I'm not sure about how it all works if you get companions to break you out, as I escaped by myself (and I agree with Mystranna, I was half expecting to walk in on them planning my rescue or something :P) but there should be a chest near your cell that when opened gives you all your equipment back (and re-equips everything you had on)

I want to know how many "special" combinations of characters there are. For example, when you pick Zevran and Oghren, they dress and act like comedians, and when you pick Morrigan and Leliana, they dress like priests. A bunch of the other combos were just variations on delivering something, so are there any other costumed duo ones?

Oh man, I missed out on this, sadly. And here I thought I was a badass hardass when I beat that bossbattle, fighting with tooth and claw.

I did the Leilana and Dog combo, it was very amusing. I'm now going to have to try every possible permutation. Too bad I couldn't bring Shale.

Oh I have to try Zev and Oghren - lol.

Dog is awesome when you let him do the "talking".

EDIT: I will also add that I absolutely despised the fact that nobody even mentioned my accomplishment of breaking out on my own. I break out of prison, make my way all the back to Eamon's estate on my own, and nobody says a damned thing about it... What's the deal?
It just made me feel like I was supposed to let others free me just for recognition of the fact that I was imprisoned

I, too, was sad that you didn't return with them still half forming their rescue attempt.

Lelianna and Wynne make an excellent combo both from the roleplay aspect and from the standpoint of combat effectiveness- archer, spirit healer, and a big spiky bear to tank with and you've got all of your party roles covered.

I chose Sten and Morrigan, personally.

The scene of them finally finding "common ground" was quite amusing.

Have to agree with Sten+Dog and Zev+Oghren combos, they're hilarious. Wynne+Dog is pretty funny with the guard captain if Wynne's doing the talking.

It never even occurred to me to wait for help. I thought breaking out with my first character was highly entertaining, though. I guess I'll have to try doing it differently later...

Morrigan and Oghren is an amusing combination, if simply for Oghren berating Morrigan on her acting ability (Or percieved lack)

Sry if anyone has already mentioned this, but take Morrigan and Dog. Let Dog do all of the persuading, and you'll get out scot-free.

Morrigan/Leliana. Morrigan in Chantry robes and in a mock prayer is just too funny.

Morrigan + Wynne are funny. Have Morrigan do the talking. "Oh Maker, let them not break out into boils and..." ROFL

Dog + anyone and let Dog do the talking.

If you want to break out without any fighting at all, I believe you need to break yourself out and pass the Persuade checks with the quartermaster and captain. It's good fun, too.

Oh, and Sten breaking you out is good too. When he reaches your cell he clearly gets choked up about the fact that he gets to break you out of prison, and you also get an approval bonus with him. +7, IIRC.

The first time this happened to me (well the only time, really, I always kill cauthrien now) I thought I was just joking around with Alistair.

So naturally I picked Morrigan (because she was my romance, and because Alistair hated her), then I picked Dog just trying to be funny. Load Screen happens, then bam those two appear. I was in a fit of laughter, especially when Dog tried persuading the guard ;)

It's much, much more fun if you allow your non-captured companions to break you out. I would advise everyone to pick the option that allows you to cool your heels in the prison.

I find taking Morrigan to talk to the Sister absolutely hilarious.

I haven't tried being freed by my companions yet. This time for sure! It sounds like fun.

The last couple playthroughs the rescuers didn't have disguises. Is this a bug? The first time I sent Morrigan and Lily and they started with chantry robes on.

I reloaded and played through one permutation after another just to see the dialogue. I was laughing too hard to actually control the party with Oghren and Zev (Oghren talking), and Dog with anyone trying to do the persuading.

The one time Allistair and I broke out on our own, Lelianna and Morrigan met us on the way out and seemed miffed that they hadn't been able to enact their grand rescue.

It occurred to me to wait, but with my PC a rogue, it didn't seem to make a lot of sense not to try to break out myself. It was awfully easy but it was kind of nice to have a significant quest objective that you didn't have to kill anyone to manage. At least, I assume that the guard Alistair and I beat up with our fists would just be knocked out.

Dog is a brilliant bluffer.

What I wasn't aware of until perhaps the 4th playthrough is - at the last door where the sergeant is guarding (where you get your cut scene of the ballista) you don't have to fire the ballista. You can talk to the sergeant or the two guards that are chatting nearby. Once again, Dog is comedy gold here.

My favorite are Zevran and Oghren. Especially when you have to bluff past the female seargant, to let OPghren try first. Which he epicly fails, but it's still funny.
