana are as good, but not as funny.)
Sten and Oghren (very challenging) or Zevran and Oghren.
Wynne and Alistair
Any combination of Wynne, Leliana, or Morrigan.

I would have thought having Leliana and Morrigan would be a great combo? Your to lovers coming to save you and then fighting over you. Is there no special diolouge for them as a pair?

I found Leliana and Morrigan incredibly amusing, honestly. I don't think they talk to eachother, but their combined work is funny. I think I'll use Sten and the Dog this time, because that sounds great.

im not sure if any one else have the same problem but after my escape from the fort, all my items in the back packs are gone... has anybody else encountered this and is this a bug?

nope i even got to put on my armor that i did not have the stats for.Wades dragonplate armor with 38 str...I had 42 str once but i sold the items that gave it to me...I had morrigan and leliana try to save me but i broke out and killed everything right as they broke in.

Hmm, I must replay this part multiple times on my third playthrough. I killed too many companions already on my second playthrough to try this. >>

I went with Zevran and Oghren, myself - hilariously amusing as long as you let Zevran do the talking. If Oghren talks, get ready for a fight.

Is it possible to get all the way to the cell without combat? After I get past a certain point they always say something like 'No one will believe we're supposed to be back here' and from then on it's fighting, which makes it seem like the whole sneaking thing is a waste of time anyways; though the dialogue is worth it.

i went with leliana and morry



well morry had the ring so seemed right to have her in the party and leliana as a smart bard had good chances to convince various guards... in fact all went pretty well i think i had a pair of easy combat... everything else was just funny conversation (morrigan who try to give her blessing to the guards was quite funny )

I'll have to do it that way next time. Personally, I'm still amused that I managed to accidentally seduce the guard as a male. I figured when I said something about company being nice, he'd stand by the bars and either Alistair or I could snap his neck. Instead, he comes in the cell, I convince him to strip (yet he keeps his helmet on...), and Alistair and I beat the tar out of him.



That's got to be one of the more amusing portions of the game.
