I think you should made his reappearance somewhat more shocking, but very nice indeed. Curios how he got the hound and how he found Shale.

Oh it is shocking, I just left that part for later. Shock can be used as a great chapter opener after all.

And I'll deal with Shale and the dog in the next 1 or two chapters ;)

Well, it seems that Chapter 18: Commander of the Grey is finally up on FF.net.

Is Raonar going to bring to Chevaliers into Fereldan? "Is horrified at the idea."

Probably not I suppose. Or if he does, then he will manipulate the hell out of them, as he does with everyone else "Chuckle".

Haha, that IS one idea but I don't really plan to go all THAT AU.

And it's not like he can actually go and open the borders while Loghain the Regent so tactfully denies them entry.

And really, he isn't going to just assume they can be trusted either. I mean, the letters already sound suspicious enough even without his experience in dirty politics.

EDIT

And you talk about Raonar as though he's a heartless, manipulative bastard...:?

You don't need to be heartless to be a manipulative bastard, that's how I see Raonar :P

Coming from you, I suppose I should take that as a compliment.:alien:

sigh

Maybe I haven't been putting enough effort into his 'nice guy side'...

Or maybe people just freaked out when he stabbed Trian... Ah well...

In my mind I see Raonar like Loghain. Dedicated to their people/country above all else, willing to go into extremes to a certain point and both of them regretting what they must do.

The difference is that Raonar is more politically savvy and draws the line sooner then Loghain does ( Loghain draws it at not wanting to kill Anora to secure the throne ).

This does not mean he is a bad guy, on the contraire. He holds honor highly and is an idealist, willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good.

I suppose that's one way to look at it. :P

And seeing as how stabbing Trian is the most extreme thing he did so far, I don't think it's all that horrible.

For one, if he had knocked him out some other way, there would have been serious complications.

A blow to the head: Possible brain damage, Trian would go even more stupid than he is right now.

Drugs, kick in the stomach or anything else like that: Would wear off, allowing for the possibility of him overpowering Gorim and botching the whole deal.

Really, I say getting lightly stabbed in that context beats dying by a fair margin. The real worry that Raonar has is that there is a very high chance that, even with all his cunning, it may make no difference in the end.

Ah, good old Flemeth, always a cheerful sight.

And hypocrite indeed Endrin, pathetic that he dies because of grief yet does nothing to let his children not kill each other.

I suppose Raonar won't preserve the Anvil btw? Or will he? Questions, questions :)

Ah, that will be one of his most splendid speeches I believe. I'll let you wonder about that ;)

Sorry, but this tale IS suspense after all.

EDIT

And I noticed you took a break from your own fics...

Again...

World of Warcraft my friend :) It hooks one up.

Reality is also that I am stuck on Strands of Fate chapter with a writer's block...and I don't want to write more in WoS before I get one for SoF.

P.S. Interested in seeing my latest videos?

Link them I guess.

As for WoW, is it the official server or a private one?

I see. Illidan eh? Definitely nice videos. I never even got to the monster raiding part in the little I played. Ah well.

In other news, I started on Chapter 20 I guess, but methinks I'll go to bed. Y'all have fun now!

Chapter 21: Stone is now up on FF.net. A fair bit shorter than the others but I felt it was necessary to flesh out the relationship between the protagonist and the Golem before I jumped back into the action.

It's interesting for sure.

What happened though? Got a writer's block too?

Not really, I was under the pronounced effect of the Real Life Phenomenon this week and didn't really have time to write much. I THINK I'll be able to post the new one today, though it will probably be very late in the day and will depend on how long it gets.

Okay, so I just noticed you updated this and haven't gotten a chance to read it yet but when I brought it up the last two sentences caught my eye.

And it took all of Gwen's self-control to stop herself from punching him for not being able to properly conceal the fact that he, too, was in favor of that dwarf being the leader of the Grey Wardens in Ferelden instead of her, the Heir to the Cousland line.

When had she fallen so far?

Could she GET any more entitled and ****y? While, again, I've yet to read it I'm guessing Raonar proves himself far more capable of leading at present than she is and her 'Oh, I'm a Cousland with a magical bloodline' makes her feel like she should lead anyway? You'd think she could at least console herself with the fact that he's a prince and not just some random guy who is better at this than she is.

Wow, you really can't stand her can you? Well, that was kind of the point. (I am wicked, I know). She'll get over it, yes, and fear not she doesn't really resent anyone or the fact she's not in the lead anymore. More like she's pissed at how everything seems to be going from one level of weird to the next... and reacting in all the wrong ways.

And remember that she still has no idea what Raonar's past was like except that he was a prince, got exiled, his brothers wanted him dead but it's supposedly not what it sounds like.
